Lineage 2 makes me want to puke...
Greetings MMORPG fans!
I would like to take a bit of time to point out the horrid flaws in the game. I know you've heard alot about some people who like the game, and others who hate it. And it does indeed seem to be a love-hate scenario. I for one, and one of those who hate the game, and I'll tell you why...
The game is so full of cheaters, bots, farmers, and loads of foreigners who are there for no other reason than to sell items and money on E-bay. Interestingly enough, NCSoft does nothing about this fact, allowing them to ruin the game for everyone else. You cannot go to areas of high drops, good mobs, or any good drops, because it is nearly guaranteed that there will be Chinese farmers there who will kill you if you try. So, you're left just wandering aimlessly killing anything you can get decent exp off.
But then NCSoft comes in and says they in fact are stopping those farmers. But are they? NO. They will instead ban players who trade items to their friends across servers, or make any attempt to talk about buying something from a fiend in real life. They arbitrarily seek out english-speaking players and ban them. Meanwhile, countless people continue to buy things from E-Bay and farmers continue to fill the servers. I for one am sickened by the creators of this game, and won't play their bastardized clone of EQ any longer. I think everyone should just wait for WoW or EQ2 since this game offers NOTHING, and neither do any of their other titles.

1. Most players can't see the difference between a bot and a player just using ingame controls (such as rightclick assist, etc.), also due to the way of targetting, movement looks robotic at times.
Also, due to the amount of asians, people assume more that they're bots, than they otherwise would.
And NCSoft does do alot against the cheaters, but farming isn't against the rules (and if you look at the company site of the money sellers, they sell for ALL games, not just Lineage 2), a large ring on our server got busted recently, dusins of players got banned out of the game, including several bosses.
Your gaming experience seems to indicate you either didn't level too much, is utterly and extremely unlucky or something like that...I and anyone else who plays has never had problems getting great spawn points, good drops and great fun...the only places that were a pain, is cruma tower when needing to spoil crafted leather, since porta rooms are often taken.
also i found the grind in L2 at higher lvls to be alot worse than some other games that ive played

Lineage II is a horrible game.
PvP is totally unbalanced and extremely too level dependent. 1 level 50 can kill 6 mid level 30s.
Griefers and farmers rule the servers.
The economic system was written by Stephen King.
The only good thing about the game are the graphics. Its beautiful.
My advice; stay away from it, it'll be dead when WoW and EQ2 come out.
I wouldn't bet on it to die with WoW and EQ out as it attracts a different audience. Guess what, some people enjoy grinding, harsg death penalty etc. and justify it by saying you have to work hard to achieve something. To these people WoW and similiar are kid's games

Mayny of the jerks are heading out / quitting.
I am leaving, so are most of my ingame freinds.
The towns are flooded with ppl selling, far less buying.
Prices are dropping on many items.
To say that WoW or EQ2 are kid games, it doesn't take a whole lot of maturity to play L2. Friends are playing EVE and in that game being mature enough to interact with fellow gamers benefits your character and enjoyment with the game.
The game will die a lot sooner than most think, unless NCsoft changes the economics and PvP inbalances between character races / professions.
L2 is already dead as far as I'm concerned. And all thats left is the maggots eating the decomposing flesh.

Just because you're leaving doesn't mean everyone else is. They said UO would close after EQ, and guess what, its still around going forward towards its 8th year annerversary.
1. Of course more people are selling than "buying" (in the form of buyshop), there are far less things you can outright buy compared to what you can sell (like often you won't see anyone buying weapons or armor, because to do that you need to have at least 1 of them already), but other than that, the game is very lively in all towns.
2. Prices are dropping because more are found and more are crafted, so the prices drop to near the crafting/crystal cost and not the uberprices they start out with. Simple economics.
Well, there were a lot of problems with this game(the more memorable being the worst character customization of any video game ever, and a community that treats people from other countries like throat cancer. The same can be said for players under level 40). But I had a unique experience in the beta that probably no one else had. In fact, I was gonna write a huge fan fiction based upon it, but then this site for some reason deleted the post when I pressed "post message", so the kind of pissed me off. Considering I spent a good 20 minutes writing it. Also, the preview button brings up a blank screen, but maybe that's for a different topic...
The point is, though the game is flawed, you can manage to have a fun and unique experience with it if you try hard enough.
EDIT: Also, the colour option is a bit iffy, considering the "/color" part is typed in after the smiley, but the blue ends at the first paragraph...

Sure WoW and EQ2 don't bring much new to the table, but you know the tech support is there, well at least for Blizzard, Sony jacked up Planetside, but at least that was due to them listening to the forums. NCsoft America can't do anything without Korea getting involved. So basically nothing bad about the game will be fixed except for bugs and exploits, the game play will remain the same.
If early reviews are right on, D&D online might be what we've been waiting for. True customizable players, from classes to skills. Everything Lineage could have been but wasn't. Lineage 2 is basically Diablo 2 with a bigger less restrictive world.
I bought Lineage II, played it for about 4 weeks, and quit. The reason being is the
PVP System and the leveling was just rediculous. You'd bust ur a$$ trying to level up, finaly do it.. and some random korean guy comes out of no where and kills you de-leveling you, making you have to regain like 3 more hard earned exp. If the exp would be more like Ragnarok Online, where leveling doesent really get hard intall your about level 75, I would have played it alot more. My advice to those who are looking for a new game, this is not the game for you. It is neglected by the main branch of the company, and is just.. difficult for people who have lives. Maybe if I played 24/7 and had all 3 meals brought to my computer desk, I could reach level 40 by the end of next month, but me..even as a gamer.. does not want to spend that much time on a game that is just going to get eaten up after the games everyone has been waiting for is released ( WoW, EQ 2, etc) ... go play EVE or somthing :P

The huge flaw in this game is the NC soft korea crew. They dont try anything big to get rid of farmers which makes me think they are probably running bots themselfs to sell adena online or something other people think this also. They make insane level grind to make you want to play the game longer so at least your a mid to high range level before you quit. Its so easy to sell adena online because it takes so long to make enough money for the uber item so if people from china are playing this game it would be stupid for them not to think about selling adena for U.S dollars but NCSOFt Korea does nothing about this they dont ban their I.P's . The game is preaty fun pvp wise and i realy like the character look sounds affects more then any other mmorg ive played i just wish there wazs more to pvp then castle seiges
and random killing just because of an argument ,scam, or just because. This game has huge potential
if only they had a U.S.A team for this game who have some honor and dedication to their players.
I quit this game because i had to sell my pc i kinda want top go back but the release of EQ 2 is close
so im going to wait and maybe try SB for the pvp.

lol, how'd I know I'd find a post like this when I came to these forums. I was comming here just to see if anyone else hated the game.
Lineage2 is a terrible game for those of you who haven't played it. If your researching the games and seeking one that you would enjoy, don't chose Lineage2. I played this game for at least 4 months from open beta til the time I quit, I had several characters most above lvl 30. The level grind is so bad that you will often find that your killing stuff out of boredom. Not only do you grind for experience to lvl up but you also grind for the skills that you need to survive when you've achieved high enough lvl to get them. Ahh isn't that enough to turn you away? No? Ok well you also grind HORRIBLY for your next item upgrade the prices are like gas in real life they only go up and never go down so what does that mean? Your stuck with the crap you got while saving up the money for an upgrade, by the time you get it you're in need of something even better than that. If it werent for the farmers and the ebayers most of the players wouldnt' be where they are today whether they admit it or not.
Lineage 2 is not for you trust me.
The people who say they enjoy it are lying to themselves I can almost guarantee it. If there are people who really enjoy it then I would guess these people are ticklish all over their body, cause they're very easily amused with a game so dull and lacking content.

Well just to add my worthless comments like everyone else...
I have a college friend who "plays" Lineage II. The reason playes is in quotes is because he actually farms in the game, as many of you have described. He logs in, activates his bot and goes to class or what have you. He basically leaves the game on as long as the server permits. He admits that he doesn't even "play" the game anymore. As for the company not cracking down on E-bay sells, you are mistaken. My friend has been selling accounts on E-Bay, but has recently been shut down. They didn't ban his account(s) but they did prevent the auctions.
And any game that blatantly allows the farming and general AFK-playing of the member base has some serious problems. It actually reminds me a great deal of SWG. Another worthless game.

Well, I'm glad to see so many responses to my topic. It seems clear that at least from the opinion of people who frequent MMORPG.com (who doesn't?) that Lineage 2 is a flop and would take some SERIOUS revamping to be worth anyone's time. I mean, I recently picked up Saga of Ryzom until EQ2 comes out and have found that the player base is much more mature and the fact that they have separate servers for different parts of the world makes things MUCH better. If you've got a little extra money and aren't currently on anything else, it's worth a try for anyone. But it's not for the casual gamer, that's for sure.
I think that games just can't sit under the bar without offering new ideas and features to the MMORPG community and expect players to flock in and pay for their game. Unbalanced and "clone" game systems are just filling the genre with replicant garbage. But that's just one guy's thought. Let's see the bar raised!

Hm..I agree Blizzard does rule, they come out with cheaper products, cheaper monthly fee if not free, better support, more player, less "cheaters", its just overall a better and more fun experience.
I do have to agree with the people who say that the servers are flooded with foreign people farming, using bots, just to sell adena. Im not racist or anything, i am foreign myself, i just like to play the games for the fun, not to make profit off them.
Im not to sure on NCSOFT policies though, it seems they like to burn the small fish but leave the big fish to to get bigger.
I also agree that they do target those individuals who trade adena across servers and those people who might be selling there account on ebay becuase they dont want to play anymore, but then there are those companyies who are marketing and selling adena and buying adena just to make a profit. Seems they are not even touched.
I used to like NCSOFT, especially while Lineage I just barely came out of beta. Was the best game I ever palyed, but it slowly went down hill, then Lineage 2 came out and all the Lineage I players left killing it. Now Lineage 2 has gone downhill do to the bots in the game, i would have to say about 25% of the players are actually bots.

I never said there were'nt bots in the game. The problem with people reporting these is (sorry for my use of the word idiot) that ill informed people call anything/person a bot if they happen to be out farming with a name like babylove005, coolbaby006 etc. What happens is they report this person who is mindlessly farming to a gm, gm does a simple check and finds out that there is someone at the keyboard who..is in fact [b]not[/b] a bot.
the term bot in the game has been so over-used its no wonder that they have a hard time tracking down the real bots. people just need to be a bit more informative when reporting peoples actions instead of using the word Bot for every annoying act someone might do in game. If you really want a gm response to a person causing you some form of grief, dont use the word bot. you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Well unfortunately even if there werent bots in the game or farmers or anything in it's likeness the game is still a very boring game. It lacks content and has an almost non existant story line. The game is all about Castle Sieges and I've participated or watched castle sieges and I really can't see any fun in that.. Go to a castle siege where there's about 400 other players standing around ready to deffend it or help you over take it. Let the lag begin. Then once it starts you get ppl casting these big siege golems to get inside the castle, what happens next? Sweet let's go in and get owned by a mob of guards who move faster than players and who simply hurt in numbers..
There's no question that the upcomming games such as World of Warcraft or EverQuest2 will bury Lineage2.
I feel that the game is mostly populated by players who don't have any other games to play and they're semi far along in Lineage2 yet they're not completely sure they're having fun. Those that are hanging onto Lineage2 by a thread, redemption is nigh, just wait til the big games come out then you'll have your choice of some real MMoRPG goodness.
PS Looks can be decieving don't go by what pleases the eye, Eye candy is only sweet for so long but just like any sweets they do get old after you eat so much of it.
Go by Content that's what's gonna keep you involved in the game not pretty graphics..
