WAR.... nothing but trouble so far.......

Right ok for those who have read my other posts you will know from day one I have been having problems with WAR ok to start it was my own fault for not having enough RAM... but it goes further........

I bought new RAM which the motherboard didnt like causing my motherboard to refuse to work until a certain batter was removed and left out overnight....

So got 2GB instead of the 4GB I wanted, fine... played the game for several hours yesterday no problem, got up to rank 6, starting to enjoy the game but was getting late so went to bed...

But when I tried to play this morning, I logged in and just about started to play when all of a sudden the main menu music plays and the game locks up and goes to 'not responding' and unable to close, so have to restart the computer.....

So to try and solve this I thought I would uninstall and re-install see if it would solve the problem, guess what? more problems, it does the first disk fine, message pops up please insert disk 2 which I do, click retry and............ nothing...

So yet again I find myself unable to play this game for whatever reason, could someone please help get it working? I am no computer whiz (someone even said 'if you dont know what a certain something is then you dont deserve to play' I say 'middle figure up at you'....

I just want to play the god damn game!!!!

shhh... you might wake the trolls

when i orginally installed with the disk, it also was failing on the disk 2 part, it just kept rejecting the cd out of the tray over and over, but about 4th time it worked, didn't do anything different other than reseat the cd in the dvd drive.

I also get the occasional lock up and have to do a hard restart on the computer but this has only happened during the main menu not while i was ingame.  It's only crashed once while playing but that was a server hiccup not my issue as it happened to everyone.

Have you added any other parts to your computer lately? How old is your computer ? What type of motherboard/ graphics card and processor do you have?

I had a problem myself after replacing my ram a long time ago and it turned out I damaged the motherboard while installing the ram. Since I work on avionics all the time I should have been more careful and was even stupid enough to change the RAM while sitting on the carpet lol. After asumming I got a few bad sticks of RAM I tried them in another computer I had and presto they worked. So I reinstalled them back into my old comp and they worked also but I started getting weird errors and random crashes at different times.

Anyway to make a long story short ESD if you know what that is fried my motherboard in a way that made my comp seem like other stuff was broken. I am not in anyway saying that WAR itself isnt causing you problems but if you can provide some more info about your PC maybe I can help you further as it sounds more like a possible hardware problem from what you have described so far.

EDIT- Also try  a program called driver agent from  www.driveragent.com it will check your drivers as well to make sure those are up to date. Drivers can also cause lots of weird problems and it's the easiest thing to check and fix.

make a folder and copy both cd's into that folder, call it what ever i called mine warhammer and put it in /c drive

once there open the set up folder and in there go to war folder, open that and install the game from there

it will install the same way and to the same place but you wont need to run it from the discs

    hope this helps

The saying is actually  "Oh for Pete's Sake".

Its in reference to Peter in the Bible.  Also, "For the love of Pete".  Its a ephemism for God when saying the word God was considered blasphemy.
