The Zealot: Best healer I've ever played.

I've played healers in other games, Druid in EQ, Priest in WoW...

I've always hated and loved them.  Hated because to be a great healer, I was not so good at damage.  To be great at damage I suffered as a healer.   I hated how easily I would fall if my tank failed, how hard it would get if I needed or wanted to go soloing for my own amusement.

Not any more, granted a Zealot is weak, and there are times I fall far too quickly.  But most of the time, I can survive, or at least put up an admirable fight!

Now that I have played a Zealot, I almost wish to try out the Rune Priest, just to see the difference across the races!

My wife commented that the zealot is like mixing a Shadow and Holy Priest together, and that's not far off the mark.  I can hurt, and heal.  I can keep her Black Orc alive and help as we drop a lvl 19 hero (I was 14 she was 19 at the time) and we do it well.  I've healed her with 5,6 even 8 lvl 19 mobs on her.  Kept her up while she tanked 3-4 champions all the while adding my own damage to the mix.

Of all the claims by Mythic, the one about "healers can't and won't jsut sit in the back healing" is the most true I have seen.

Yah, try an archmage. If you enjoy a good solo challenge, they are excellent.

Nuking and Healing. You can do either and both.

I was going to say, try the archmage.  You can switch between healing or nuking depending upon what is needed and what you feel like doing.  They are amazing healers but I can also stay alive and fully healed with 2 destruction on me for at least until backup arrives, it's fabulous.

yes Mythic has really done a good job with healers.  My main is a Warrior Priest and being on the front lines and having a variety of ways to heal my group is a lot of fun.

LOL. I lol'd. Alright, to the op....ZEALOTS ROCK. I love my zealot. Granted, my highest healing under level 10 was 62,000 and over level 10 (currently 12) my highest was only 59,000. I average about 40,000-50,000. I shield, heal, and can even do enough damage to take down other players. Players need to learn to go after the healers. Wait, don't. I enjoy being in a scenario, not being targeted, and healing everyone while they are being beaten on, LOL.

But ye man Zealots are fun. I can have 5 guys on me....with potions, the morale bar rising and giving me that heal, and my heals and shields, lol I can withstand 4-5 guys while running away.....then sprint ftw.

I've also got a level 14 rune priest. I don't enjoy rune priest as much tbh. They don't really do damage but boy can they heal. I just don't like the feel of my rune priest, though. I love the feel of Zealots because I feel like I can defend myself better on my zealot. Plus the destruction atmosphere to me is way better then the order atmosphere. Order reminds me too much of wow.

ZEALOTS OWN. =) They are by far the funnest healers in my opinion. I'm enjoying mine, just hit level 13. =)

I'd go as far as to say that in my total MMO experience, the Zealot is actually the first healer I've ever played, period... My main characters in WoW were always Druids, but I liked the versatility of healing as more of a way to support myself while I went down the Feral path and tore things apart... But above all, I enjoyed being the random buffer, with the series of DoT heals and the fabulous Mark of the Wild.

My Zealot's somewhere in the range of rank 8, renown 6 or so, and I have to say that I'm enjoying it... I wish I had a bit more buff power, or at least the option to cast my Marks without being grouped (this is even a problem with Warbands, in that you can still only cast on your own party within the WB), but for the most part it's sexy. Running the Chapter 3 PQ Macabre Fervor half a dozen times just to get my influence bar out of the way, I consistently remained in the top two every time just making sure that if *anyone* in the three party Warband dropped any less than 100% I'd keep 'em alive, and if folks were good and my AP was in the clear, I'd pull a few mobs for decent damage and let the team finish the job.

Of course, I still need to get the hang of PvP now. Usually, either I help some of the other healers turn the team into an invincible force, or I run around like a chicken spamming self heals like mad until someone realizes I'm in trouble. It's annoying, but it's also the beauty I'm realizing about WAR healers that is the same thing I enjoyed about being a Druid in WoW: You're practically a ranged Tank if the situation calls for it. You're not meant to be DPS, but you can be a good distraction if you need to be.

I'm considering trying the Shaman next, since I think I might be getting more into the "combat healer" mentality that seems to be required for the role. However, I'm more intrigued by the Disciple of Khaine, which at this point I find myself somewhat disappointed with. Maybe they're a late bloomer class, since in my first few minutes of play I find both their heals and damage somewhat unsatisfying, and figure in the heat of a large scale RvR I'll run out of Soul Essence fast. Still, I'll take it a little farther, it is kinda fun playing a melee healer, it'll probably get better once I start upgrading both swords. :D
