Lets keep it simple.
PvE consist in killing lifeless, just standing there, never moving, no AI, NPCs.
It's supposed to keep you busy when you: a) don't feel like pvping; b) there are not enough people online to PvP properly;
PvE seems like an aftertought in this game, and just has the basics mechanics intended to help players fill their experience bar. It's worth 3/10.
PvP, it's always great to play against other players, and scenarios are fun enough. Group balance is there, and it's nice to get away from the "2-3 shot joo" from WoW.
I didn't get past lvl 15 so far, but open/world pvp doesn't happen much; it's probably due to the fact that the PvE part is weak, that open PvP is taking place in the PvE environement, so players prefer to play scenario rather than dealing with the crap PvE.
I guess open PvP will be more present at high lvl.
Overall, this game is fun when you pvp, and boring when you're not
Tthe main problem i see with WAR is that it's totally dependant on the number of people online ready to PvP.
It's hard to admit, but it seems pure PvP in a mmo is not worth a good FPS.
My addiction History:
>> EQ1 2000-2004 - Shaman/Bard/Wizard/Monk - nolife raid-whore
>> WoW 2004-2009 + Cataclysm for 2 months - hardcore casual
>> Current status : done with MMO, too old for that crap.

Given that i started rvring and pvping at rank one, in under 20 secodns id say your experiance baffles me. aside from that in PVE there are NPC's running around...fighting...shooting cannons...and yet they are lifeless? Sorry having played the game I cant agree with anything your saying regarding the pvp or pve aspect of this game.
pvE is no better or worse than any other linear mmo out thier on the market imo...i have yet to try dungeons yet they dont come until level 15...what is your highest level?
playing: Dragon Age
Waiting: for FF14, Mass Effect
Want to try: Fallen Earth
I think the PvE can get really nuts sometimes. Almost feels like a gank fest of mobs on you in certain areas. The PvP is awesome, I haven't played an MMO yet that made me want to PvP as much. Just my opinions, this game really works for me!
HMMMMm that's strange when I attack a NPC it attacks me back and when i run they run after me. Ive played a lot of MMOs and the PvE seems on par with any other game out there. I havent found any dungeons yet but Im not that far into the game. PQ are a really good addiction most of the ones Ive done require teamwork to complete them.
I do world PvP all the time, you just have to find the right place where its going on. But like you said it will get better when you get to higher levels.
Well I hope you can find some of the good world PvP that I found, its been really fun even though Im lvl 6. I would have been a higher lvl but my friend kept on changing his mind on what server he wanted to play on. lol
You know the PvE part of this made me realize how crappy PvE/AI etc. has always been in MMO's. The thing is older and more classic MMO's had harder fights that required teamwork like in FFXI the AI is as basic as can be, but because it takes 6 people to fight something your level it just feels more right. When you solo PvE and blast through content this kind of AI shows it's flaws. PvE in WoW and WAR are both equally as boring as far as quest grinding, but then again so are all other previous MMO's. At least there are PQ's to add in some spice.
I think it is too hard to put a number of PvP so far and I am almost level 20. Some of the scenarios have been ridiculously fun, but some have been average. In general of the 12 scenarios I think the worst is still better than the best in WoW which is a plus for me.
I find it hard to rate the game though other than labeling it a 'first impression review' because I try to imagine what the game will be like towards end game. I know in WoW I can either grind out weaksauce battleground's or do arena, or be in a dramatic arse guild and repeat the same PvE dungeons with the same annoying tools on vent. I know in FFXI I can hunt down gods, grind out merits, but at least in FFXI the social aspect is there and I can never predict what a play session will be like. With WAR I just don't know. I can see a constant struggle of power going on as each side tries to take the others city. I can see a lot of crazy PvP. The thing is I can't really put a finger on it right now.
Anyway thanks for your opinion.
Just to have a look at the inside of this man's head - and hate against a .... game .(?!?!) ...I highlighted the insanity of it all.
Man you ARE fucked up. ..
So you think that the dwarf/greenskin scenario played at 50 meters distance with each flag 20 meters apart and played on a surface of say 10% of the original WSG is still better designed than ANY BG of WOW ???
You dear boy, lost ALL credit to everyone.
----> What did Blizzard do: rape your mother ???

First you highlighted half my sentence. I said PvE in WoW and WAR are both equally as boring as far as quest grinding. If you think quest grinding PvE in WoW is less boring then I don't know what to tell you. Instead of having to kill 10 lions for 10 lion heads you have to kill 40 lions for 40 lion heads. Damn so much less boring.
Did I stutter? Yes I like every scenario I have played in WAR more than any BG in WoW. Whip out all your little area % stats that you want and it doesn't change the fact that I have more fun with scenarios in WAR than with WoW. Maybe because WAR is a team based game and BG's/Scenarios are a team vs. team competition.
Yes most end game WoW PvE based raid guilds are more dramatic than a 9th grade classroom. I am sorry for this fact.
I disagree with your PvE rating(but i feel the PvP is fair)
The PvE in WAR is one of the best i've personally come across.
1. PQ's are fun, and when you get a group working together they can be a blast. There are a ton of PQ's and they inspire quite a bit of teamwork, especially when your in smaller groups.
2. The quests are a lot quicker and less tediously grindey then WoW, as i've said before, in WoW you kill 50 wolves for 10 claws, and in war you kill 5 wolves for 5 claws. It's a lot better off.
3. The way they lace each side into each area is pretty fun, your both in the same general areas, yet your both doing completely different quests and you aren't both pvping each other while grinding mobs.
4. The mobs in WAR have quite a bit of life to them. Theres tons of areas which look alive, in comparison to mobs just standing around doing nothing.
I will quote my friend on vent after reading this forum post to him and discussing how broken of a review it is.
"Yesterday, I did a quest where I had to infiltrate a monastery by infiltrating the catacomb and I had to assassinate a leader. It was incredible."
World of Warcraft 1-60 Leveling
- http://www.wow-pro.com/leveling_guides/james_alliance_leveling_guide_-_chapter_i
Summary: kill thousands upon thousands of monsters. PvP is of no value gear or experience wise, not to mention the long queues. Waiting for an instance party is boring, unfun and not streamlined. Quests have variety but without a leveling guide you're stuck asking for help on where to go your first time through
Final Fantasy XI 1-75 Leveling
- Level 1-10 you solo mobs. You unlock your first weapon skill at around level 4 and then are able to use that every few minutes to bring the variety up. VERY long, very unrewarding and very boring.
- Level 10-75 you seek a group until you can find a group and then find an area to level up in and meet at a camp spot. If anyone disconnects or has to leave, you have to find a replacement. Many of us have spent hours upon hours looking for a party and finding one within 15 minutes is lucky.
Warhammer Online 1-40 leveling:
- There are tiers which are all completely different. Each has their own storyline and completely different quests. You can get to another one in no due time, and the quests are dynamic and within close proximity of the quest giver.
- PvP is built into the framework and is about just as fast and rewarding as leveling through PvE means. If outdoor RvR is hard to find due to a low population server or late at night, you can queue for a scenario and be pitted against the opposite faction in a fair and balanced matchup. There are many different scenarios scattered throughout the game and all are very different.
- Public Quests are an equivalent of an outdoor raid that requires no looking for party. They are incredibly rewarding and give tons of experience. It's seamless and there are hundreds of them from level 1-40.
- You also get experience for random things such as finding random hidden items, areas and NPC's. There are also quests and hidden objectives in the capital cities which are very rewarding and help level up the city.
Warhammer Online has by far the best leveling experience to maximum level of any MMORPG ever made, period.
About PQ, it's an excellent idea, but at 1am, you can't PvP or do PQ because there are not enough people onlkine. that's where you're somehow forced to do the PvE part, and that's where i don't like it because most "quest/grind" mobs are static and react in a basic fashion.
So far i wouldn't say i'm disappointed, it's probably the whole PvE thing which got me bored after 4 years of EQ and 2 years of WoW.
PvP is indeed great fun, but people don't talk much either in scenario or in the world. Guess they are WoW players and are in a hurry to log on for the raid...

your nuts ...this is the most fun I've ever had in a MMORPG..and I've played most of them..Looks like a WOW killer to me.
I just finished altdorf sewers (first of tree parts) and the very first boss requires raid-like co-ordination and took over an hour to down. The second one isn't too bad, just have to stay off the spikes. The worst part was we onyl got some really bad bop greens from it all. (Not even the rat tails we needed for the quest)

Whatever you're smoking, pass me some dude.
War is awesome...but if you can't find the PVE, then you must not know what you're doing. I found PQ's within like...10 minutes of gametime. Those were a ton of fun. Honestly, have you even tried one?
