-To realise that items need to have some value to be worth getting.
-To realise that look of the game is not as important as the actual gameplay.
-To reaslie the guild system and the future of "kingship" system was faulty from scratch
-To realise they need to give out items to ppl that are JUST gonna pay the subscription and not even play at this time.
Now if only they would have actually listened to testers 2 years ago...

What makes you so sure they realize any of this even now?

Now one thing is to realise it - now they have to change it all around..... Thats why they are coming up with the great "powerpoint" system. You pay them money - they reward you in 10 months time with something (maybe with items when they become worth getting ?)
All in all - this letter from the director shows the huge issues the game has. It also shows it will take years to acomplish this status.... oh wait Xbox version is coming ?
But still the stocks keep falling for 15% per day. Under 5 NKR now.
I dont think they have figured this out yet.
They seem to have the arrogant mindset of they know what we should like better than we do.
That was before stock fell under 5 NKR per share. Now its time to call for help and ask ppl to pay for the next two years before half of it can be implemented.
Thats their powerpoint program btw ! You will see in two years what you might get ! So PLZ help them - Just pay.
What makes you so sure they realize any of this even now?
According to the post from the NGD (new game director)
They will be merging servers,
they will completely revamp kingship from the ground up
Items and stats will now be more meaningfull
DX10 will be pushed back until they figure ourt more important issues.
Now I understand that Funcom has very little to offer in the credibility department, but it seems that they are at least making a slight effort to listen to the playerbase and (at least) verbaly aknowledge that some of their original ideas are not worth a damn, or where implemented poorly.
I see that as good news and it looks as though they now have a better idea as to the direction they want to take the game.
Of course, it may take them another 5 years to do this, but they seem to have pulled their heads out and realize that ignoring customers nets you a dying game and stocks that sell for less than a dollar a share.
Wow.. this guy might actually save Conan.. too bad it's too late for so many of us to ever return. I think the best thing that ever happened to this game was the removal of Guate Gauger.

'Cry Havoc, and Let Loose the Dogs of WARRRRR!!!'
yeah I think unfortunately for the game Gaute didn't want to try anymore
he did what he thought was right, it didn't work out for the company, and so for the past few months he just sorta bowed out saying "i was wrong" (or something like that)
kinda feel sorry for the guy, but its good for the company that he decided to leave because he tried, failed, and then developed a sort of defeatist attitude towards the game I think
"I did all that i could do, and it wasn't enough"
which is understandable
the new guy is some fresh air I think
good ideas lets hope they play out
(im not playing AoC but would love for it to be fun and would come back.. playing WAR atm and I can't keep myself interested past lvl 15) i just keep creating characters /sigh
Just when you think you have all the answers, I change the questions.
What about all the testers who didn't want gear to be a big influence?? I remember all those "Plz FC" posts. We don't want a gear dependant game. So now we have a mild reversal to the populous now, who wants it to mean something a bit more than it does now.
Does that come at the expense of skill or just down to knowing your class inside out?
Well I was a tester, so I can speak of what happend in my case atleast.
The main thing that worried me most was Funcom's arrogance towards me (since I can only speak for myself here). I knew the trouble Funcom was going to face, and I reported the flaws in the game to Funcom, only to be ignored by automatic mails or no mail at all. Even then I continued to play for a while, but in the end I could not bear the ignorance anymore, and just quit for Funcoms best. (cos the money talks in that camp).
The management is quite hard to get flowing in the right direction in a MMO company. That is for sure. I just had hoped that after so many MMO's we have seen failed on the market to this date, that Funcom would have learned just a tiny bit. Arrogance is what killed Funcom. Speaking for my self again and noone else, I saw the big picture of the underlying root cause problem, while the whole Funcom company was living out their unconscious confusion. To be sucessful in anything you do, you have to take a step back at times and tell yourself "Hey, where are we going?" "Are we on track or not?" If not, then take some more steps back and ask again. You have to find the core issue of why you fail. And from what I experienced Funcom was blaming the players in a desperate attempt to try and trick anyone into thinking everything is in order.
Well enough chit chat from me. Just ignore my post if you dont like it. It was spoken from my heart.
Goodnight
If I wanted a gear game, I'd still be in wow.
Quit wow for AoC, quit AoC after Two months.
What am i playing at the moment nothing.
Waiting on sgw.
