So how long until....

I recall when things would go bad for Smedley in both SWG and Vanguard he would always do interviews later blaming players for his projects failures(I recall some interview where he got down on us nerds for being too demanding or some such drivel.) I'm wondering now how long before Gaute (who seems to have an outsized ego like Smedleys) comes out and blames the community and what excuse he'll make.

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

All I know is that Im enjoying every minute of it. Every time I see that stock price go down, all I can think of is that Johnny Cash song.

Oh dear. Are you aware of that Gaute was replaced by Craig Morrison as GD. Perhaps you would not have made us all the favour to post you usefull post if you were a bit more up to date..

Gaute  joined Brad McQuaid on a cruise down some river in Egypt  called  Denial.

Lets hope Gaute has some money in Wachovia. Funcom does have an office near them in the Carolinas.

You know, the dude from Warhammer said something about this.  Not that I think Warhammer is good, but he said basically the first thing a developer needs to do is lose his ego.

When Tigole went to WOW, people were rightly worried that the game would be raid2play.. and they were right.   Vanilla WOW turned out to be exaclty that..  But the devs put their ego's in check and realized that the vast majority of players weren't enjoying endgame.. so in Burning Crusuade, they spent a lot more dev time creating non-raid things for players to do (heroics, dailies etc). They also lowered the raid number from 40 down to 25 which was supposed to make raiding a little more accessible.

They have further learned their lesson in Wraith.   Even with raids being 25man in TBC, there was still a lot of content that will never been seen my the majoirty of players.  So in WotLK, the devs have created a 10/25 man model, which means ALL content will be seen by 10 man raid guilds.

I wonder how hard it was on Tigole's ego when WOW had 4M susbscribers to say " but a lot of players aren't happy with raid2play, I'm going to have to do what the players want, not what I want".

Gaute? He is history already. Last I heard he quited the branch.

Somehow I think the OP means when Gaute Godager gives an interview in the future, blaming players for why AoC tanked and why he consequently had to leave Funcom (I seriously believe the other brass told him to leave).

RIP Blackguard. May a resurrection come.

Eventually, he'll have to come out of obscurity and give an interview. He'll be asked about why AoC failed, and give some BS about how beta testers, players, forums, or WoW plants are why the game was unfinished, broken, and he got asked to leave.

    Man, why so serious?

Wait... I mean, why so negative? Doesn't anyone here have any sense of hope for the future? I would still like to think there is SOME chance that Gaute will find some shred of honor and decency left in his soul and admit that Funcom boned up the game because of their own mistakes and not that of the players or WoW or WAR or whatever other group he might try to blame it on.

As for when this will happen, who knows? Hopefully the guy will have the sense to get out of the gaming industry an not come back. If thats the case he won't have to give any interviews. And hopefully he will be smarter than all the other developers who keep blogs or personal websites just for the purpose of bragging about their accomplishments and/or blaming their failures on their customers. It could simply be that we will never hear from him again. He should just fade away into the night and not return.

It's simple. He has never shown any loyalty to truth, went out of his way to lie, belittled supierior games, and had to resign in disgrace.

I've never seen any evidence of this person you describe.

    Based on what?

Based on... nothing I guess? I never said he was a decent guy. But maybe there is still some tiny chance that he will learn his lesson and make a death bed confession that AoC does in fact suck just as much as everyone says it does. Anything is possible right?

    Nope.

GWB will admit he started an illegal war before G admits he is a failer. Such is public relations.
