Allow me a moment to tell you a little about my personal Atlantica Online experience. I was lucky enough to be involved with the Closed Beta Round 1, and am currently enjoying the Closed Beta Round 2. Now let me start by saying that I am normally a 'silent beta tester'. Even though I have played MANY Beta's, I rarely find that my input is required as most of the other players involved have already raised any concerns that I may have had and after all the game developers can always pull the data to review, if needed. In addition, I have never written a review for a game either. This game has changed that, for me at least. I highly suggest a test-drive for this game.
I was instantly drawn to the game's design and ambiance. It is very pretty visually, and quite enjoyable to play. Like many of the other MMORPG's out there, this one has an elegantly simplistic interface, point and click action and, in addition, re-introducing one of my favorite aspects of console RPG's... my own team to control and advance, not just my main character. This is accomplished by hiring your choice of Mercenaries (the first 3 are given as part of the introduction sequences, and later you hire/earn them thru various means). On the main screen it is just your main character (choose between Sword, Axe, Bow, Cannon, Gun and Spear, all with thier own unique attributes and skills) running around and interacting with the world. However, once you engage in a battle (either PvP or Quest/Random Encounters) the rest of your team appears (remember the FF games we all loved!). They are set up on a 3x3 grid (you control the formation) and your opponents are on a similar grid across from you and battle ensues in a turn-based manner. The game also has many skills you can learn and eventually teach if you so desire by Mentoring lower level characters, or for in game gold (ie.. cooking... medicine... making armor/weapons). You can combine armor and weapons to advance and enhance them (more damage/defense always good!), not to mention the extensive online community (most of which are very polite and helpful). With the in game guild system, you will never be alone and bored...unless that's what you want.
I won't delve too deeply into the Stamina System that was introduced in the Closed Beta Round 2, other than to say that upon it's initial introduction I, like many players, was a little concerned how this would affect the gameplay. I found that it didn't really impact me that much. During the week, I have about 5 to 6 hours a day that I game and I do not run out of Stamina in that time. On the weekends....well, I have two characters (you can have up to 3 on an account) that I alternate between. Not a problem for me. Part of my time is involved in other aspects of the game (ie... combining and also playing around in the in-game market). See the official website and look over the documentaion on this under thier Announcements area, it explains how it works.
All in all, I would highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a fun and extensive gaming experience. It is a free game, so there is no harm in trying. Go to atlantica.ndoorsgames.com and sign up today! While you are downloading the client, take some time to look over the information on the website. Atlantica Online The ONE and only MMO that contains features for everyone
I have finally found it after years of searching it has finally been created. the ONE and only game for every type of MMO player that exsist in the world today. From your basic turn-based combat lover, to your hardcore PVP'er Atlantica Online has something for everyone. The unique guild system with town control allows you to construct and manage towns through your guild and its point system this aspect relates to the (worldbuilder) mmo type player, then there is the tournament mode for your (PVP) mmo'er challenge others and kep you rank in sanctioned tournaments, or simply duel ewherever you wish for fun. You also have the GREATEST crafting system that exsists in MMO's today for your hardcore (crafting) mmo'er, gather your materials and raise your crafting skills. for those (storyline) and questing MMo'rs Atlantica Online has one of the greatest storiylines anywhere today and trust me after playing mmo's for 15 years since way back in text base i can be a good judge of this. and the combat system HELLO my favorite old school Final Fantasy style TBC (turn based combat)...who doesnt love that. In mypersonal opinion Atlantica Online will be one of the Greatest MMo's af all time and will remain that way for years to come. NDoors has finally done it thay have made a MMO for every type of player that exsists and each system caters to that type of player beautifuly. i could go on and on about the features of Atlantica Online i could fill multiple pages with text, but the best way for you to expirience the greatest game ever created is to play it just go to www.playatlantica.com and start playing as soon as humanly possible, give it less than 1 hour and you'll be addicted and this will be the true end to your search for the perfect MMO

There's an unbiased review for you. Personally I think the Stamina system will help the game rather the make it worse... too bad so many greedy gamers can't see it.

Not an employee... just someone who appreciates a good game. I never said it wasn't without it's flaws... but at the same time, I'm am extremely tired of the mass complaining about the Stamina System....it's a free game for frak sake... a good one. Don't get me wrong, I love a good grindfest... and yes this stops, if not at least slows down the grind. But as I said in above.... I just got done playing for 6 1/2 hours and had 70+ Stamina left. PvP is the answer. Join the League, win a few battles. Also sit and play the market.
My personal opinion on the Stamina system is that they are trying to kill the professional farmers. You know, those International companies that sell in-game gold for real cash (20,000,000.00 for $19.95). Those service kill the ingame economy... just look at the prices in Rappelz.... and sure, maybe to drive thier own Cash Mall, but it is thier game..... at least they are releasing it.
and one last thing... let's not forget they are in the Closed Beta Testing Phase... it's not even officially releasd yet. Whose to say what kind of changes (good or bad... depending on your POV) will happen between CLosed Beta, Open Beta and then final release.
The game is not bad. To me, it definitely seems more casual-friendly than most of the free MMOs that I've played. While the whole mercenary/team/whatever-you-call-it battle system seems cool at first, it plays like a Final Fantasy game with down syndrome. I can't quite put my finger on it, but the game as a whole seems very amateur, even though it still has some entertaining features.
Probably the biggest downfall in my opinion, is that because of the fact that you can control like 9 different characters, I feel it takes away from the development and persona that we can take in having just one character. It sort of takes the role-play out of RPGs.
yeah, you can call this an attepmt at damage control via staged fanbois. This game had a lot of hype behind it after cb1 but since then its kinda tanked, just about every review site has changed its views on the game.
Either you like it or you dont, one this is for sure...THIS GAME IS NOT FREE TO PLAY
its a free demo with limited play, with the soon to be opend cash shop options to remove the limit.
Once you get over the "wow turned based battles rocks" feeling, the games kinda very boring and repatative. Ill admit after cb1 i was impressed, but after a few weeks it started to bore me, then we wont even mention the stamina system, that limits how many mobs you can fight in 24hours (new and improved with barely worth it regen on stamina and pointless rollover of low amounts), the stamina system is the newest in cash shop ploys from korea that actually drove away many of the hardcore "big cash shop spenders"
The system also wrecked the community...anyone who even slightly groans in game about the stamina is barraged with "gtfo" and "stfu log off and get a life if you run out" comments, a far cry from the wonderfuly nice cb1 community.
JUst remember, this isnt like most f2p games where your missing out on xp scrolls and slight enhancements if you play for free...your literally limited in the amount of fights you can get into.
Anyone who says the stamina system will improve the game, or likes it, falls into two categories:
1. Nieve players who cant see its to get players into the cash shop by limiting gameplay.
2. Casual players who hate, strong word but its what ive seen, hates anyone who wants to grind, doesnt want to pvp, doesnt want to dick around crafting all day. People who like that the system penalizes other players but has no effect on how they play.
ok...mabey a thrid category...on this site at least...NDOORS employee, i already caught one on another thread here, posting about the stamina system with his real life location from south korea (they got their own version with no system) so believe it when you feel like a "i love it!" post is nothing than an employee on damage control.
Save yourself fustration go play perfict world, youll thank me when you dont have to level at 51+ on 50-100 battles a day. (cap is 120 i believe) tell me that the system is here to improve the game not cripple it to get people in the cash shop..and ill tell you your blind
I have played the CB 2 of Atlantica Online.
Here is a good way to write a guide….. for the complains about “The Stamina System”.
The game itself has a lot of quests to teach you the intricate details of the Atlantic game. But to be a better player there are a few things you should keep in mind.
Here I make a list of all the things you really need to keep in mind.
Firstly when fighting a monster, it is always the best to have the full information shared from another player who has a full information on that monster. This full information will give you better drops so as to say you will see Ashen Crystals (2+1). This +1 is because you are fighting the mob with full information. To get full information ask any high level guild mate or anyone who has a full information to share information from the actions window in the Personal Message box.
Going by this technique if people are still saying that stamina system is going to make this game go to exit, well, they are really not playing with intelligence.
Secondly , you should use everything that you get and hence crafting is a must for all and to do this more effectively , the crafting levels are really deep and most low armors and weapons if crafted beyond the general levels can prove worthy at the higher levels.
A suggestion if you are not crafting and if you are lazy and not utilizing all the tools the interface gives , well the game may look like another terrible economy or another Mmorpg where you were not able to make your mark.
The awesome thing about this game which allures me most is the scrolls. If I use the correct scroll in the free league which I did, then I can even beat a player 30+ levels beyond me. So for me scrolls rock. But Oh well , the best part , what will I do at level 25 if my opponent at level 65 uses scrolls on me. This is a question that’s yet not answered but I think will be dealt with in the CB3.
How to play this game?
Just quest and test your character in the free league and soon you will see your monster killing quests are becoming easier and faster and your character is getting stronger. What is really needed to be done is go on perfecting the armor and the weapons and the skills and make the character and the mercenaries powerful so that you can win against free league opponents 20 levels beyond you.
When you are dealing with buying things from market or may be selling or even using the bank service, you should first check the town’s tax, if the tax is beyond 2% then try and find another town, where the tax is around 1%. If your guild owns the town then may be the need for doing this is not necessary.
Party gaming gives more XP whereas in the same time, if you just hang on with solo grinding and questing you can almost kill the bosses and if you cannot, you can always try and make your character and your mercenaries better. The character building part and the twinking part is almost very deep and like better online games , the more you play and craft the better your stuff are……..
Personally I feel that this is a great game if not spoiled by item mall, What I mean is item mall should be there for the “lazy” and the hardcore gamers should be able to find all the stuff without using it. This way the player base and the casual gamers all combine to make a vibrant player community.
I read a few posts stating that 800 Ashen Crystal hunt is really terrible with 50 stamina at level 50+. Well to answer that the free league 5 straight wins gives you a lilith box and opening it , you may get 30 ashen crystals just like that. Also you get 20,000 at division 18 and for every higher division you get 10,000 more gold with 20,000 = 30,000 (at 17)….40,000 (at 16) and so on…. Thus if you can make a better character and your gameplay strategy is superior, stamina system cannot effect you. I almost always had 100+ stamina from level 35+ to level 44 by winning and adding stamina and also making money in the free league. So I didn’t had a stamina trouble in getting levels and I use to play all day and night long and participate in all the leagues that comes along. So buying Ashen crystals with money and the Lilith boxes win and the stamina part is really awesome combination that separates the boys from the men.
Here comes the technical portion of the game.
To be honest, the game lags and the game lags and during the turn based fights be it monster or be it an opponent. Now because you get 30 seconds if you lag then your times up and you will not be able to use all the turns and hence you may die or your opponent will win. This is a complex system, if never fixed will eventually be a cause for the demise of this game. Either there should be turns or there should be time. If not and if someone lags then the gameplay is really annoying both in free league and in player versus monster gameplay.
Above everything, how often do we see new style of gaming coming into the market. Almost never!!!
This game if you see is a mixture of many great games. The character formation and skills and so on the grouping of mercenaries and hiring and firing of mercenaries are from Diablo and we all know , how great the game was at it’s time. The graphics is as good as any recent Mmo and you do everything with a single character and thus less lag for populated places like towns and likewise. The greatest depth are given into crafting and thus if you craft well, you can well make all the money in this game. I personally saw a crafter at my level making more money from market than me from grinding on mobs at that level. So it is not just click and then kill monsters and level up and be happy. It is about choices and skills and this game won’t make you to the top player list in free league unless and until you are fully into it.
So lastly I will give this game a 9/ 10 for sure.
Fix the lag and get us playing the lure of Atlantic Online is too addictive to be away from.
Cheers

" Don't listen to anyone who tells you that you can't play this or that. That's nonsense. Make up your mind, and you'll never whine or repent about gaming hours anymore, then have a go at every Game. Open up the Internet, join in all the Mmorpgs you can. Go make the Guild. But never, never let them persuade you that things are too difficult or impossible. "
Once An Addict Always An Addict .
I have been playing mmorpg's for 7 years now and have participated in a lot of betas. I'm pretty surprised to hear Atlantica called 'perfect'.
I just finished playing 20 hours of beta. I reached 19th level before I gave up. The game has some nice ideas. I used to love turn based games. Having multiple characters, like Baldur's Gate, is a nice idea.
However, none of it fits together. The interface has some WoW elements, but makes little sense. The characters have a cool anime look, so long as you don't peer at the polygon seems down their centerlines. The environment is incredibly simplistic. It reminds me of Laura Croft, circa 1996.
Fighting should be fun, but it isn't. The timer ruins any sense of strategy you would get from turn-based play. Its more a frantic mashing of buttons before the time runs out. The turn-based play ruins any sense of a console game that the combat animation seems to be trying to emulate.
It is nothing short of bizaar to run by dozens of creatures who are wandering around aimlessly without having them attack you. Even more so, seeing a fox with a unicorn horn and an anime archer standing senselessly next to each other for 5 minutes with a little fight X over their heads. This is a mmorpg?
Finally, for me the wierdest thing of all was all these advertisements that kept flashing on while I was trying to play the game. "Free scrolls at 8 and 11am!!" "Bonus Play Time!! Next hour!" I half expected to win a free beer in the process. Clearly the marketing department has a major influence on game design. That will not make for fun play.
Atlantica has your basic role-playing game appeal: kill monsters, gain levels, get better gear. If thats all you need to have fun, you will enjoy it. If you have ever played WoW, DAOC, or EverCrack, you will be disapointed.
Okie here we go ………………
First of all, Atlantica is not a role playing game. What the game is about is hardcore PvP and free league. Now we all know, in recent times a game which tried to make that kind of an attempt and failed is Fury. But in Atlantica you have the choice of getting good gear and great quests and also some never ending gameplay. Just look at the number of dungeons the game has and in shadow dungeons you need a team to be inside.
If you are suggesting role playing game, where you are going to be a part of the team and the team together chats and completes missions, then the old daddy Anarchy Online was the best in that category.
But we have moved on from the endless, “Will you join?” chat spam and finding the perfect healer who will make us Gods and we will do missions or endless hours in dungeons finding everything for everybody. Nowadays, you are with games where you log in and are able to do, what you like.
What do Gamers nowadays really like?
1. Some like to kill and endless killing makes them fall of sleep.
2. Some like to craft and endless crafting makes them happy.
3. There are a few who like endless PvP.
4. There are plenty who like to do quests.
5. There are bunches who like to do team gaming.
Now Atlantica caters to all this category barring the hardcore role playing games of yesterday, where finding a party is like wasting the 1 hour of your daily 2 hours of gameplay. (I am suggesting casual gamers here) I am with the same opinion that the game lacks in here but with the ongoing trend this game will attract major population.
The Item shop will benefit with licenses like teleport to the depths of the dungeons and health check (really essential for PvP) and also Auto-Move which is a must have. Thus if you consider these aspects then this game is made for recent times. I myself like item mall games as you do not have to pay for the months you spend in holiday and you often pay what you need rather than pay and buy time which often gets wasted if the games population is dwindling to a bare minimum.
Now Atlantica Online is a F2P game and if you consider that sector of F2P where item mall rules the game then you can well see Atlantica Online is not a game where the game balance is affected by Item shop items. (As of yet from the list of items that are going to be sold in the item mall, I have seen so far)
Button Smashing, well the auto battle takes away the button smashing and with the auto battle license you just right-click and left-click and occasional some alphabet keys to select the skills you want to use.
You should have played at-least to level 40+ from where the game really separates the boys from men and you would have got its flavor. This is all I have to say.
Cheers
