Returning after a few years and have some questions

RageMonsterRageMonster Member UncommonPosts: 120

Ok I played at launch for the first year and had a few toons of high level at that time.  Now I am looking at the game again and signed up for the 14 day trial.  As it was only for new accounts I had to start a new station account in order to do the trial.  Things have changed quite a bit since I last played and I am thinking about starting up a sub when this trial is over.

My question is will I still have my old toons from when I first started.  I don't know if they keep them or if I will have to start over.  The server I use to play on (Unrest) is not even on the list anymore.  I have no way of getting into the account without resubbing so I am a little lost on this.

If I have to start over then I will just stay with my new account since I already have a level 11 beserker that I am really enjoying.  I am on the PVP server as I played on one in WOW and liked it better that the PVE servers.  Is it open PVP or just in contested zones?  Can you PVP other players from your side or just the oposing side?

I remember that I use to be able to sell from my house but had to stay online to sell.  Have they changed this (do they have an auction house?).  As I am doing the trial I don't have an instruction manual.  I have the original manual taht came with my collector's edition from years ago but it seems there have been so many changes that it is worthless for most questions.  Can anyone recommend a good site for builds and such and quest help (like thottbot).

I will try and answer your questions.

The Unrest server is still there, although it is only a pve server. so yes chances are good that your old toons would still be there.

Since you stated that you want to play on the pvp server then you would probably need to start a new toon on that server. Since I don't think your allowed to transfer an alt between pve to pvp.

As for pvp, as soon as you reach level 10 you can participate in pvp. You can only battle players of the opposing allignment. and all zones are pvp even in the city if you flag for that part of it. Once you leave the city you are safe for a few seconds that no one can attack you (which I think is 10 sec). And although you it is not full looting, you will get some loot from them, which will come in a dropped chest.

As for how you sell items. No, you don't need to remain logged on now to sell. Just buy a couple of boxes, or sales crates. and place them in your merchant board in your house. If it is a sales crate, once you place it in your merchant board right click on it and select place. then you can place it in your house so players can come buy from you without paying the broker fee.

You might want to check out eq2,wiki.com for any help with quests items etc. It is a great site. also get the map updater from eq2interface.com it comes very handy to have.

I hope you enjoy your stay. and have fun

I was thinking of getting back in to it my self since I have been disappointed with the latest batch of MMO's that have come out, and I'm not going back to WoW either.

But I to was going to do the 14 day free trial, it's been years since I played. So you mean I can't do a 14 day free trial with my existing account ??

Yes, it will not have an option for it.  If you start a new account you will not have to put in any CC info (in fact I didn't even put an email address in) and it takes only a few seconds to process.

I have been all over the place so you are not restricted to the starter area and there does not seem to be a level cap either so far (I am lvl 13) so I will continue to play for at least the 14 days.

I played EQ for years then EQ2 at launch and they I really got into SWG and got station access and the whole 9 yards.  Then SOE ruined the SWG experience for me and I was so bent that I canceled everything.  Even now there is something in me that says don't do it as long as SOE is in charge but I am trying to forget about it and have fun.

I love the graphics and it runs perfect at high settings on my machine.  The whole game seems to have gotten better and now I have links to some good sites for information so I can read up on builds and quests and such.  I am on the PVP server and have yet to get ganked!

If you get on and want to send a tell my toon's name is angelion.

You need to watch this then. This was at the SOE Fanfaire last month. I was there because I have been thinking about going back, even though I have the same feelings you do about SOE after they ruined SWG for me, I left after the CU and swore I would never play another SOE game again. But with what they are planning to do with EQ2 and what they are adding to it, it's really amazing.
