The Open RvR Roleplaying Server ROCKS!!!

Not only is there pvp happening all over the place all the time (I constantly see recent battle markings on the map), people are participating in the scenarios too.  I get into a scenario within literally a minute of queueing up every time.  This is the way I like it.  I'm willing to try scenarios out, but I prefer the server overall to be more open world rvr centric so that the open world is not abandoned while everybody jumps in scenarios.  The fun level is approaching the days of Everquest when I first started MMOing.  Great stuff.

This game is the type that slowly grows on you. If you quit before playing it for long, you will only miss out on the good stuff.

Yeah, the ruleset is great for me. I am playing on the EU EN one as a shammy and had a few nice skirmishes so far. Thing is; we need moar Orderlings. Have been waiting in the queue for hours to try out some scenario RvR but it was in vain.

Anyone tips on which scenario to join as Destruction for a reasonable chance of entering?

    Thanks!

We're talking about "Alarielle" are we?

I have to agree that this game grows on you (me) I really disliked it at first. It's like picking up smoking I guess

How is the open PVP?  I'm torn where to play.

I've seen high level destruction just lay waste to whole groups of lower level order.  It makes me worry about my long term future on that server.

Heh, I've been really torn. I'm currently playing on eerie downs, but. I'm a little obssessive compusive about naming. I can't stand running through the game and looking at the names like oldman and tank ;). I thinkin about moving to an open rvr server, where the names are a bit stricter.

Us roleplayers do have better manners ;).

im in the open rvr roleplay server too. best choice the way i see it

i only do open world rvr. I do not do the instanced que stuff

they do seem to conflict a little as people in the group just randomy dissapear and it usually breaks up the group and fun.

im curious what this will do in the long run

it feels kinda like the scenarios are hurting the open rvr, but i guess its cool for quick action

    see you in there

    cheers

I decided to try an open rvr ruleset as well and I am having a lot of fun.  As far as  getting into scenarios, I noticed in beta sometimes you had to wait awhile, but if you go order you get in really easy.

    Totally agree with scenarios part.

It is crap. It just like WOW's BG.

  • My server is low population, but seems to be growing.  However currently the RvR can be very few and far between.  There is a big difference in action between  medium and a full server.

Hopefull all the new ones fill up to medium.  But i am worried people will start on lows, not get an instant fix and then roll on the high servers and you will get a strange effect where the low ones never fill up.

I don't think this will happen but it seems possible.

Its not really true the scenario do not hurt RvR.  In fact they kind of help it.  It gives people something to do during the pauses in the action.

It is true that while doing a scenario those people could be patroling a zone.  But a lot of people do not want to do that and would leave the game if they felt they had to be on patrol duty.

Pulling guard duty is not a reward it is often a punishment.  For those people who really want that sort of thing they can do it and patrolling does not require tons of people.

But the scenarios actually let people have more action more often and the people I rolled with tended to do RvR then queue up when it seemed like a good time.  Not the other way around.

The thing is you never know when you wget some good RvR.  You know exactly what you get in a scenario.  So people weight RvR as a priority over scenario.  You can do scenarios at your leisure.  Therefore they are secondary.

Basically you have it backwards.  I am not saying you should ever do a scenario of course.
