Names..the good , the bad and the ugly

Now dont get me wrong my username is nooblet but i use fantasy names in-game..
I am going to make a bunch of categories of names that ..well...piss me off 
and that are just stupid , plain , bland ..unorigional and yeah....
LOTR- Ah the classic Strider , Gandolf , legolas all of those..completely unoriginal , ugly and now im glad to say frowned upon by the majority of ingame communites 
L33T SPEAK- We have nooblet ( ) a_newb , ROFLCOPTER (i actaully kinda find that one funny) firedude , icedude (those really piss me off) pwnageroxxor , roxmysoxsn00b , ilieks3x etc...i find these names amusing and funny from time to time so i dont mind them too much but they are still bad.
Famous names?_-?=-? I dont really know what to put this under but what i mean by Famous names is extremely popular names from video games mainly or possibly anime and then you see things like this:
XxX_Sepirtoh_XxX XxxxInyuashaXxxxxx XxXcloudXxX Luke_Skywalker ..XxYodaXx etc etc.....i really hate these I think its ok to use a name from a video game(If you like the character or something) aslong as its not extremely mainstream and everyone knows of it.
Plain , bland and boring (No offense 
) Steve , Tom , Frank , George , Jeff , Matt etc....these really urk me for some reason...Using common RL names really ... 
dunno why but i cannot stand them. I suppose they could have some sortve history behind them and a reason for you to use certain ones...but please dont lol...save us all from the torture..
Funny names - yeah I dont mind these 
They could possibly have some relation to an in-game event or something to do with the community etc etc and makin a joke at it with a clever name or some relation to the class etc etc and then just straight up funny ones...like Poonjabber.

Fantasy names - possibly from a name generator or made up yourself with a fantasy type feal or sound to it . All good
Names??- Simple things like fish , eggs , Lightnin , Stallion etc etc...I dont mind these at all there easy to remember and nothing bugs me about them (unless your a RPER i guess these would piss you off) Sure they are quite unoriginal but still...:) simple and easy
More names - yeah sortve inbetween fantasy and other things...cant really think of any nor a named category for it.
Lets hear your Opionoins on this and agrees and disagrees with what i have posted , do you agree with me? do you not? Do you think it was unfair , or maybe some of the bad should be in the good section and the good in the bad?

While I haven't seen any Legolas's or Gimli's, I've seen about 4 or 5 variations of Drizzt so far, and a Raystlyn, and a Raist. Not too many leet names, although there are a few XxName-that-was-takenxX. I mean, if someone, god help them if they did, took the name Coldmeat, I wouldn't name myself XxColdmeatxX. It looks foolish in my opinion. I'd make a character, and /report that SOB that stole my name until it got changed, then remake my character Coldmeat
Plain names don't bother me much. Not as much as people that just name themselves their real name spelled backwards. Which I saw in SWG alot. I think Bob the Orc is pretty amusing frankly.

Best example I can think to give is a guy I killed on Rallos Zek back in the day in EQ. Pimpmastah. I specifically killed him for his name. Made sure it was an xp death too.
I don't mind goofy names. I've had plenty of my own, like my Ranger on Sullon Zek that I named Pheremones Inmuhpee(running around in wolf form alot. hur hur). My ogre SK on Veeshan was named Coldmeat Industry. I actually had to petition to get that name. Name filter wouldn't allow Industry, or Industries, etc. So I tried Screwthenamefilter, or something to that extent, as a lark. And I'll be damned if it didn't go through. So I petitioned myself, and the guide that answered my petition after hearing the story had to be pissing himself with laughter, he even had me pose for a screen shot. Then he bumped it up to the GM who changed it to Industry for me. In DAoC on the pvp server, I had a blademaster named Fixme Imgimped, and a bonedancer named Flavoroftheweak. Which if you played DAoC, those should be pretty self explanatory.
I usually go with an appropriate name on a regular, or RP server, but since I mostly play pvp, I just name myself Coldmeat as my main, then make some goofy names for alts, most of which are throw away characters anyway.
Agreed for the most part... except Legolas drives me absolutly NUTS. Can't remember just one because there are so many. Unless that is, if one is in your guild or a close friend. Which I hope is never the case for me. =P
Let me put it this way:
When I see someone (only in mmo's) with a one word fantasy name, I will have more respect for them off the bat then someone with one of the above, lame-ass names. Not so much the basic, Jeff's, and Kyle's etc. but with X's and numbers.. God. Those people. Everytime I see them, I picture some punk-ass lame-face sitting at his goddam computer. With this stupid look on his face, as he hits those keys to create his ridiculously abysmal name.
As for anything LEET - don't even get me started. My opinions on those are even more harsh than the X's and numbers. I still see the dick-head at his computer, though.
If anyone has felt (for some stupid reason) offended by this I hope you are not one of those people. If you are, let us get into a 'discussion'. I want to know -why- you think it's 'cool' to have your name 'PwnzorzU' or 'l337daocN00b'.

Altought i am known by my rl name on this site, i always try to pick a fantasy name in an mmo. Thinking of a good name takes long, but much is in a name. People who have a good name start with more respect from me.
Yep, all of the above bug me.. Especially names that end in numbers...
I agree strongly with the original poster.
I disagree strongly with the guy who thinks that there's nothing wrong with naming your character with 1337 sp33k.
If I'm paying $15 a month for an immersive experience, I would prefer not to be yanked from my blissful state of immersion by someone with a retarded name.

They are everywhere. And they are in the games we play. I wish it was a utopian experience where all people actually THOUGHT before they named themselves, or did something in game. But, it just isn't going to happen.
No use complaining about it. I just report any name violation I see and move on, expecting nothing to be done about it. Because 99/100 nothing will be.
Though, I will not help anyone in game with stupid names, or even group with them. Hell, I don't even talk to them, even when they speak directly to me. I do not even acknowledge them. Just my way of dealing (or I guess not dealing) with them.
And if you think this is harsh, then well, I'm sorry. Unless you are one of those people who use these names, then....you are just a moron. ( I wish there was one of those little emoticons that give the finger, if there was I would put it here)

I don't like ppl with names longer than 6 letters so I mostlikely would hate all of you in game. I REFUSE to send a /tell to anyone with a name longer than 6 characters not even if they are selling the best sword on the server for 10 copper.
I also hate ppl with the word wolf or bear in their names.
I name my characters by clicking the name generator then editing it down to 4 - 5 letters. Except in SWG, I used my RL name since I was a human and it wasn't medieval.
