Wrong! This is not the "usual". It was not suggested the op was an "idiot" because he did not like WAR. It was because he obviously did not even bother to read the manual. Do you play WAR? If you did then you would know why the harsh responses. The op simply says untruths. These are not a matter of opinion. He also has not bothered to learn to play the game. He is using his lack of understanding with WAR as game flaws. Then is trying to tell people that it is the games fault. If you did play you would know why no one is worried about anything and why the op became a target.

I'll agree with you here. The chat system needs an update/upgrade, and linking items is really a *MUST*. I can't even count how many times I /feedbacked that during Beta!

Quest drops don't go into your normal inventory. They go into the quest tab of your inventory. Open your bags, and you'll see 3 Tab areas at the top: Icons, List, (which are just 2 different ways to see your inventory), and something that looks like an open book- That's your Quest items. Click that, and the item you need to interact with will be in there.

Just hit the Healer, who will be right near where you released to, to remove your death debuff.

I'm not going to point fingers and call you Troll, because I have no idea if you are, or if you're just really frustrated because things aren't what you were expecting (which is neither good nor bad). ? is mail fixed yet, so one can send an item to another class char that could use the item?

? is bank fixed yet, so one can stash items that may be of use in crafting later (eg the huge number of different types of seeds used in cultivation) and by stashing possible valuable items in bank, open up loot space in bag to collecting more loot?

in RvR usually kept getting nuked for 400 and 600 dmg, while in mele was lucky to do 50 to 90 dmg, and the destruction side almost always was well organized whereas the order side had a few archers in the background, no tanks to take it to capturing objectives and getting a heal, forgetaboutit...

? crafting, geez seems all one can do is buy weapon and armor upgrades from npc, no real effective weapon/armor crafting, much less accumulate components needed to try and make "talismans"

? are servers still caped at 500 or 1000, it was rare i saw more than 20 except in the nooby starter areas

edit... OP, might want to detail what system/gpu you are using, playing on a laptop with integrated graphics, not likely you would have that great a gaming experience in a modern shader 3 or 4, broadband game. Unless all you wanted to do was complain, vs getting feedback on possible solutions to problems.

My favorite part by far is

"I guess the only way to respond to someone is to type their name? WTF?"

First off as everyone who addressed this mentioned you can hit the r key and it will respond. but even if you had to type someones name in to talk to them.... I mean that would be a gamebreaker for me. Having to type in a game to talk to people WTF?!?!?!

Obviously the OP has only played 1 MMO, WOW....maybe. The OP probobly doesnt understand that not all MMO's work the same way. They all have a basic foundation but not the same features.

I have played plenty of MMO's that dont allow linking items to chat and thats no loss. In fact it keeps chat to what its supposed to be used for and thats chat. Use the Auction to sell your items cause some people dont wanna see you spamming your wares on chat.

Also the OP didnt read the instructions and tried to play it exactly like his previous MMO, and when things didnt work he didnt understand that this is a different game and you need to learn how to play. Just cause you've been playing WOW or whatever for 5 years doesnt mean you can pick up and play another game without learning how to play.

The one issue none of you fanbois have addressed is the gold spamming.

Why aren't the spammers being banned within minutes of their first spam.

Are you telling me the developers can't afford to hire someone for $8 an hour to monitor the chat channel 24/7 ? That's pathetic.

Sorry not a fanboi, I only played the game in beta and when I do play another mmo WAR might be it. So obviously I havent seen any spammers, and I wouldnt even take his word for it that there are any. There might indeed be gold spammers but the OP is an idiot and his word means squat.

I haven't recieved 1 single gold spam in War yet.. Have a level 18 warior priest, a 17 marauder, and an army of alts.  Gold isn't very important (at least not yet) and I have atleast 18 gold on each of my main characters, and have never run low.  I'm sure if it becomes a problem, EA-mythic will create some type of chat filter.  My experience in WoW, EQ2, and just about every other mainstreem mmo has been the oposite, as I'm usually bombarded by tells for gold sites within a few moments of logging in (WoW and EQ2 being the worst, even after they put up filters, prevenatives, etc..)

As long as gear is easily earned from influence, pqs, and renown, I don't see a large need for people to stockpile large amounts of gold.. you should even have enough gold for your mount well before you can use it.

  • StridarStridar Member UncommonPosts: 134

lol, wow has made gaming to easy, people can no longer think for themselves when playing mmo's.  i wish all these morons would have been around when eq first came out, there were no quest, there wasn't a ah, you didn't have arrows or anything else pointing you where to go...etc. i could go on and on about how great that game was and how dumbed down games are these days.  the OP seems to have logged into to war for about a hour or two and then logged out and made this post.  think back real hard and did you really need the ah on the first day you played wow?  did you find it on the first day you played wow?  i'm guessing no, but since then you've spent the last 2 years with your char standing within 30 foot of the ah, spamming chat with nonsense 80% of the time your logged into the game.  forget about wow and play a new game with a open mind for a change.

Mailed stuff to others and my alts since 1st day with out any problems, what's wrong with mail?

stashed items in the bank on the first day without any problems, don't know what your saying here really, it's a big box with a bunch of little boxes to drag stuff to from your bags.

i get dropped by melee all the time, the destruction side being more organized isn't a bug of the game, join a guild, start a group...etc.  In PUG order groups against guild destruction groups i've usually lost, in pug order groups against pug destruction groups i've normally split, in my order guild groups against destruction anything, i've normally won.  same as it would work out in any game.
? crafting, geez seems all one can do is buy weapon and armor upgrades from npc, no real effective weapon/armor crafting, much less accumulate components needed to try and make "talismans"
huh? what game have you played that crafting playing any role within the first week of the game?
? are servers still caped at 500 or 1000, it was rare i saw more than 20 except in the nooby starter areas
i had more then 20 people around me for the first 10 lvls i played and on every alt i've made, maybe your on a very low population server?

Are you suggesting no one is playing? WAR has a population problem but it is not lack of players. Last night about a dozen severs were full and there was a wait to get in. Mythic will need to address this since I was not able to get on my main sever last night do to it being full. Lack of players at any level is not a problem with WAR.

Yeah but its not hard to fill a server if it is 500 Player Capped i believe is his question.

I hope this is sarcasm. Because if it isn't, then it is just sad.

The game isn't that old. Gold spam cannot be dealt with as simply as here is a tell, ban the sender. The devs have to gather evidence and make sure that the sender's conduct violates the EULA/TOS/COC. This takes time. If it becomes enough of an issue, they want to be sure to have the necessary facts and documentation to take legal action. Again, it takes time.

Mythic is well-known for combating gold sellers and they will continue to do so in WAR; it just takes time (well more than 1 or 2 weeks).

And besides, I played almost all day today and got 1 tell. As a matter of fact my guild all got the same message from the same spammer, so if they are only using the one, its not a big deal. I put him on ignore and reported him. Compare this to other games that recently released, and I was getting 10-20 tells an hour from numerous players. I am not worried at all and have total faith in Mythic that they will take care of gold spam asap.

Are you serious? What more evidence do you need than someone spamming a public channel or shouting in a zone " gold 4 sale @ scumbag.com ?

You can't link items in chat so if you do happen to find something nice, chances are it will not be usable for your class, there's no way to trade or sell it.
I'm assuming there's no auction house or at least I have not been able to find one.
Solo quests somehow magically turn in group quests???  You can be working an area and suddenly the monsters turn into completely different level mobs that one shot you?  Meanwhile you can't complete the noob quests because all the monsters in the area are suddenly impossible to kill?  Unexaplained timers showing up on the screen, when you joined nothing???  It's like just being in the area autojoins you to stuff?
Video options?  No gamma control and game is dark as hell.  I've got a headache from hell from squinting all weekend trying to see wtf I'm doing.
Basically the game is about 1/2 complete.  It's a mess.  It's AOC all over again.  Nothing makes sense and with chat so horribly broke you can't even find a guild if you wanted to join one.  I thought AOC was bad, but my God, this POS takes the cake.
     Update...
OK... I found the warcamp and the flightmaster, was able to get to a city and found the AH so I might actually not uninstall the game until I play a little.
For those saying the monitor has a gamma setting, yes it does, but when you turn it up it screws it up for surfing the net.  No excuse for no in-game gamma setting.
The chat system is terrible and not being able to link weapons is a killer.  Being able to link weapons and bs about where you found them gives you something to do in the downtime between grinding.  This needs to be fixed.  No excuse for not having this in the game.

OMG QQ some more lol. so your saying that since chat isnt the same as WoWs its messed...hahaha god...why should they be able to link weapons...its a WoW feature...not a WAR feature...

if your looking for WoW....go back and play it...simple as that nuff said

So ya.. a dozen were like that and more than a dozen were low/low or med/low..

I'm not sure exactly how you think its going to be addressed.  Let's say half the servers (to make it positive) have to many people.. and the other half don't have enough.  This is what I consider an issue in a *new* game.

Hell I can log on the two servers I picked and walk around in the "open rvr" areas... and see no one.. for hours.  This while I wait for a scenario...

Or I can log in and wait just as long.. in line... its very odd but its got both extremes for sure.

i cant see how anyone can make any kind of informed descision in one day . the op really must be very impatient and a bit stupid for starting up such a thread because it just makes him look a fool . i gave vanguard two weeks play before i realised it was the game for me ( although i gather things have improved since then ) . also i remember wow upon release having all sorts of issues . things hav nt always been as smooth and polished as it is now .

if you look in these forums theres very few trolling threads and the ones that are around dont have a lot of people agreeing with the op .

i think that bodes well for warhammer .

  • vidiotkingvidiotking Member Posts: 587

Simply put; this game is NOT a mess.  It's actually in pretty good shape for a new mmo.  I've found very few bugs so far, and have only experienced a lil  bit of lag.

    Vanguard, now that's a mess.

Umm yea. I know it is a problem I said as much in my post and Mythic needs to address it. You quoted my post but did you read it. I think it is an issue to. I was asking the one I quoted if they were talking about a lack of players. A lack of players at any level is not the problem.

Actually, on my server, Phoenix Throne, the spammers are most definitely being banned within minutes of their spam.

How do I know this you ask?

B/c the GMs send an in-character, server-wide (actually, when I think about it, I'm not 100% they are server-wide, they may only be sent to the main-cities) pop-up message detailing the name of the person or people being banned, and why. It usually goes something like:

"Hail brothers and sisters, through the concerted efforts of our Witch Hunters, the vagabound merchant "Goldspammer", has been banished from the realm forthwith for his crimes against the people. He was convicted of scamming citizens w/ promises of unearthly wealth."

I have to say I've really been impressed w/ the whole thing.
