That's over 1 whole point higher than WOW's rating (7.6). That for me is the mark of a superior game. Now that I finally got the money to purchase the game, I've been thinking about cancelling my WOW subscription and uninstalling the game. For those that've actually played the game. Is the hype really justified? . Serious question here.

yeah, because we all know the ratings on this site matter so much. I don't think WoW has been on the top games list in over 2 years. Why bother bringing that up? It doesn't matter.

You will have a few tell you this game isnt all that great because of instancing, lack of gear sets etc. I for one have found my new MMO home. Its a great game (i.e. see the two official reviews on gamerankins.com) and its only going to get better.
Yes, the game has its flaws, but its only been out a week and its working well. The ideas are there, and once FunCom can implement those things they promised us, the game in my opinion will be amazing. I highly recomment the game.
Those ppl that are rating it atm have not true picture of the game yet. So lets wait for 3-4 months and lets see if its anything more than the hype bubble.

Playing: World of Warcraft.
Played: Lord of the Rings Online, Starwars Galaxies.
Tried: Starwars the Old Republic, Everquest 2, Guild Wars, Vanguard, Age of Conan, Aion.
I am not gona talk about rankings. Not gona talk about flaws, about instancing or about everything that could be better with this game.
What i am gona tell you is that i have been playing this game like i havent played ANY other MMO since Everquest.
This game is fun!
At this point I'd say it isn't justified till many bugs have been fixed. I think a lot of people are rating it based on the first few levels 1-20 which are very polished, have a simpler combat system and really are not representive of the game play or quality 20+.
Longer term I really think it could be. The game has a lot of nice features. Great graphics and an immersive environment, good quests, and some nice pvp plans with sieges and castles etc. Combat system is engaging and a new twist that is pretty fun. It does have some issues which I hope get resolved at some time.

I'd wait if you can for a buddy key or a trial if possible, then again you may like the game but after level 20 im thinking you will not, but thats up to you to decide on paying for it and likeing the game past that point.

Why not after 20 ? no voice overs ?
Most likely you will get bored at end level but from 1 to 70 the game is fun to play ( for most ), lately they did change and redo some areas and as well add more quests ( not zones that they were promissing for a while now ) .
p.s. Note: END GAME = there is no meaningful end game atm ( maybe if few months .. dont belive that upcomming PvP patch will solve everything but it may postpone bordnes till some more things are added )

Dude I have only been out of the game a week or so lol.
all im saying it try it b4 you buy it.
40 on it a grind instances or same old area's villas ect.
I'd not recommend anyone buy this game at the moment. try b4 you buy. if you must.
No it's not justified.. it never is.. the game obviously isn't 2 full points better than everything else.. Did you really expect that?
It's recently released... fanbois vote it high... it was 9.03 yesterday... 8.96 today... and will go down...

Please, please buddy, don't buy the game. I bought the CE of all things and regret it. I'm not saying it because I want to flame the game, but because honestly you should not spend your money on this. You will like it for the first 20 levels; so get it if you want to level every class 1-20.
Other than that, give the buddy key a try (oh but you have to pay to download their software haha, just torrent it).

If you are currently playing WOW and are considering jumping to AOC, I can say only this : DONT. You will find AOC annoys you no end.
1) Itemization in this game SUCKS.
2) Raiding is - well sucky.
3) Healing sucks. Its all AOE.
4) Crashes and stability are still a huge issue.
5) There may very well be more people in Ironforge @ 3am PST than there are online on ALL of AOC during primetime.

I'm coming from Wow and only find this about half right.
For one thing, I love the healing as a bear shammy. A healing/melee class that improves their healing through melee attacks. It's a well thought up design for that class, idk about the other two healers as I haven't played one. Instead of spammin a constant stream of heals you throw a HoT or two up, do some melee'ing to buff up the next round. Cast your big heal if people start to get to low.
Itemization isn't that bad, it makes the game less of a gear comparision. A lower lvl'd lesser geared player has a chance. Rather than the WoW's whoever is better geared will probabley easily win system.
And no, primetime is fine. It's all the other times that the servers are empty.
Stability does suck though, I myself dont have much(once in a while in high pop encounters I will lag up pretty good, it passes though) of a problem on my laptop for some reason. But many do.
** it's a decent game, if your burned out from WoW give it a shot. If you're still enjoying WoW then it would be best to stick with it.
The user's ranking is so bad meanwhil (6.72) that further warnings about this game maybe are not even necessary
I rated this game a 6.1, looking at the User Rating now (6.71) slowly more people are starting to agree with me.
Of course 6.1 doesn't mean that all aspects of the game are bad, but it is not enough to keep playing. Especially since there are enough games out that are more fun to play.
But see, that item system that WoW uses is what most people want. In a MMORPG, it's fun and rewarding to spend some time getting some uber weapon that makes your character much stronger than they were before they had it. Plus look at what AoC just added. Everyone is clamoring to get the new pvp gear, yet they say that itemization isn't important.
Itemization is one of the core features of an RPG, let alone an MMORPG. It's a way to progress your character. If I wanted to play a game where skill really mattered and we were all on a level playing field in terms of armor and weapons, I would play an FPS or fighting game.
Just my opinions, of course.

This game overall is so easily 8+ its not even funny.
Those that bash it are (not understanding the dynamics of the combat system, have crappy ass computers, were looking for a game to give them IWIN buttons)

Rating it below 7 and bashing it are not the same.
Bashing a game is voting 1 in each score and entering a comment like "It doesn't have popsicles".
What it also does is destroy your weight count if you do that for many games, making your vote useless, counting for nothing.
Rating the game based on your own opinion gives... an average rating. And for this particular game, it is at this moment a 6.71.
Wich isn't bad. Apparently AoC is a good game.
Yeah yeah yeah, WAR SMAR, who cares, when Aion hits the scene in my personal opinion all these games will take second place. For now I will give my rogue a break and try this game tho.

If I had to rate AOC I'd give it maybe a 2.
My computer is a hog and very well tuned. One day it would run ok the next i'm crashing like a dog every 20 minutes. Deleting shader caches and doing everything possible to stabilize the game on your system is the real game.
The PVP sucks. Gankfest and spawncamping nightmare.
The PVE is sparse after level 52 and virtually non existent at level 80.
Basically it's farking boring. Nice graphics do not make a game.
Lastly the game has tanked so hardcore servers are ghost towns.
