line up issue

tikboitikboi Member Posts: 243

What’s your line up? I think it’s an issue now with stronger monsters ahead. Here’s my initial line up:

===============

1st – Swordsman, Spearman, maybe another Swordsman

===============

2nd – any support characters, like my Hero. I do the healing,

===============

3rd – rangers like archers and gunners

===============

So what do you think? I’m still considering my support characters. I’m planning to have more than 2 healers for my stronghold in front. But it’s still prone to failure when the time comes that healers die, the party will die. The healers have a very low defence. What can you suggest?

    Since I'm on the "experimental stage" I hired one of each mercs (swordsman, gunner, archer and spear)

    but i think I'm going for the staff as my main character because they can heal anyone in the party so easy support for those dreadful boss battles.

    never remove support types in your line up.. always include a shaman+monk in your combo

  • tikboitikboi Member Posts: 243

    just read the site,

    there are some merc class that's not really practical, like the princess.

    i still prefer healers for my party.

    Vikings, Spearmen, Gunners and shaman/monks are all important characters. Vikings are very powerful units because they can strike a row at the same time, while spearmen and gunners can hit columns. Shamans and monks are support classes, which every unit needs.

    I also put swordsmen in the front to act primarily as tanks. However, their magic ability is not so useful, and they only have so-so damage. My main is a staff-user by the way.

    hmm..? well i was going for

    spear - axe - spear

    shaman - archer (main) - monk

    archer - prophet - archer

    archers - for silence

    Spearmen, never liked them. Their greatest strength is their range, something gunners and archers can provide. Plus, they're pretty weak when carving it up up close and personal.

    I disagree on the fact that spearmen are weak. Once you give 'em those Ashen crystals, you will feel their power. You just give have to give them strong armors. Upgrade what you have and hold back on that. Cash comes easy in the game, so dont hesitate.

    Mine is:

    1st - Swords, Spear, Viking

    2nd- Gunner,Empty,Archer

    3rd- Main,Empty,Shaman

    It works pretty well in PvP

    Vikings are useful in pvp because of their skill, freezing axe, which gives the other party a big advantage. Especially when you level them up to 50, and they start getting the multiple-hit freezing axe. I've heard that they aren't as useful in pve though, since most high level bosses are immune to freeze.

    I agree that Vikings are indispensible in PVP, and if I could get three of them I would, so that they could guard the long range and magic mercs effectively. I don't know if its possible to get three Vikings though. The main problem in that setup would be that the front line is very vulnerable to magic. And once that tank wall goes down, the rest would be easy.

    the most common setup is

    Tank-Tank-Tank

    Dmg-Dmg-Dmg

    Main-Suport-Heal

    At low lvl sword is the best tank, spear and viking also do fine. and for the dmg slots you could have anything, some good combos are triple gunners, and ive also seen some triple artillery teams, or spear makes a good dmg cuz they can backup tank if one of ur front row dies.

             Also depending what your main is can determine ur setup, alot of people will have their main on the second line if he has a good amount of hp like a sword, spear or axe.

          you also have to take into acount that the guys on the front row will get more action power per turn then on the second row and the second row will get more then your last row, so having ur dmg on the back row will cause a lack in dps because they wont be able to attack as often.

           Also a good thing to do to determine if something will be a good tank is to look at its stats. you can see a brief overview under "game info" and then "mercs" tab on the top of your screen. you will notice things like how a viking has alot of HP but only has the armor of a spear and has one of the worst magic def. So a smart player in pvp will know how to take them down fast.

        Also at lower levels don't try to make your setup in the shape of a diamond, that's a common mistake for low lvls.

       having a setup like

                 Sword

     Archer   -   -    Archer

                Shaman

      is BAD, while your sword is in front of your shaman so he's safe, you have no one in front of your archers leaving them open to attack.

    Sword-Archer  -         -

    Archer -      -      -        -

    Shaman -      -   -         -

    (Notice one of your  archers is still vulnerable to attack)

    Would do better till you can get a second Tank character, and have your setup

    Sword-Tank -           -

    Archer-Archer -         -

    Shaman -         -         -

    that way you have a good amount of HP and Def. in front of your Dmg and Heals.

      Also a good tip is to rotate characters (you can do this by pressing D during battle and selecting who you want to switch places with)

    so say you have

         Sword-Sword-Sword

         Spear-Spear-Spear

         Shaman-Monk-Main

    when one of those swords starts to get low health but your shaman doesn't have enough action power to heal him on that turn you can simply wait till it is one of the spears turns or that swords press D and swap places, buying you some time to get him healed, or just keeping him alive for as long as possible to provide maximum Dmg output.

    well thats all i feel like typing right now lol. hope this helps those of you who are just starting out..

    Oh and for anyone wondering my current setup is

     Sword-Viking-BeastTrainer

    Sword(M)-Artillery-Archer

    Shaman-Witch-Monk

      But im thinkign at lvl 100 i want

          Spartan-Spartan-Spartan

    Sword(M)-BeastTrainer-Viking

                   Witch-Monk-Witch

    At higher lvls shamans arent needed in pvp, this setup would provide awesome group dmg awesome defense and even a beefy second line if one of the spartans drops.

    one of the best formations i saw was

    front row:

    tanker               tanker                tanker

    back:

    anything from longrange AoE to support and healers..

    key is as long as your front row has high hp and exceptional def then your back characters are gonna be fine...
