Something like Cormac McCarthy's "Blood Meridian" in game form... the wild west... native vs white man... maybe instead of making it all native vs white man, you can have evil white man vs native and friendly white man... either way the game would kick ass... sorry I love the concept of MMORPG, think it is fascinating, but I don't like fantasy stuff or space/future/aliens or even straight war sims... a cop or western game would be perfect

I would love to see something like this.
There was a thread related to the exact same topic like yesterday and from what i remember people stated theres already 3 games out with the same concpet/idea
I can't find that thread you speak of. Can someone tell me those games? are they any good? I'm talking a kick ass western that everyone would like to play.

That was the thread
A new mmo for me to try? Sounds like a plan to me. A good western would be pretty cool. Depends on what it plays like, I suppose.
How could an MMO possibly survive without a million different races, races with pointy ears, stubby legs, dog heads, cat heads, or tentacles.
I mean, everybody would have to be HUMAN. Except for the Texans. They're SOOPER-human.

To the guy talkin about "irl", these are mmorpg discussion forums not bashing on people for playing games forum
Nobody plays "IRL" anymore, not since the game economy went down the crapper. The population is nothing to write home about either. And don't even get me started on the mods in "IRL".
As for the topic, I would be all for a Western MMO. It seems to be one of those unexplored territories for MMORPGs, and there's gold to be found in them thar hills.

Playing: Nothing
Played: Champions Online, CoX, STO, PSO, WoW, lots of free-to-play crap
Looking Forward To: DC Universe Online, Blade and Soul
the idea of western mmorpg would be nice nice idea
I can just imagine it now. An action MMO or something, where you could be a bounty hunter with six shooters, or even a WoW-clone MMO, that would also be awesome.
Activision, Blizztard... GUN MMO... yes pls.
You could get creative with the "teams"... miners, settlers, cowboys, outlaws, traders, skinners, lawmen, indians, war parties, etc...
is Red Dead Redemption my answer to this years old thread?
yes, i know its not a mmorpg. but at this point i'll settle for a great single player western with some multiplayer extras online
Wild Wild West MMO?
Yes, please.
Red Dead Redemption is a great single player game, but not a particularly long one. There's about 30 hours in it if you're going for 100% completion and doing all the side stuff as well as the main plot.
The multiplayer is pretty shallow at the moment. It has all the staple matches of a multiplayer shooter like deathmatch, capture-the-bag, free-for-all, etc .. the only real difference is Free Roaming, which puts you in a stripped down copy of the single player game world and lets you fight with/against a small amount of other players (16 is max, I believe).
There's very little content in Free Roam at the moment. 8 different PvE hideouts that you can repeat solo or co-op, and a number of challenges that you can work towards such as "shoot 5 birds out of the sky to become Sharpshooter rank 2". Both award XP.
Your character gains ranks which open up new weapons, titles, character skins and different horses as well as access to different types of multiplayer matches.
There's also a Co-Op mission pack that's due to be released as (free) DLC some time in June.
I think it's considered racist now to make games where cowboys kill Native Americans, we're not living in the silly 1930-50's anymore but a the Good, the Bad and the Ugly style type of MMORPG game would actually be awesome. With Red Dead Redemption in the market now, Westerns have become popular again.
