I have no idea who decided to have it first ... do you? I also would not know if the idea was used by the other after hearing they were going to do it ... do you?
I mean come on. Who cares? The games cater to completely different crowds anyway.

come up with their own content.

This will NOT be turned into another EQ2 vs. WoW flamewar BS thread so just stop NOW.
The simple honest truth is NO one has ANY idea who had the idea first, WoW fans will assume it was WoW, EQ2 fans will assume it was EQ2. No one knows and it really doesn't matter. I will say that just because it was only recently announced as a feature in EQ2 does NOT mean it was only recently thought of and added. They existed for quite a while now, at least as far back as the first time I got to play it hands on at the Fansite VIP event.
To answer someone else's question they're taxi service, point A to point B only, no free roaming.
Feel free to discuss the screenshots all you want, but any further discussion about who had it first will simply be deleted.

It's definately a shame to hear that the flying mounts can't be purchased, or attained through a quest, and are just a taxi service. I would imagine we'll get to have our own after a few expantions though. The froglok model was a nice suprise aswell, very nice to see that they don't look like rainbow coloured Garry Coleman anymore. Maybe now the EQ2 website will figure out the frogloks not a secret anymore and unlock the images on their site of the little froaker.

Someone made comment about the envirament in the Screens, maybe they turned down the graphics for law of Ram. Because if you think about it right now as it stands, isnt the Ram 1 GB you need for the highest viewing ability?. Just a thought but nice Screen anyway.
The Froglok color variations are cool.
The flying mounts rule, cant wait to see the flying carpets.
Don't take it personally dude... They just don't like criticism of EQ2 on this site. You can flame WoW all you like, but EQ2 is above reproach.
it has nothing to do with certain staff members not being able to handle criticism; it's the constant bickering between EQ2 and WoW fans. Admin even stated he does not want to hear anymore EQ vs WoW threads.
If a comment was made to say xxxxxxx is better in WoW than EQ2 because of xxxxxxx or vice versa in a thread that has nothing to do with the comparising of the two it's going to get deleted.
www.mmorpg.com forums have been littered with WoW vs EQ2 and EQ2 vs WoW and it's become very tiresome. It's become tiresome because it has become very repititive and very unoriginal. After the 32,113 post of WoW vs EQ2 or EQ2 vs WoW, topics just become mundane and very tiresome to read.
There is a search button here (above your login name)...please use that.
Also, we will delete any attacks on one or the other because enough is enough. Ive deleted plenty of EQ2 rocks over WoW posts too so it has nothing to do with a secret motive behind a particular mmorpg.
I just can't wait until they both come out because all of this immature bickering has to stop. I swear to gawd do you all see how immature this is? Flame wars over mmorpgs...reminds me of 7th grade nerd fights when someone screamed out "AD&D is better than D&D" people just shook their heads and walked on while the party involved thought the world was going to end.

Read the overview of the News Discussion forum. It states "staying on topic will be strictly enforced" (or something to that effect). This thread is to discuss the screens - not compare them to WoW. If you want to say they are bland...cool, go for it.
Make another darned WoW/EQ2 comparison and you are likely to get your post deleted. I think Kunou gave a pretty fair warning in the topic right before you went and did what he said not to do...so please cut the 35pt font "i am so suprised" garbage.
As En1gma stated...the WoW vs. EQ thing is out of hand here...it is like a political debate with both sides so blurred with anger and bias it is downrigtht laughable at times. Both are incredible products that will bring the genre to new heights. I find it odd that anyone can have such an extreme opinion of a game from screens and such without playing. Even if you have played one of these games - they are both in beta and you should be focusing your opinions at the devs to help them make a better product.

Says who? Sorry, but I don't like to have my opinions dictated to me. Everything I've heard about EQ2 suggests the contrary.
I find it odd that you should assume I should be in awe of a game given that I haven't played it.
Why? Because you say so? Unfortunately, no. Of course you can delete all the posts you like, but as much as you may want to you can't tell people how to think.
The fact hat you have to constantly censor peoples opinions on it shows that this is not the case. It's quite clear by now that you have some kind of agreement (probably financial) with Sony, and good luck to you. After all, you're obviously in this for the money, but there are also a lot of people who frequent your site out of a passion for the MMORPG genre. I started coming here under the delusion that MMORPG.COM would be the perfect forum to discuss and debate current and upcoming MMORPGs. Over the weeks I've been posting, I've realized that isn't the case.
If EQ2 was anything close to the game you insist it is it would stand up, effortlessly, to criticism. You've made it more than clear that it can't and I'm consequently forced to conclude that it's about to be the next SOE disaster.
On topic, these screenshots are bland.
