Question about playing the NA version of the game if Im in Korea...WORRIED!

I fear that Im going to run into the same problem I had before when I tried to dl the Stress Test...being that Im stationed in Korea (and will be here for awhile), I was not able to even download the file since I am not in the US. Now to my issue, when Open Beta rolls around, am I going to have the same problem? And more importantly, am I not going to play the NA version of the game??
Is there a way that I can 'fake' being in the US to play the game? Its crunch time and Im starting to worry

How does a proxy work and how do I get it?
i'm sure there will be other places than wow's site to download from... do they really block out-of-country IP's? and can torrent do that? since it's peer-to-peer? i'm sure there is way around it, there always is (this is the internet!)
