Eq has so much content that keeps you hooked forever. I am in the EQ2 beta and i still play EQ1 just as i did when it started. You obviously havent been around mmorpg's long if you ignore the fact that The Realm (the first 3-d mmorpg) and UO are the first 2 major mmorpg contributors to the genre. Calling The Realm a 3d game is equivalent to calling Legends of Kyrandia a 3d game... in both cases it's not. The first 3d MMORPG is Meridien59, but again, being the first, and even doing it the best doesn't mean you're the most successful or sweeping. That's where EQ comes in, for a while it had noteably more content, players and recieved more awareness than other MMOGs.

The only game I left while i still liked it, I still like it and I have always considered it the best one. I really should return and I do not know why I do not. Maybe I want at least one game that I consider good, if I return that may change so. Kinda like the first love is always the one you remember but that does not neccessarily mean you drop everything should she show up.

Well, as for MMORPG's, Ive tried EVE, AC2, Lineage 2. I'm new to all this. But I still dream about Lineage 2. If EQ2 sucks, I'm going back to Lineage 2.

The freedom of its skill based system allowed for using real strategy in character development (but sorry, game designers now feel that their customers are too stupid to permit this option anymore), the random loot generator provided suspense and excitement to break up the monotony of the grind (erhm, sorry again, crafters must now be allowed to dominate economies; be happy gathering gathering your worthless generic crap to keep the clickfest crowd happy), and the quest system, if not great, was large and varied in style. The best I've seen to date.
Huge world with no zoning to disrupt immersion. PVP. Nice ideas on guild support (Patron/Vassal relationship). Solo friendly (but sometimes requiring grouping for the largest of quests), and with combat that included a few nods to the FPS style while offering a choice between the somewhat simplistic (warriors) through the very complex (mage and magic using melees/archers).

Well for everyone saying EQ, OMG, the graphics suck and just not too interesting, I say the most fun I've played is Lineage II, awesome graphics and very fun, there is also Ragnarok which is pretty awesome... For you people who care nothing for graphics, try Tibia, 4MB and pretty fun, I didn't get bored for about 2 yr playing it... There is umm, Gunbound, great fun... I didn't post addy's so search up the game...
If anyone knows of a good free game, let me know, something fun and very populated, etc... I'd appreciate, games with private servers if I must pay, cannot pay anything right now
I hate how everyone seems to ignore UO, and says Everquest started it all. Everquest copied UO SO MUCH. Oh well.. UO sucks now but I had so much fun playing it back in the days, I Know no game will EVER be that fun, it's impossible. PvPin was so great, fast paced combat. Vast Ort Flam (precast) Hally hit, target the explo, Corp Por (last target) HAlly, hit, BANG, You could kill just about ANYONE like that, combat during about 5seconds, NOW that was ownage.

Lineage,Ragnarok, and nexus are among my top best, If you have ever played Ragnarok, You'll know it is a bit like WoW, As for Nexus, Its just an Addiciting game. Sure the graphics suck, but for 2D I think its pretty good, Ive played nexus the longest, and i still say the GM's dont give a crap about anything that happens in this game, Sure if there is a bug or something they will fix it, And it makes it look like they care but they dont give a ****. Right now the Econmy is so screwed, Cause there was a money bug, But I'de have to say those three are the best. (On my list Atleast)

Yeah... absolutly... that's why I hate EQ. The MMORPG market is such a mess because of it. All they want is your money! OSI did the same mistake when they screwed UO up.
Anyone who has played UO pre-rep patch knows the game was better than any 3d MMORPG on the market right now... so much interactivity with the world.
