So, Xfire was legitimate enough for you guys to show the decline in AOC -but it's not legitimate enough to show that Warhammer is not the big hit we wished it to be?
Xfire is ok for a rate of change or trend. But using the absolute number or ranking is pretty useless
The thing with AoC was the large and consistent decline.
Even then it is not hugely reliable, but it is ok for trends.
One comment here... Thought everybody was aware of that AoC does not work very well with Xfire. People stop using xfire with AoC. Even today this is still the case. AoC and xfire does not mix very well.
Not everyone uses Xfire so there icould be a lot of misconception on game ranks. I used to use it but do I really need to show people how many hours ive spent in game? The ToK tells me how many hours ive played anyways so I see no point.
Really the only the X-fire is good for is getting free video capture software and its not limiting you to 30 seconds.

Who are you addressing? Is there someone here in particular who used x-fire to show the decline in Conan but now discounts its efficacy?

Xfire is a very good tool to measure subscriber trends. We should take the number after one month and then simply compare it every subsequent month to see if numbers are going up or down.
One should never use it to estimate subscription numbers on it's own.
Must we go through this with every launch? Why bash games just because you dont like it or are playing a different one.I like all MMOS for there own reasons.Currently playing WAR does that mean i dislike WoW or must bash it?No.This community is terrible. We should like to see all MMOS succeed and make money and keep bringing new adventures to the table for us to enjoy.Seriously give it a rest children.

Wouldn't it simply mean you're measuring WAR players using XFire, rather than WAR players? I mean, I sure as hell don't use XFire, and I'm sure I'm not alone on that one.
from a guild of 20-30 people, I'm not aware of a single person who uses Xfire....
not a very effective measure in all honesty.

Yes I have to ask where are those people that post on the AoC xfire thread who play war, interesting to see if they say anything about the debut. They both "shipped" over a million copies, war didn't knock WoW off at release like AoC did + AoC's release was staggered where war's was all at once everywhere I think. So initally we can see with X-fire between the two that AoC had better numbers for launch. Is X-fire a valid measuring stick ? I don't think so, its a too small a percentage from a massive overall. X-fire was good at showing how the same amount of people played for less amount of time for a period, those interested should compare war 4 months down the road. I know at release AoC had nearly 90k hours and 9k players.

Yes, but if you assume that the percentage of the entire gaming population using xfire remains reasonably constant, which is a fair assumption, then it allows you to get a general idea of whether people are playing more or less of a particular game month to month and vs other games.
It's a sample group, like when people do political polls they don't include everyone who can vote, they ask 0.0001% for example.
Kind of derailing this but you people who say it's completely useless either don't have friends outside of your voice chat or don't play shooters hehe. It's probably the easiest way to get into the same server as friends in an FPS. It also provides ventrillo quality voice chat as well as chatting to multiple clients at once, so all in all, it's useful for a lot of things, but for statistics of actual people playing a game it is not.
At best, Xfire measures the subscriber base of a age bracket. For example, a mature rated game will have less Xfire usage than a game played by a younger crowd. This leads to its unreliability.
I have the EU (GOA) version of WAR and X-fire does not find WAR on my computer, so my playtime does not count on X-fire. Is this the case for other europeans too?
Oh that will go up to about 80/90 K no doubt. But within 7 weeks we'll see a big bang. - burned out end game play - launch of a new expansion of some obscure company with real world PvP.
----- Every WAR copy sold is a free publicity for WotLK.
Haha that made me laugh , WOTLK will do nothing but bring more ppl to WAR over time because 50% of the bored WoW pop who think WOTLK will be the new hot thing and that they will have fun with WoW again are just wrong .
Before BC ive done EVERYTHING on my 60 priest raid/pvp wise i was so damn excited about WoW again but then BC came out i lvled a paly to 70 played for about a month then quit because WoW was the same old crap . Even worst raiding was worthless to pvp .

Alright, that makes sense. But to make a good estimate on how popular a game is (by using XFire), you should know what percentage of the total number of MMO players actually use XFire?
I mean, if 1000 players play MMO's, and only 250 use XFire, it doesn't mean anything whether or not all those 250 people play WAR, if on the other hand the remaining 750 (the ones NOT using XFire) play WoW?
I could be wrong though (and be speeking geeberish), its getting late .

Once again I have to ask if you are serious.
I am almost at a loss how say this without getting banned. You are either a) high b) clueless or c) just making crap up because you love WoW so much.
It is impossible for anyone to even participate in a fully mature endgame in Warhammer in 7 weeks.
And if you think one zone in WOTLK is going to destroy the multi zone RvR of Warhammer you are silly. Wintergrasp is one keep. One zone with one keep and the keep assault is timed.
People may even think that the keep zone of Wintergrasp is nicer than a single keep assault in Warhammer. But that still won't mean poop. It is like comparing a BG to world PvP.
Warhammer has 72 capture points, 24 keeps, 6 fortresses and 2 capitals and . All of which can be open for attack simultaneously and none of which will have a time limit for assaulting.
And blizzard is going to destroy that with one world PvP zone the size of of Westfall (ie. 1/20 the size of WAR's RvR areas in total) that has one keep with a prearranged assult?
That is preposterous.
We'll see....I'll just give a little hint here:
"... the new achievements system promotes the raiding of all capitols and cities in the complete Azeroth world. Raiding on Thrall in Ogrimmar will happen more on a PvP server than the ONE siege capitol of a 500 men capped server in WAR...."
But I wouldn't want to spoil the fun in advance. 7 weeks .
OOOOO LOOK LOOK I GOT A ACHIEVEMENT FOR DOING NOTHING THAT MATTERS.......
Can you look them out of org or SW, can you ransack the city, can you even do anything other then run in and kill thrall?
Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.
