I would have to say the friends I made in the game. Game wise, I would have to say that I really liked that feeling you got when you entered a new zone and was kinda scared and excited.
Originally posted by Coldmeat And yeah, SWG is more colorfull than EQ2, but the progression from EQ-SWG-EQ2 is still there. I wouldn't mind the pallete in appropriate areas, like Freeport, but it just seems that it's everywhere, even Qeynos is muted, and dull.
I found EQ2 to be very colorful, but I did fiddle around with the gamma, and gave it a much more "Warmer" feel to it.
There's many things about EQ 1 that make it a great mmorpg. The main being it's versatility in various things. Now the tradeskills is something else to be desired. But depending on your class you choose, you can go off and solo for eons... lol Necro for example. It's only a few things within that game that a necro needs a group. Druid is another that can pretty much solo for eons too. Mage can go so far to.
I played a mage whom yes is lvl 65 and I love my characer, also love playing the druid to.
Fighting, etc. Well whether your by yourself or with friends or even hydra. You can plan out a stategy and proceede and see if it works. There is always room for options in that game and a certain amount of freedoms. I've played eq for a little over 4 yrs with my fiance and although we're pausing to do some beta testing, etc... Eq just has a wide range of positives.

Other fun event we did with some friend. Get drunk and jump off the cliff in the Eastern Plains of Karana, just outside the High Hold Pass zone. We would have a contest to see who could jump the farthest. Ahh, the memories.
Jumping off the cliff in Eastern Wastes and seeing if you could clear the rocks without dying and land in the water. Trying to make it through Kithicor forest at night.
Lying in bed, looking up at the stars, a single thought passed through my head. Where the fuc|{ is my roof.
I would have to say that I miss the small group encounters for quests the most. Having a well tuned group of players makes the whole game better. I would like to thank Verrant (NOT SOE) for the Velious expansion and all the years I had fun playing. I retired with a 65 Pal(origianl toon from 1999) 65 Monk(Iksar) my favorite toon, 40 Vah shir Rouge (tried to keep playing but lost intrest).
I would have to say that Crystal Caverns was one of my favorite dungons, spent most of my 2 toons mid lifes there. The torgren mines where a well thought out add on also.
As far as waiting for EQII, I will have to say, after being in beta for a week now I would rather play WoW. The cities in EQII are split up into 10 or more zones, making travel from one side to the other non-emursing with the splash screens. I know they have to be large for the possible population growth in the future but come on WoW does not have you zone unless you change contenets from what I remember during the stress.
My fav spot was unrest befor any of the expasions...back when it was always full....the constant traines. the ghoul root removing sow...the hectic run to the zone...GOD I LOVE THE SMELL OF A FESTERING HAG IN THE MORNING!!!!

I played EQ1 for 4 years and the things I enjoyed most were:
- The sense of newness and discovery
- The small group game play.
- Spending time with family and friends online doing whatever we wanted to that night.
- Maxing my levels and having newbies stand in awe when I came into the zone.
For me the game lost its appeal in the high end game play. Everything that gave you good loot was huge raid class encounters. Great quests had down and dirty competition for spawns that only showed themselves every 3-7 days. The crafting system was pretty bad as well. Hopefully all of these problems will be addressed effectively in EQ2 with the instance encounters and most of the game play designed for 6 person groups.
