Graphic slots: PCI or PCI express?

PsychoJon200PsychoJon200 Member UncommonPosts: 24

Okay, well i want to upgrade my graphic's card but...i dont even know if i have PCI or PCI express or both...I was wondering if anyone could link to a picture of both. I do intend to get a picture of my slots ASAP, but as of right now, it is late and im tired. So it would be awesome if someone could some how tell me how to find the information on my computer or with a program, show me pictures of both or determine what slot i have.

Check the PC specs witht he manufacturer and itl tell ya the motherboard it has. Once u have that u can look up that motherboard's specs and itl tell ya which slots it has.

    Image of Slots

The most right is a PCI-e x16, the next 2 going left are PCI-e x1, the next is anAGP slot, and the last 2 on the left are PCI slots. The difference you are looking for with a PCI-e x16 slot from a PCI slot is the little tab at the end, and the extra length.

Ah, okay. Thanks, also wondering now that i have bought my graphic's card, will it fit no matter what? I mean my computer isnt custom so im worried that the plug-in metal part might stick out is that anything to worry about really?

It depends on your case.  If its a slim-line then ya.

check what kind of motherboard you have.. read the manual or check the internet if you lost the manual already.. i think it'll fit, every hardware piece (the right and compatible ones with the motherboard) won't have any problems.. hope that helps
