Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

Ten reasons you HAVE to play EL!

1. There is no set class. This means if after a month of fighting you suddenly decide that you wish to be a magic user instead then all you have to do is start using magic!

2. Recent Graphic overhaul. There have been many updates lately that improved the textures, character animations and gave us a beautiful sky and weather effects.

3. The game is HUGE! There are VERY few games that offer such a huge playing field for completely free! Two whole continents of goodness!

4. It's actually free! None of that shop garbage that other mmo games rely on. Almost anything you buy for real life money can be found or bought in game (with the exception of a few magic items)

5. Low server Latency and high population! There is always somone playing and no matter when you log on there is rarely any lag to be found.

6. Community involvment. While the community is super friendly, that is not the only selling point. The developers constantly listen to feedback from players and fix problems at a much faster rate than even most commercial mmo games.

7. Top Players roster. If you truly apply yourself and want to excel then the community will recognize your achievments in the top players roster.

8. Endless possibilities. Skills work differently in EL. Your overall level has almost no bearing on how strong you are. If all you ever do is craft, then you will not become a strong fighter, or vice versa.

9. Engaging PVP. There is a strong pvp community, and even a seperate pvp server for the truly hardcore.

10. Continuous new adventures. Since the game is open source, it will never stop receving new content. On average there is no less than two updates a month, each time often bringing something new with it.

And most importantly JUST PLAY IT!   Contact me ig if you see me around (its hard right now since im in Iraq but you will se me eventually.) my ig name is rasberrybeard

I tried it out not to long ago, and I thought it was nice. I havnt played in a really long time so im gonna try it again. I quit RuneScape about 2 months back, because Jagex made it from a great retro MMO to something that you should buy in a store..So this looks like a brilliant game for retro MMO fans

I really recommend EL to any casual MMO gamer, it will get a little bit annoying at the start to get used to the Interface but once you learn it you will enjoy the game more then ever.

So hop in and enjoy the ride.

I checked it out some time ago, having been intrigued by the fact that it's a very grass roots project; started by a very small team (husband and wife initially if I'm not mistaken).

I appreciate what they've accomplished - and that the modeling was done with Blender3D :-p. Go go open source!

But actually playing it.. I had trouble with the starting quest. It would ask me to go to a series of inns or something like that, perform an action and then go back to the quest giver.

I did this a few times but was never able to complete the quest. Even following the instructions to the letter, it never flagged the quest as completed.

Might check it out again to see the improvements, though.

I have to say that Eternal Lands is a great game that has a lot of potential to be one of the best free MMO's out there. I know for a fact that Entropy (the head admin of the game) listens to the community for bugs and suggestions, as I see him on the Eternal Lands forums all the time, constantly responding to threads about things that are broken, things that could be changed, etc.

And here's the best part. The things the players suggest in the game are added. The things that players report as bugs or thing that need to be changed get fixed. These two things are the same things that most MMORPG's and their developers fail to accomplish.

It's a great game, and I reccomend it to anybody who liked the old RuneScape with a slightly friendlier and smaller community.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.
