Lions & Tigers & Bears..Oh Blech!

Cmon now!...If I wanted to go hunt that sort of thing I'd be playing Deerhunter or Big Game Hunter (barf! - lol). What kind of fantasy genre monsters are pigs, ostrich, alligators, zebra, bunnies, puppy dog looking things, birds, chickens, bulls, deer, wolves, lions, tigers and bears....??

Although there are a few unigue mobs in some games, I think there are way too many boring mobs of this type. Maybe its easier to figure out AI for basic creatures? Slash damage...pierce damage, etc.

But seems to me it wouldn't be too tough to make some unique looking creatures to replace the earthly wildlife running rampant in our fantasy worlds. How about some evil,  detestable, vile-looking,  creatures with unpredictable AI.  Creatures that are deserving of the fury of your sword or spell and leaving you with a sense of fulfillment for having lessened their population in your fantasy world. image

What kind of mobs do you want to target? image

    I too would like to see more "orginal" models in the game, instead of rats, bears, etc.

    I'm not sure why developers don't do this either, I mean it would take almost the same time to make a bear as it would be to make an original mob of the same size. It may require a little more creativity, but for how many times you will see that model in the game I think it would be well worth it.

    And Fantasy MMOs should eliminate the human race altogether! (I know alot of people would hate this, but hell, if it's in another world what are the chances there is a race that is the same. ::::18::::::18::::::18::::::18:: )

    You know what id like to see? Id like to see huge giants riding on dragons hehehe. Id also like to see bandits riding on hatchlings(That run). And also maybe instead of a "Great Lion" they could have a "Enraged Shadow Lion"!image

    Yea... i hate that one EQ2 screenshot with the elephant. All i can say is, who the hell cares? I want a fantasy universe not an African Safari tour. They could have at least made it a fanged evil elephant that shoots poison out its trunk or a LOTR style Oliphant.

    Have to agree here, the elephant seems very wrong.

    Shame is, it's maybe the most realistic mob image I've seen. They did exceptionally well making a mob I'd rather not see in my fantasy ORPG.

    And on another note...what about fishing? Alot of games have included fishing as a skill. Should we catch something other than the same fish we might catch here in a pond? How about some creepy sea urchin or nasty looking six headed squid?

    Ac had a few variations when the skill was first introduced there...the green smelly blob that was that was totally worthless but you could put it on a house hook or set it on the ground and flies swarmed around it...lol..or the mangled skeleton you could snag, the single worn boot (that was wearable), useless - lol, but comical and creative.

    exactly If I see another fantasy game with big spiders in the game I am going to freakin scream!!!!!! I hate those spiders I mean come on can the devs not think of anything more original than a spider, they don't even do anything cool too it like make it a mutation of something like a scorpion that would be cool but no just plain boring spiders...

    //end rant

    Personally I enjoy seeing animals and creatures from Earth. It gives a sense of familiarity and helps to immerse me in to the world... It's the worlds where everything is some sort of crazy fantasy creature that I hate more. When they try to be different just for the sake of being different I get annoyed....

    That being said I'd probably just like to see those animals walking around and perhaps have trade skill value at most. Maybe the odd animal species could attack but we don't need rat infestations around EVERY city.

    I guess I dont mind the occasional real life mob, as long as it's in the minority, but hell yes I am soooo sick of spiders.

    you mean instead of mobs like hyper squirrels, slimes & bees that might STING YOU! OH NO! It's not like Im a hulking draken hero that can actually stand my ground against chipmunks and rabbits.
