Diversity in armor's and weapon in the World of WAR ?

Hi guyz .. i'm looking to buy this game but something is holding me off .. i always like playing MMO's where i can make my char look differently than others .. Games like wow with it's Big diversity of items, armor's and weapons  really appeal to me and i have been having fun in WoW but WAR seems interesting since i really like pvp ..

My question is .. is the diversity of the items, weapons and armors  as big as in wow ( meaning you got LOADS of different looking armors a single class can wear and loads of different looking weapons? And is Itemfever present in this game ?

I'm not a WoW fanboi or anything and i'm not trying to troll or start flamefest :p

I haven't experienced what the game has to offer in end-game yet, bet I feel there is a lot more diversity in Warhammer then there is in WoW; and from the sounds of things you were really happy with the diversity you had in WoW.

First; there is a lot of diversity between the classes for each race. I think Chaos is the prime example of this with how different a Marauder looks to a Zealot. Each class for each race has different options when creating your character so you can have your own unique little look.

Secondly; the game has an option to "dye" your armour (and it's quite cheap too), so you can pick whatever colours you want your armour to look and have further customization there.

From what I've seen so far, a number of the low-levels items do use the same model and whatnot. It might bother you but as you progress I'm sure things will really open up. Hope this helps.

From what I read so far pretty much everyone from the same class looks *very * much alike regardless of the character creation options which are limited.

That said, a few good options which will make a difference are trophies (albeit the ones I've seen have been teeny weeny maybe you can see them under a microscope types) and probably most prominently dyes. Dyes are really going to be able to set you apart or color your guild in their own colors.

Well, I have always been a bit of stickler for customization and have often been unable to play games that make you all like clones.

Given that I didn't follow WAR at all and decided at the last minute to play it meant I didn't even think about that side of it.

Yes early on everyone of each class looks very alike, but they way I looked at it was as if it was some sort of race uniform . But it's not bothered me so much, maybe as a result of playing games that limit appearance like AoC, TR.

It's easy to dye your stuff different colours, and lets hope there are a good few armour sets to play with! As for WoW? Well to be fair alot of the items in WoW looked pretty awful and it was only the later pvp items and Tier sets that looked good.

So... is the short answer to the OP's question "no?"  It sounds like there is very little diversity.  Is this right?  I thought I saw someone write that in later levels, the armor and weapons look really cool, but do they look the same?  If so, that's a major turnoff.

So far from lvl 1-10 I cam across 3 different armor looks....This is not too bad imo, and hope as you level this will increase.

    playing: Dragon Age
    Waiting: for FF14, Mass Effect
    Want to try: Fallen Earth

At level 15, I am seeing absolutely no diversity. Everyone looks the same except for the colors of their armor, and trophies are essentially pointless since they are so small. Also, trophies for belts do not even work.

Yea, I got the low level shoulder trophy quest reward for my squig herder and at level 10 I still don't even have shoulder armor to put it on...

Looks like they still need to do some tweaking, but I care more about looks than diversity.

Sig so that badges don't eat my posts.

Do you really think anybody can answer that question? Considering nobody has even hit the max level yet and there's still a lot to explore.

The short term answer to the OP's answer is yes and no - depending what you're looking for. Learn to read peoples responses.

Yeah i found that  every set of armor and weapon I got looked the same.  I kinda wish that they would have used different models  for different weapons.  But oh well the game is still fun.

It's a shame that the armor/weapon models have little diversity at low tiers, but this starts to change around rank 18/19. Which, during CB, was something that really irked me. I love that all of the classes have a different feel, but it sucks as a new player, having armor set after armor set/dagger after dagger, look exactly alike.

It's an interesting duality.  On the one hand, all characters of a given class share the same overall look.  This was intentional on the part of the development team.  You can identify a Bright Wizard or a Witch Hunter from a mile off, for example.  The "class uniform" analogy was accurate.

On the other hand, there's a lot of diversity within that particular style.  Early on, most characters look very much alike.  As you progress, though, you start to get cooler and cooler pieces of armor.  On top of that, most armor pieces can be dyed with primary and secondary colors.  You can change this whenever the mood strikes, or can come up with a combination that's more or less uniquely you.  Or your whole guild could settle on a color combination that identifies them as a group.  Anyway, when you mix dyes together with the various armor pieces you get a lot of individual diversity without ever breaking that class identifying look.

Looking even closer, there's also the whole trophy system.  Various accomplishments in the game grant you a trophy that can be worn on your character.  One trophy slot becomes available for every 10 levels, giving you a total of 5 at rank 40.  The ones I've seen so far have been somewhat subtle, but they do add that extra personal touch that's pretty cool while also bragging about your accomplishments.  There are probably well over a hundred trophies to be found, and some won't be easy at all.  What's more, each trophy typically has multiple spots where it can go.  For example, my Witch Hunter's shoulder armor is a bandolier.  There are about 5 different places along its length where a trophy can be placed simply by clicking on the equipped trophy in the character window and then using the left/right arrows to move it.  So even if two people happen to have exactly the same trophies, they probably still won't have them in the exact same place.

When you put all the options together -- armor pieces times dye combinations times trophy items times trophy locations -- the number of possibilities number over 100,000.  That means that each person can look different from anyone else on his server.  In fact, even if every Witch Hunter (for example) wound up wearing exactly the same armor flavor of the month (like happens in WoW's end game), the dyes and trophy options combine to allow every Witch Hunter on a server to look different.

What you won't have is the mis-matched hodge podges that you get in WoW where a lot of the stretches during your leveling you look like a color-blind refugee from the bargain basement.  And how about all those cases in WoW where you find armor with really great stats only to find out that it looks horrendous when you check it out in the dressing room?  WoW is constantly forcing you to choose between fashion and functionality until you get to the end game.  And then when you DO get to the end game and start your gear grinds you end up with mis-matched armor sets that look great as a whole, but not so hot when you're wearing half of each.  WAR never sticks you in that position.

Oh, and here's one other really nice thing:  Helmets.  I always hated how when you equip a helm in an MMO, you're character gets an instant haircut.  It must be really uncomfortable for those long-haired night elves shoving all that up inside their helms!  WAR actually takes a realistic approach and your hairstyle is still visible on your character after you equip a helmet.  If you have long hair with braids, those will still come out from under your helm and go down your back.

Is there room for improvement?  Sure.  Hopefully they'll eventually implement appearance slots for your character so that you can keep wearing a particular piece that you really like the look of, while still receiving benefits from the upgrade that has better stats.  I'm sure they'll add more armor over time as well.

Great post. Sums it up nicely.

Didn't even once came to me that items and looks might be similar or bland. Most staffs for shamies only vary in details at lower levels but that is my only issue; I gave my robe a nice color, got myself a hidden tome unlock cloak at level 8 and pretty much look unique compared to other shamsters. No problem here, yet. (While AoC was very disapointing with the same bland models for everyone).

i may be wrong or some ppl may dissagree, but i dont think there is supposed to be much diversity. these are armys, each class basically looks the same. kind of like the movie 300, they all have the same armor on.
