Your thoughts on stamina?

SlappanSlappan Member Posts: 289

Okay, so stamina is one of the widely discussed issues in the forums and in-game. What are your thoughts on it? Does it promote casual players to catch up with other people? Does it limit how long you play? How can it be improved?

Personally, I don't see any problems with stamina, probably because I can't use it all up in a day of playing. But I can understand other people who play long stretches and run out of stamina.

Your going to notice stamina later on in the game.  Mabey not even at levels 50-60 if your super casual, but your going to reach the point where you have to fly through mobs to complete quests and gain any significant xp per play session.  THis games like most where you get lots of quests and stuff early on but later, you get few large quests.

I understand they nerfed the hell out of stamina, but now my question is, why even have it?

There was never a problem with people participating in pvp or mentoring or guilds before they dropped this system in.

Just my thoughts, why have such a system, there are plenty of ways to reward casual play rather than punish it.  Games arnt suppose to be about punishment and restrictions, mmo's at least, they are suppose to be about freedome, rewards and fun.

Either way, the introduction of the stamina system is what led to me leaving the game, now i didnt leave just because of the system, but its definatley what made me start to loose that "new game" fun, and started my path to boredome.

if you had played in cb1 you would have seen a near perfect game, get patched into a buggy and unfun game.  They should hav eleft the game as it was, the korean version, which i know has worked just fine without modified tournaments or stamina.

good point. stamina system almost crashed the game. a lot of players left because of this. i hope Atlantica considers the CB1, or maybe creating new concept, more time in gaining experience.

Yeah i dont see stamina as a problem in this game. .  you cannot use all your stamina in a whole day leveling if you  take all quest. .  i  also have a extra character to my other account so that if i ran out of stamina i have extra character to play on ^^

I easily go tired of playing MMORPG's and I think stamina is a good thing. I am not a power player.

i was quite disappointed about the stamina feature since i can only play a hundred battles a day. considering how much free time i have, i could consume the stamina first before consuming my free time..

but now that I think about it, i could use it as an advantage since i could tell my parents that i can only play a hundred battles a day. hahaha. thus an excuse to let me use the pc for a while.

it will really teach those power thugs to minimize their computer consumption, at least give their pc's time to rest. nah, kidding aside if you want more stamina, you have to work for it or at least wait until 6am.

Dont you see? stamina is their kind of monthly sub. Just you are not "forced" to pay for it but you will "need" it in order to play all the time you want.

I dont like games that comes out and say its free than limits you of how much u can play..Matter afact this game is going to end up like Granado Espada..I bailed out on this game when cb2 hit because of the Stamina System.AO is not made for the Hard Core Gamers.Even the Final Fantasy battle scenes have limit break gauges, turn gauges and more interesting status ailments. Atlantica Online does not have these quality.

Some people rob you at gun point..Others will rob you at "Ball Point Pen"

i think its crazy. i know they want to be innovative in a way but it prevents players from playing the game! i mean i know probably its meant to curb addiction or to prevent power players from hogging the game but dont you think its more on the personal side and not on client side's initiative to remedy the side effects of such?

most reasonable thing i could think of why they would want to introduce a limiting feature to the gameplay is to eventually release a stamina pill for sale in the item mall. but as of now noobs including me get to play til my hearts content.

First of all, this is not FF. This is AO, a totally new game. Instead of thinking about stamina as a limit, I suggest that you look at stamina on the positive side: make it work for you. And stamina can be recharged BTW, and there are many ways to do it.

Apparently, the devs have been thinking up of more ways to recharge/save stamina. Some of the ways I know are the following:

    > Party battles take up less stamina, and make more exp, making it appealing to both players.

    > PVP makes it possible to recharge stam, I think its 3 stam per PVP battle won

    > Community Participation, Mentoring, etc etc all recharge stamina.

Here's the deal: hardcore players play all day long, without even thinking of participating in the community aside from selling items. That psychology technically destroys one of the main principles in MMORPG's, that is, community participation.

its either NDOORS will listen to what their ideal game is all about, or listen to what the critics and players feedback say. their ideal game is flawless, they really wanted balance between gameplay and grinding issue, which is effective but NOT necessary. the other side, a lot of players WILL quit the game if the game still implement this stamina system, which could be their downfall.

i might say stamina system is a bust, which makes me play only for almost 6 hours a day. it may seem uncontented but i have my reasons. ill figure this out by myself.

So far no problems at all.. I'm low lvl (15) and during my play time session I usually use up only 20-30 points of stamin. maybe later I will have some problems with it but there are ways to recover it.

yes same here. im only low leveled, so i dont even bother checking my stamina points. but having feedbacks with level 60+. they are always asking what will happen to stamina. i think that will be a problem. some of the power players are actually done criticizing the game early as beginners of the game, that stamina system is crap. lets see what happens next.

I think ppl have been abusing the stamina pill and been using the "community participation" for the sake fo the pill, which totally destroys the goal for which it was intended. I think for the meanwhile it is best to observe what will happen with the game, as the game is in its early stages and probably still crawling from bug fixes. If that is what is truly happening, the pill would have to wait for now.

If 100 battles a day isn't enough for you, get in a party with another person.  Then you can have 200 battles... yes you share the xp but there is a grouping bonus, also the drop rates are better.

A group of three could do 300 battles.

If you're a lone wolf, and 100 battles isn't enough, you can share monster info 5 times a day, then you can give gift to beginners 5 imes a day, and then if you are good enough to win in Free League battles you get stamina there as well.

If that still isn't good enough, well, maybe play something else when you run out of stamina?

I love this game, I like the stamina system, and I wish they'd open the item shop right away so I can send them money.

I think that stamina's use in this RPG is rather purposeful. Sure, it may not allow you to go into battles for too long but it prevents problems like hackers. And it also asks you to be a more social player. Nice.

Actually, it doesn't ask, it tells you to be more social, but it doesn't really care how, so a lot of the interaction comes to you in the form of "Hey, come do some things with me even though it won't really benefit you, but I don't really care because it'll get my stam back up."

It does nothing to encourage anything more than interaction for the moment's convenience.

  • lordlapselordlapse Member Posts: 231

Though they made some stupid changes in OB. They made people with stamina gain more EXP and poeple with no stamina the base rate of EXP. That alone destroys whatever socialization NDOORS had in mind.

They say it was better in CB.
