For me it will be less hardcore, because being a casual player wont give me a huge disadvantage like in wow, where i can never keep up, because i dont have time to grind battleground 3 month 10 hours per day, every time a new season comes out.

That is a good point about skill based games. WI go to college, and when I tried wow a few years ago it was becauseI had a friend whow ould not shut up about how awesome it was, so i tried it when I logged on I found out I had to gain 60 levels before being able to play with my friend... I didnt make it, at level 45 I got tired of soloing and quit.. i didnt enjoy the game at all...

But in a game liek darkfall, I could have been playing for 3 years, but a friend i convince will be able to hang out with me from day one.. we can experience a world together.. being a newbie is alot less restrictive... but that dosent mean having the skills wont mean something, its the beautiy of a skill based game..

when you add in the fact that the ability to be better than other people in reality, instead of hours invested is how success is manifested and you have a truely great game.. like Ultima Online was

So you don't think skill decay will put casual  and PvE players at a disadvantage to PvP players who constantly hone their skills both real and character while hunting them?

Skill decay will do no such thing, this is a misconception aparently.. skill decay is on skills you dont use and this is because there is no hardcap on skills, you can train as many as you want.. granted it gets hard each skill after a certain point you use.. but you can logoff for a year and you wont loose skill.. but when you play, if you used to be a warrior and changed to a mage and are never using swordsmanship it will slowly decline...

I also want to make a point on murderers.. it will be a tough life.. trust me.. not only because of game mechanics but many guilds, and me included will often go murderer hunting.. ill be collecting theirt head actually...

So there are actually classes that determine which skills decay and which don't?

No this may be a better example. Lets say you like swords and you take it to a skill level of 80. If you decide you like clubs better and your steadily use clubs but don't use swords anymore your sword skill will begin to slowly decay after awhile.

Ok... I see, so it's the use of one skill that makes the other in the same category to decay, but not the inactitivy. Thanks :)

It's the inactivity lol. The reason I said it that way is because there are no classes in the game. If you don't use a skill for long periods of time while you are logged in it will begin to slowly decay.

So if you run around just exploring or something else that doesn't require use of a skill for an extended amount of time would all of your skills decay some?

yes, but its not gonna happen in a short period of time.. most likely if you are exploring you will be using all your favorite skills.. but that swords you picked up when you were a noob and dont use anymore will slowly decline.. it actually will help you because when that skill that you dont use goes down it will help other skills you do use go up faster

the point of it is so that some guy who plays 24/7 cant have grandmastery at every skill at the game..

Being a part of the Darkfall community is like being "The Comedian" from the graphic novel "Watchmen."

If you've read that novel, and have spent some time (1 or more years) in the DF community, you'll probably get that reference.

If you haven't spent time in the community, then you'll think the DF playerbase are a bunch of morons.

    Not so and such.
