    Greetings,

When you talk about graphics, there are two kinds of them: the art style (attractiveness and perfectess of the characters) and the effects (bloom/glow/bump map).

Although others have said Age of Conan is probably the best graphic game, I'm thinking of something different. To me, all western games (Wow, Guild Wars, Aoc) have great effects and made the environment well. But the art design is uninteresting, if not ugly. Just look at the potato effects of Wow, the unproportionate body of GW, and the man-looking faces of Aoc, and you would know what I am talking about.

So let's go check out some Korean games. Let's start from Soul of Ultimate Nation. You'll absolutely loved the character design: they are perfect, from head to toe. You'll also like the shaders and bump maps, they made the characters look so realistic yet ideal:

However, the game has one major flaw.No variety. From weapon, to armor, to characters, to class, to environment, much things look similar. But I think you can look past that.

The music of the game is composed by Howard Shore, who composed OST for Lord of the Rings.

Lineage 2 is perhaps the best art designed game. everything in it is flawless (even the orcs are good looking). Unlike other games, which depend totally on shaders and effects, Lineage 2 was made with such high details and polygon count in the first place, so that it wouldn't look like, say, Kalonline, when you turn them off. Although released 4 years ago, Lineage 2 still stands as one of the best looking game there is.

Also check out its famous armor design:

Lastly, let's come to the hot topic, Aion, the most visually stunning game so far. There are many new graphical things that NCSoft added in this game. Unlike current released games, Aion can be described as dreamy. One of main thing that it focused on was the avoidance of visual tiredness. In other games, one soon becomes bored of the graphics of the game and focus on more the gameplay instead. However, in Aion, they made sure that you can always experience new themes by dividing each areas into sections of completely different atmosphere. For example, one second ago, you are in a dark, blue swamp, then suddenly you would experience a swift yet smooth transition into a green forest, accompanied with some of the most emotional music composed by a famous Korean composer.

Before I say anything else, xxxxiangxxxx is awesome. That is easily one of the most detailed and informative posts I've seen on here in a while. The analysis of art versus effects was great and the pictures included to illustrate your point were equally superb. Aion was one of the games people have been pointing to frequently throughout this thread and I'm fairly sure I'll try it just to see what it looks like although the gameplay itself also appears to be interesting.

I'll be honest I didn't know Lineage II looked that good for an older game, its impressive. Likewise I'd like to thank the poster two above who took the time to talk about Stargate Worlds and throw up the gameplay trailer. The graphics aren't crazy, but as a Stargate fan I can appreciate the feel of the universe they give off. Maybe that will be my main game, but graphically it dosen't quite live up to Aion or AoC which was also highly recommended here.

Definitely thanks to all the great posts here, and also to those posters who kept me firmly planted in reality with their fanboy evangelism without really reading my initial post. Yes, Darkfall looks cool and I'm interested in it, but graphically Its yet to blow me away. Especially that video, god that was ugly. But the screenshots look pretty good, so I'll wait for beta.

Again, thanks community, and another shout out to xxxxiangxxxx for being a cool Korean gamer.

I think Age of Conan wins for the 'wow' factor, but because it has no style I think it will not age very well. In terms of style I would say TCOS looks very cool style wise, reminds me of fable a lot, and classic european fantasy. Although it is not exactly one of those games that makes you go 'wow' when you see the graphics, it just looks like it fits with the world, not distracting to the gameplay, its just there if that makes sense.

After looking at some AION screens and videos its looks like every other korean game, I know it isnt a Korean game but it does look like them. So I personally would not rate it particually high because I really can't stand the style of that art. It is obviously graphically superior but its very reminiscent of anime in my eyes; which I have never been a fan of.

I would say LoTRO. It's the only game I have ever stopped dead in my tracks and said ," holy sh*t- look at that !" I gotta have over 200 screenies in my LoTRO folder by now LOL!

I have tried both Soul of Ultimate Nation and Age of Conan and I think SUN (Soul of Ultimate Nation) has a better realistic graphics.

I will surely go with xxxxiangxxxx about the graphics portions of SUN.

At that point of time when I had a pretty crappy computer with a 512 V-Ram and 3Gb Ram and the dual core processor and the basic TFT monitor, I was bowled over by SUN. Due to language barrier I was unable to continue to play the game but the graphics was stunning.

About AoC ( Age Of Conan ) I would say, character creation is not about making female toons voluptuous as all in here are not kids and not attracted by sheer disguised kinkiness. I am sorry to write these lines but the first time I was testing the Age of Conan in the closed beta mode I was unable to feel comfortable logging into AoC when my brothers kids were around. Back then when I posted this, Some guy pointed me out that I was lieing and eventually I got banned.

Funcom And The Age Of Conan Ordeal:-

When I got a chance to test Age of Conan, I was really amazed at my luck. A few days down the line I was quite shocked to see that the game-play was getting limited to chat-box and adult content oriented experimentation. I still do not know if this content is that much appreciative but all that I know is that it is new compared to other Mmorpgs.

Whether kids are doing it or just adults behind the screen is still a question that will never find an answer but yes I would say that besides developing game content , this segment of content development is really interesting from Funcom’s part.

The only problem I have so far is that I really cannot play the game at home with my kid trying to figure out the images in the computer screen and I do not want my kid to get exposed to it also.

    Cheers.

I laughed at their inability to accept true facts. When it comes to the feel of the world I will still go for SUN ( Soul Of Ultimate Nation ) as the depth and the details I have seen in that game is far beyond any games I have seen so far and I have played quite many till now. If you have used a low configuration computer and watched the smoothness of City Of Heroes graphics compared to others you can well know what I mean about SUN’s graphics.

I hope they are going to make a MMO using the same Cellshader as Prince of Persia 4 use. I have never played Prince of Persia, have no idea if the game is any good; but i really love the new shaders.

It looks abit like oilpaintings. Which would be absolutely perfect in a game where the art is inspired of Frank Frazzetta or someone similar ( typical fantasy artists).

    Chek out this gameplay:

Easily Aion.  The graphics themselves are great, but the art is where it really shines.  Check out this video for a perfect example:

Once it gets to the Elyos environments, you'll see what I mean
