I never thought it would be that much of a problem, but man they should have done something different that the old need/greed/pass system. It is totally on the honor system, please don't ninja system, and it rarely does anyone any good if some nice loot drops.
Call me a crybaby or a whiner, sure fine, but when you are the only one of your class in the group and everyone in the group needs on it and it ends up at the auction 5 mins later...something wrong there. Wasn't it Vanguard that had the need/greed/pass system where need was only available if you were the specific class for the item? Of course it didn't apply to items everyone could use.
I think it is a really simple idea; and sure it will get abused like everything else because people are greedy/farmers, but not on a scale as large as the old system.

It's true. This really needs to be changed. I can't even recall how many times I've been the only black orc in the group and half the people roll need on some BO item I desperately needed. This happens too much for this fucntion to continue to exist.

Yep, several beta testers (myself included) warned Mythic about this becoming an issue but it fell on deaf ears. It is not too late to make changes but seeing as how stubborn they were in beta about this I doubt anything will be changed.

Yes,that is one thing vanguard did right that WAR needs to copy. I think the majority of players have had ninjas steal class specific loot. The only place I have heard that this doesnt happen often is the RP server because you get called out pretty bad on there.
Then remove the "need" command all together since it is no longer used. The whole purpose of a need/greed/pass system is so that those that actually NEED the item can roll on it not because your GREEDY.

It happens on the RP servers as well. Maybe not as frequently but it does happen. I have this little notebook on the side of my desk that I write down all the names of people that do it and make sure they don't get in my groups anymore.
To all those that are responding to this thread, make sure you feedback your opinions. We could get this changed yet.

That is why there is a GREED button. If that toon that you are on does not NEED it, then you dont hit the need button.
Then remove the "need" command all together since it is no longer used. The whole purpose of a need/greed/pass system is so that those that actually NEED the item can roll on it not because your GREEDY.

I agree with the OP they really need to fix this issue. Really sick of the casualties of puberty rolling need on class specific items.
This is the reason they need to change the system. The only people that would be angry about it are those that nobody wants to play with anyway, change it and if they leave the game is better off without them. If they stay then they'll have to get loot for their alts like everyone else, play the damn alt or greed items like you should.

I agree, the vanguard system of greed/need/pass needs to be implimented. But one thing you need to remember is that at times one item to you, is another to someone else. However a chosen should NEVER be rolling on any NON chosen (or open) items.
And it's for this reason that I roll need on everything. Do unto others.. isn't that the golden rule?

I find this entire thread comical, BECAUSE.....
In all the time I have played WoW and EQ2 (over 4 years, because I was in the beta)....I have had a "ninja" loot like this, maybe TWICE, and those times were in dungeon PuGs. I played Warhammer from preview weekend to now....and it's happend over and over and over repeatedly. So to blame "WoW" or any other game, is simply ridiculous. I've had a LOT more problems in Warhammer with greedy people than I EVER had in any other game.
Perhaps the PvP crowd is a bit more greedy than what they care to admit? I don't know. What I DO know, is that a lot of the people that PLAY Warhammer right now, are apparently too greedy to even BOTHER considering anyone else. Maybe it's not the game mechanic that needs "fixing"....maybe it's the PEOPLE who play. You'd think a game that is so heavy into grouping would inspire people to have more of a cooperative attitude, but.....I don't really see that being the case here in MOST places in this game, at least up to tier 3. Sad. But then again....PvP/RvR has always drawn competitive people, and SOME competitive people are just inconsiderate as$es.
Silly thing is, in the lower 2 tiers, particularly, the stuff they are rolling on, they can only sell for a few silver, at most, when it's an upgrade for a groupmate that could use it in between getting their next RR set, and make them better for the realm. Pfft....no one cares.
What some people playing WAR have failed to consider, is that those same jerks you played in WoW's BGs with....are SOME of the same people who will LIKE and be DRAWN to War's RvR. So guess what? You will STILL get to play with some of them. ROFL The crowd that was "oh so bored" of WoW and EQ2 because "the PvP sucks"....are now going to go to play your beloved Warhammer, and they are going to be an annoyance to YOUR community, just like they were to ours. Is that Blizzard's or Sony's fault....NO....it's the fault of people that don't have enough CHARACTER or INTEGRITY to be considerate of others, and frankly......that is more prone to BE an issue with competitive younger gamers who will be, sadly, drawn to Warhammer's "all PvP" leveling system.
I feel sorry for ya, and it SUCKS.

EDIT-- Above post. I find this reply comical BECAUSE, does that actually work? Caps lock proving a point I mean. Anyway, the post you quoted is aimed at the child who had nothing to add to the conversation. I merely use WoW as an insult because it is a popular one at the moment.
I agree with you, the jerks will be there regardless of what you try and do; and a simple loot change will fix a lot of the problems they cause. Simple.

Well, sometimes it looks like people are rolling for items that are for your class, but they actually are multi class repairable items that show a different item depending on which classes is viewing it. It gets confusing, but when they're Whites, or Greys, or even BLUES it's definitely a class specific just for that class and at that point it's a ninja roll.
I don't blame WoW because WoW can't make anyone do anything. I blame poor parenting, and lack of morals.

As I said before, just send in your feedback with the ingame option. Arguing on this board of all things will accomplish nothing.

I can see both sides of the debate. Personally, if I can't use it I just pass. In this game you don't need gold, and, so far, upgrades come by pretty fast.
This has always been a problem even when I played EQ. Except in EQ NBG made no sense, because the loot was so specific. Why would casters/healers join a group where only melee items dropped?
This is just one more reason why its best to play with a good guild amongst people you will see everyday. The anonymity that is provided by random groups will cause individuals to act differently. Case in point; eldanloco. I wonder how many guilds he has been kicked from, because of his "screw the world" attitude. Perhaps, he just acts like this when no one can identify him like most cowards will do.
Anyways, my point is this will forever be a problem, and has been a problem forever. Should the game automatically force you to roll greed if you can't use it? I don't know. What if the person can exchange that item for one he can use? Then wouldn't he need that item? That is why I think it should be up to the individual. Let their own conscience guide them.
I plan to feedback this one for sure...there's not that many squig herder drops when I play but my friend gets ripped off constantly when we pug ...of course anyone who cries rip off if its a repairable item has no idea what they're talkinga bout.
Thats the big issue those damn repairable items...they only show you what YOU can repair it too but its highly possible several others can repair it as well. I've not seen any drop in a while in T2 but i know they're still ther somewhere lurking.
I haven't had a whole lot of ninja issues in WAR, a few, but no more than the norm. And it's not like I plan to PUG anything high end, that's what the guild is for

I have run into some either veteran MMOers or just really nice people. Twice now, I've had someone walk up open a trade box and give me some item that I could use that they couldn't that dropped for them. I try to pass this on when I can, which seems to be frequent since I don't see a big need for $$$ in WAR.
lol yea i have 2 blue for a magus lvl 9, a hand piece and a sash on thorgrim server and i will never use them, I think I will gave them to the first magus lvl 9 i see.
