it's not worth the $15 USD you pay for it, definitely. When compared to better MMORPG's that are on the market.

    Tried: WoW
Played: EQ, EQII, AO, SWG, NGE-SWG, LoTRO, WAR, Vanguard, Eve, WWIIOL, Guild Wars, Darkfall, AoC.
    Playing: DAoC.
    Waiting For: SW:TOR.

Especially when you consider how small the developmen team is that is currently "supporting" the game.  Especially when you consider how few and far between updates to the game are made, and how little content each update brings when much more needs to be done to improve the caliber of the player's experience.

Especially when you consider how unfinished this game still is, over a year and a half after it launched.

About 15 dollars a month is standard for most US based MMORPGs.  VG is a substandard game in its current state.  Therefore a lower subscription fee I feel is highly warranted in this case.

I'd have to differ with you.  I think VG is one of the best games on the market right now.  No matter what game I play or try to play I'm constantly feeling drawn back to VG.  As for content it has more content then most games.  Updates aren't as big or frequent as some games but still I'm playing for a quality game and VG definitely delivers in that reguard today.

The only way Sony would make it free was if they added an item mall so players could buy mounts, armour and weapons for real cash. This is normal for a lot of the free MMO's out there right now.

    There is another question aswell.

Tell us why there even are any P2P games at all when GW2 (and GW for that matter) is able to come out next year with a free too play model?

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

I tried to play this game with a single core processor at the start of this year and it was terrible.

Since then I've installed an E7200 dual-core (pretty low budget) and a new motherboard. I went back to it yesterday and between my modifications and the improvements made by the developers, the change is very noticeable indeed.

You're always going to get people flaming this game. I suspect a lot of them are trying to play it on sub-par machines - they can't manage it and then they come on here ranting about how awful it is.

It does have problems, there's no doubt about that but big strides have been made, very definitely, and if you have a reasonably good machine with a DC processor and at least a couple of gigs of RAM, it's worth trying - particularly if you haven't looked at it in a year or more.

Is this your opinion or do you have evidence to back this up?

Because, over the past 1.5 yrs I have tried this game 3 times.  Longest I lasted was 4 months.  Last time I tried was after AoC bombed in May/08.  While I was playing (in May/08) here is what i experienced.

    -Race based classes

    -Ugly and limited character design

-Broken quest lines at level 4.  Halagan starting area.

    -4 (thats right 4)  servers.

-Terrible and clunky UI, not very customizable.

    In my opinion,

Its very buggy and ugly. This game never rocked, it doesnt rock now, and it probably never will.  All the "resurgence" talk is just desperate lies and I fell for it back in May but never again.

     RIP VG

As the leader of GW said you can turn a profit when you sell 4 million copies of anything. The key here is they knew it was a big chance to take. It worked for them and they will try it again with GW2. If GW sold 300k games they would never have made it past year 1.

You can bet an NCSoft game will be polished? Try TR yet?

GW2 is coming out free to play because their first one sold 4 million copies and counting. Had they sold half a million like many other MMOs they would have folded. Their gamble that a really good MMO can survive Free of monthly charges worked for them, chances are it would not work for every MMO that tried it. They pulled it off and I hope GW2 is just as good. They are taking a big chance on GW2, they may burn up this time, but I hope not as I am looking forward to that one.

I just started the game and the trial island and the lower level areas are pretty populated, right now I believe the dev who posted that the trial has doubled some servers for population.

What is wrong with having 4 servers? Servers only matter if you can over fill them to the point of lag.

Secondly, I never said you were ignorant.  I simply told you about the experience that I got in May 08.

And yes, I did find a game that has met expectation, not quite "my level of perfection."   Been playing it  for three years.

    Relax, you'll fanboi longer.

Point taken, I am just criticizing the amount of population in the game.  When I was there in May '08 it was vast and empty.  Your right, its not the amount of servers that make a difference.  I was trying to make a point that its not a very populated game for the huge world that it has to offer.

Okay what question? Please don't say it's the one where you say " is this your opinion" ......

This is really an inane comment as a persons  views of any MMO is subjective ,however it is a fact that only 5/600 of the quests I've done have been broken ...it is a fact that the Isle of Dawn has hundreds of new players ...it is a fact that I find groups every time I logon or I quest with my guild ..it is a fact I love the game for it's immersive  PVE qualities

All these points validate my previous comment which was " the game rocks and is seeing a resurgence "

Not sure how  else I can answer your question ?

You right I apologize ...you didn't call me ignorant :)...my bad :)

According to the devs the population on some servers has doubled with the trial and the Isle of Dawn. Depending on how many stay I would have to say Vanguard will a bit of a surge in population. I do not see that as a desperate lie, I see that as the truth until I see otherwise. As someone who started on the Island I can tell you it was pretty well populated even at 2am EST when I play after work. On weekends during the day it was very active. Also after all this time there are areas that people go to level because of the uber gear and places that get ignored. Me as a new player do not know which ones are which and kind of ramble along and sometimes I run into lots of people(Trengal Keep) and other areas I kind of have to myself.

Vanguard should not be without a monthly fee. The last thing this game needs is a bunch of free loaders stinking up the community. This game is one of the only true MMORPG's out there these days.

Making VG free to play would be a terrible Idea..

VG is a great game.  I'm glad to see it's gaining players..

But it isn't "all that" like a lot of people on here say.

It was released EARLY and to this day the dream that is VG is still not realized (and by adding all that instanced travel really.. sort of ruined it more..)

-Race based classes - Meh like most mmorpg ^^

-Ugly and limited character design - they have added more customization sliders in last GU

-Broken quest lines at level 4.  Halagan starting area. - Yeah. for a game thats over a year old it should not have any. but fanbois will defend the game still

    -4 (thats right 4)  servers. - pop does not = quality ^^

-Terrible and clunky UI, - not very customizable. You can change the UI if you want like in WoW with ADDONS .http://www.vginterface.com/

The graphics comparing to the system needed to play the game on max are a bit low...
