R.I.P. Ned Cleverson of "Maggie the Jackcat"

TorakTorak Member Posts: 4,905

Those of you who remember the good old days of "Maggie the Jackcat" will remember these two dedicated people (Maggie and Ned) who faithfully stayed with AC all these years while the rest of us went on to become dis-satisfied MMO trolls.

They were old timers when I played AC back in 2001 / 2.

I guess he passed away on Sept 4th 2008. Maggie doesn't leave much info.

He was a great MMORPG player and the community will miss him.

I'm saddened to let you know that my vassal, Ned Cleversun, passed away on Tuesday. He was the finest vassal on Dereth. A good companion and dear, dear friend. I will miss him terribly.

Thats terrible, I'm so sorry to hear that.

Maggie was great, and I still love her site.

Oh that is sad to hear

They were such a great resource for all of us.  I can't even guess at how many times I refered back to their pages to find out tid-bits of knowledge.

I miss games that required thinking.  These days everyone just follows lighted paths between NPCs with glowing punctuation marks over their heads.  Games have fallen apart, nintendo-ized to the dumbest denominator.  The people that put in such effort in to the great MMORPG games can never be thanked enough.

    Bless you Ned.

If two people best exemplified what MMORPG's are really about it was Maggie and Ned. Its not the graphics or the quest or game mechanics, its the people who enjoy gaming together whatever game it might be.

Always sad... and always a reminder there's a real human being behind the text or avatar.

We will all miss you ned. I remember using maggies site for almost everything and it was one of the best resouce sites for that game.  I will love the idea of a game that will be even close to the joy that AC brought me.... I'm praying that DFO will bring back that old feel where there is such a big world and not a linear path to follow!

Farewell ned we will miss you.

All of the people I didn't know that have passed, I think he will be remembered the most (at least in the video game industry).  He and Maggie are a legacy in AC's history.

Wow, that is incredibly depressing. I used to use Maggies site all the time back in the day. Great resource, and I always looked foward to the regular updates. Losing a close friend is always a big blow to the soul

    RIP Ned.

Life... No one gets out alive.

I also played AC back in the day,  there are just some things that are cornerstones of what we do. Maggie and crew thank you for then, and  thank you for now, in supporting the ac community I have always loved.

Ned, will be missed, and anyone whom had the privilage of rolling with him my sympathies are with you.

AC...my first and always favorite MMO...absolutely loved the character development system they had going and the world in general. I used Maggie's site a lot back in the day and she and Ned were a real boon to the world of AC. R.I.P Ned , you wonderful soul you.

A reminder once again that a good person is behind a character.

    It saddens me deeply.

I recall when a great guy from my DAoC guild died and i did not know till his online funeral was done and i missed it.I would gladly have paid a moonth's fee just to attend the funeral bcause without even ever meeting him i knew from what he said and did online he was a great guy.

Maybe this is what mmorpg is about the pure feeling of interaction .

This why when this happened and so many took the attitude of "that was great" i realised that either i come from a different era of more matured ,more personal mmorp gamers or i am too soft

Maggie and Ned entertained me for years.

It's gotten to the point where some MMOs have been reduced to little more than success dispensers. Don't think. Don't challenge yourself. Do as little as possible... but still be rewarded for it. Yeah.. *that's* fun.
