Come back Campaign, yet?

So has there been any official talk of a "come back campaign"? You know where all the accounts of those who left and reactivated for a certain period of time. Has AoC reached a point where this would be a good idea to try to let people know that the issues they left over are better?

I started playing it again today and it's good. I was however not surprised as I tried it last Wednesday before jumping into WAR.

Im going to level with you. The game has improved in many different area's. However, there is still lack of things to do at level 80, apart from PvP Levels, Siege, Raid and finish crafting up. This should be allieviated in the next few months by additional content being added.

The lasted PvP patch will get you working on PvP levels to try out new gear and that will last a while do to exp gaps (not an overnight job) and the second part of this update is coming most likely in the next few weeks ( Murder System ) which should put a diff spin on things and worth a look imo. If your not interested in these two area's and just a PvE'r and don't like the above, then wait for some more content, it won't be long.

I personaly don't like pvp system but it does give pvp a bit more purpose than it initially had.  They do have a few issue's they need to iron out before a welcome back campaigne in my opinion. That being said I like the post Avery so won't comment on it other than that.

They could give me a free lifetime account and I would never come back. That was the worst MMO experience I have ever had and I will never try anything connected to Funcom again.

Good graphics cant cover up poor boring game play.

I guess you are saying you did not like it and thats fair. It's just like I do not like WAR and would not play that if anyone threw a lifetime account after me. In general I really doubt anyone would really play something they don't like even if it was for free. Having said that I would like to recommend AoC cause I think it is an awesome game.

In other words.  It's going to take them a long long time to get the game where it should have been at release.

Where I wager they will never get the game up to par.

They implemented ONE thing in 4 months.  A PVP system that's been in place since BETA but never turned on.  Now it's half turned on without even the penalties for killing lowbies active.  Totally amatuer system.

So they put ONE thing in the game that was suppose to be there in the beginning?  Yay?

They renamed armor from lower level dungeons call it PVP armor, give them screwed stats for their class. IE: + wisdom for barbarian.  Yay?

They left PVE content broken and anyone who doesn't PVP has got NOTHING in 4 months.  Yay?

Crafting...  You got some huge balls to even bring up crafting.  It's a broken shambles with no goals at all or reason to level up your profession.  Lower level gear is 100X better than crafted gear now after the gigantic nerfs.  Not to mention they all look like dumpster rags.

They fixed a few glaring bugs that should have been ironed out long before release.  Yay?

While they fixed some bugs they introduced even more bugs.  Yay?

They may have a new game director but they still have the same coders who can't  code their way out of a box.  Yay?

You see a future for this game but the majority of us do not.  Like thousands of others I won't ever give Funcon another dime or even glance at another one of their games.

They'd basically have to recode the entire game to get it to what most people expect from an MMORPG.

They have also fixed most of the memory leaks.    The problem is player population.  What is the point of adding a pvp system if there aren't enough players to seige. What is the point of adding end-game raids when only 1 or 2 guilds per server have enough active players to actually do them.  Even when they do fix all the endgame stuff, it will be too late because of server populations.

They need to fix the game, do server mergers THEN invite old players to come back and play for free for a month or two.  Even if they fix all the things in the game, and give out free months, players will just come back and be bored.

There are 4 low population servers that the community know of. Derketo, Damballah, Bane and Ajujo. There are many other servers very active though. To mention those we know of, Set, Cimmeria, Thog, Doomsayer,Dagoth, Deatwisper, Tyrrany, Omm, Stormrage, Wiccan are all very active servers. As long as new players stear clear of low population servers(if they are looking for high population density) there is absolutely now reason for why they would not have fun. I sure do. Last night there was like 150 lvl 80's clashing together in the provinces on my server. Fun even though I was playing with some other lowlevel guys with my lowlevel Alt.

Population beyond what they need to pay the bills isn't so much of a concern to me.

If I really like a game.. I'll find things to do and eventually find people to do things with.

The only thing I'd really need to see to "come back" is that they actually have a logical development plan.  What I saw the first month of live was the reason I canned my subscription.

It looked more like someone blind folded threw a dart at a board.. then randomly changed things whether they needed to be changed or not.. while larger problems were ignored.

I'm still not sure they are at that point... but its kind of hard to tell and I really don't want to resub to find out.. yet..

This has really hurt my view on Funcom. Server Merging has been a very popular issue and effects a good deal of the remaining player base. They have wiped out all of the Server merge threads and petitions. There were several and alot had a good many recent replies. It seems they really are getting moved ,closed and or deleted. There was one in particular extremely long with a large number of /signed from players. For the Mods to pull that kind of chit is just stupid. The current player base knows it was there, You guys know it was there, and us that frequently check there forums for updates and such know it was there. Now suddenly it's not? With the moves and replies Silirron has made I started to get a bit of faith back in Funcom and AoC. With Famine's merge/hide move of the many server merge request threads that has all been erased now. Good move Famine. Funcom may not want to do server merge's or transfers but the community has spoken and said it is more than needed at this point and for you to sweep it under the rug is bull.

The Medium Load cr@p, the removal and hiding of server merge request threads and signed petition threads is about as @ssinine as you can get. I was holding out some hope but nothings changed so F it and AoC.

Some may say I overreacted to this but I don't agree, If they do something that shady in plain sight there's no telling what there still doing or going to do that we can't see so that is it.

Good bye AoC at MMORPG.com it wasn't much hope but I did hold out some hope for the game. Now I don't. Maybe a year or so down the road I'll look you up but I doubt it. Famine, you are about the worste  Mod I have ever seen in any forums man. Sorry but it's true and ive been cruising MMO forums for about 10 or so years. While some moderation can be looked at with a bit of suspicion the stuff you guys pull on AoC forums is an out right slap in the communities face. So take care good luck and I hope your familiar with the phrase "You reap what you sew" because all this is eventualy going to come back and bite you guys in the arse in some way. Agree to all your comments. With regards, to that turning point we just have to keep eyes open to see. I do not many people want to argue that the new GD had a good start with the patch the 17th of Sep. Now we just need to see if he follows up as pr the plan.

Deathwhisper isn't nearly as populated as some like to say, though I have noticed an increase in players around my level 35-45 over the last few days.I still would recommend Tyranny over it. Even considering I play on DW.

Sorry Greyghost I do not agree. First of all, I was banned yesterday in MMORPG and have gotten a ton of warnings for my constant fights over here, in the short time I have been a member. This have happened even though I really try to mind my language and attitude... This never happens in AoC though (at least not in US forums), you can pretty much do anything you like... And people do, which give an unwanted situation for the users of the AoC forums (lets not forget these are paying customers). Let me illustrate, a guy on Damballah or was it Ajujo was naturally bummed that he was on a low population server now that the PvP stuff is out. It's fun to run after other guys and try and kick their but now.... Well, he posted once then twice and then FCKing (I don't know exactly the number) but like 5 identical posts on the topic in one day... Almost the whole first page of the general forum was filled with that one guys agenda. I understand him, but FCK that's very dysfunctional. Famine merged the posts in to one of them, which I think was the right thing to do if you want to try and run a forum. I on the other hand have had posts deleted in AoC but only when I post bad stuff about WAR (sorry woun't do it again).

Maybe that's because your posts on the AoC forums are laughable, no offense. In this one, even the AoC fan crowd ripped you to shreds.

Plus, you're one of those guys who goes around reporting people, I wonder how many people you have reported here at mmorpg.com. Actually you'll probably report this post, but oh well.

I have gotten one of these speculations before and yet again you are wrong. By the way the post you link to is not about WAR, it is about Service pack 1 effects on Vista performance. Noone is reporting anything, but be damn sure I report when a Troll fill up the entire AoC general discussion in MMORPG with posts like... "Uhhhh, guess what... FUNCOM Sux...Death to all AoCplayers" . That's just right out disturbing.

I imagine that such a campaign would be as effective as Earth and Beyond's emergency retention and reacquisition attempts were.

If I were Funcom I would try to mobilize the remaining subscriber base to spread the word. I'm sure that all three or four hundred of them could net ten, maybe even thirty new players.

I second that, Sacdeep. I reactivated the sub just because I can read and post on test-live dimension forums. And I will spread the word to make sure I do my best to not disappoint people with my own word of mouth. And the word coming out is 'Age of Conan is not even a game'. It is a $50 attempt to make more $. A success, yes; there is no game to play, yes.

You can keep LOLOLOL OMGING all you want after your X-fire incident, OnionMan. Basically anyone who reads these forums will know that your credibility is less than a zero.

It's good that you can at least have some fun here though, looking at your post count, a man who spends that much time F5:ing a forum can't be having much fun in Age of Failure.

Agreed.  If the reason why you left was lack of level 55+ content, then stay off for another month or so.  In order for FC to implement a "comeback" scheme, they've got to prove that there is enough changes to warranty coming back.

Time will tell if the new GD has had any impact or not.  As they say "the more things change, the more they stay the same".  And please don't anyone quoting threads to prove communication.  Constantly regurgitating "We'll release it when its ready" or "We are aware of the issues and are looking into them" is not exactly moving things forward in the communication stakes.   Action speaks louder than words.

On a more positive note, they DID sort a lot of the memory leaks on the last patch (which also brought PVP in).   And there were a looong list of bug fixes.  Shame they borked pet zoning, but hey, what can you do.

Still, if you're a little jaded about AOC, check out Darkfalls video to REALLY emphasise that AOC is a lot better than others:  http://videos.neoseeker.com/gameplay/742-darkfall-gameplay-video/

Its an absolute hoot to watch just how bad animation can be in a yet-to-be-released MMO.  Yes, I know that great graphics don't necessarily make a great MMO.  But come on!  There should at least be SOME respectable standard that devs should be working too.

I don't think anyone missed the importance of having your system up to date with the current service packs. What they are pointing out are what may be described as rather over the top statements such as:

"FUNCOM I am now officially ready to take down anything you send my way. Bring it on... FUNCOM you rock!!!

Last few things, FC are you working with the Microboys? It sure seems like. This 3 stage monster Service Pack I got my hands on really was made for AoC"

Service pack improvements are driven from the software provider (in this case Microsoft); to address items such as making their OS perform smoother, more reliably, more securely, etc.  However, you took that and somehow gave those kudos to Funcom.

That's what I think Slythe and others generally mean when they say items like this certainly don't help convince poster'slike this OP on the merit of your arguments; as well as why you may have had a frosty reception on these forums in response to the tone and language of your posts.

To the OP; there are positive updates with AoC of the late; (look at Avery's more recent posts for specifics); and also take a look at Avery and other's feedback on what still needs work and I think you have a personal timeline that may work for you as to when you'd like to return.

I'd wager that the most compelling  "Comeback Campaign" will not be in a formal campaign; but one that addresses the core issues people addressed in the exit survey, ongoing communication and making good on any commitments they've outlined for the current and prospective playerbase.  It's a tough road to travel at this juncture,  but they may be able to pull it off. Hopefully they do, and people have another MMO choice to spend their free time on.

Any talk of a come back "free time" for canceled subscribers yet? Im getting ready to uninstall AoC to make room for something else and Id really like to know if something like this is coming soon. Id hate to uninstall then they announce it the next day and have to repatch all this stuff.

well I just went out and dropped enough for dinner withe the wife,  daughter and future son in law to almost pay for a years sub so I am patching up right now just for a look see. Curious to see what the pop really looks like and how much improvement there really is. Plus I have a hopped up 260GTX instead of my old 8800 and I am curious to see how far I can push the graphics.

Even if I only play 15 minutes I figure it is worth a look to see how blatently the fanbois are pumping things up and  I always have my LoTRO lifetime sub to fall back so I won't feel too bad even if I waste 15 bucks.

    I miss DAoC
