To anyone who thinks OB will begin in a week,2,3,4,5 weeks time

Your wrong

This was likely posted tonight in response to the December issue of PC Gamer directing people there to sign up. It is likely that "Days Ahead" will coincide with the shelf date of the December Issue of PC Gamer. So my bet is last week of Oct or first week of Nov.

If its in december issue of PC gamer then it will be around 1st of december when you can get in, not before it.

Its 8th october now so thats approx 50 days until open beta will begin. give or take 1-10 days.

At best scenario thats 40 days being about 6 weeks time.

Therefore Open Beta will begin in 1 and a half months.... just as projected.

Hey buddy how could the open beta come out after the game does? The game comes out on the 15th according to my local ebgames and they claimed that it would not be pushed any later....

I haven't gotten PC Gamer in many years - but I used to get December's mag in mid-late October. Guess that changed?

The indicators of one or more patches prior to OB is a better indicator: but we don't know if those patch(es) are server side, client side, small, large, etc.

Best advice is to wait before guessing: let alone declaring that you have the final, incontrovertible answer.

I preordered today and he said November 16th I can come and pick up the game...

lol the preorder times at all games stores vary because they are actually estimates.

Everyone knows Blizzard only releases "when its done". Hunters dont have talents yet and they atill adding new zones :).

Still it doesnt matter to me cause A: Im european and B: Im in EU Beta :).

Hey Rhevin....I have this really nice swampland package down in Florida! DUPED!!!! image

**Just kidding..I hope your retailer is right and Nov 16 is the release date

And to the original poster - I dont get your math - how does the last week of October or the first week of November add up to 6 weeks??? Might want to rethink your logic there.

..well, Blizzard might have a guess?

6 weeks until OB seems about right, because Blizzard has stated that they'll release a couple of more patches before it starts.

I agree too much info is out how much Blizzard's parent company needs the money... they been paying them how long without any revenues now for this project?

Don't be surprised it's Nov 16th for the retail and Oct 16th to the 20th for the start of OB.

Hey not to be disrespectful sir, but let me shed a little information on you. Subscription magazines do not come out the month of the issue, they come out 1 month sometimes a month and half before the dated issue. Heres what probably happened, Blizzard/VU probably expected the issue to not hit the subscribers until around the end of October beggining of Nov. To aleviate some stress on servers I would expect they planned to have the OB started before the expected release of a wide magazine such as PC gamer, thus me leaving to the conclusion I think their intended OB dates were around the end of October with a release of Mid Nov.

Blizzard is not going to release this game the week of Thanksgiving weekend, that would be insane on their part for several reasons. They also would not wait until the following week to release if there trying to hit the X-Mas sales, as the biggest X-Mas shopping day of the year has passed already. To all the people who still are holding onto the fact that they believe will only release this game when it so called "finished" heres one last tidbit for you to take in. Everyone of the game stores and retailers changed their dates to Nov. 15th within a very short period of time ( 5 days or less) the big kicker is Wal-Mart, you do NOT ever see Wal-Mart with a wrong release date, their a retail giant, especially for X-mas shopping. If people can not see this coming from 3 miles away your either one of two things, not very business savvy or in denial about the games release. By the nature of MMO's there never complete and thats the beauty of MMO's as there alwasy revolving into something new over time. There is nothing about the game right now that is either game breaking or a "have" to be, each class could actually be released without talents and still do very well in the game. All they need is a golded stable client and all content can be added/tweaked as time goes on, expect a patch upon installing WoW.

    Is it just me??

Time has been going slow after the post of OB-sign-up-coming-soon.

I don't think the OB will be that far off; 3 weeks at the most is what i'm thinking.

I don't think Blizz would say "OB sign-ups coming soon!" then open it up in 6 weeks hah! I speculate it will be about 2-3 weeks when OB goes live. When Stress Test was announced, it went live in a week! I'm taking Blizz's word on this one when they say "soon." Otherwise, they've created a real life 'Carrot on a stick' trinket and using it on us image

I am sticking with the Nov. release. As I said before in another thread, if it happens than yay! If not, I know I can wait until it does. No sense in arguing until you turn blue in the face for something of which no one knows for certain. It is all up in the air for now until we hear something more from Blizzard.image

heh at least a month :). I mean for EU beta signups it was 1.5 months from signups to first people added. it takes a while for support to get added,

Additionally as others mentioned theres gonna be at least 2 more big patches coming BEFORE open beta. Patches dont release every week more like 2 weeks so 4 weeks it will be.

If i remember seeing it correctly, blizzards latest internal report said they want to get the game out by the end of november, BUT getting the game out, may just mean open beta and you never know, mayb you can keep your chars from open beta, though i highly doubt it and hope against it

  • angelic999angelic999 Member Posts: 2

I sure hope you can't keep your char during the switch from ob/cb to retail. That would mean a lot of people would have über-stuff while many new players would run around, not knowing what to do. Especially on PvP servers this would make a lot of problems.

About the ob coming soon, I sure hope they get it ready(/started) within the next month or so. Otherwise people might just go with EQ2, which Vivendi knows ...

magazines come out a month early

  • SarinXSarinX Member Posts: 73

Yea, well for one they didn't have VU on thier tails, and second there was alot less overhead involved in what you mentioned compared to this MMO. Theres alot of money involved in MMO's, anywhere from 10 mill up to 30 mill, they can only get so much before a publisher will say enough is enough and get this thing out the door. As much as I and many others would like to believe that Blizzard and all the other gaming companies out there are making these games purely for "us" and not financial gain, unfourntantly the later is reality.

I read on the blizzard forums that blizzard will release one or more patches before the open the gates for OB so when you see that a patch has come out. Then you can start looking out on the worldofwarcraft site

well, first of all..magazines come out a month before the cover date...so that's number 1.  Second,  just because there is an add in PC Gamer does not mean that open beta has to wait for that add right?  Surely the add could just be there for further exposure after the OB has been open for a week and they want more people to notice it?  the OB will be starting in less than 3 weeks.  As a CB tester, the game is ready for this, I bet we get a patch next week, open starts a week after that, another patch a week into OB, then release a week or 2 later
