This game is on its way out!

I swear, that is all I see lately.

Every forum section on here I go to, every single game I look at, I go to the forums, and someone says its going to die in a year.

Why so negative?

Why so much trolling?

Groovy.

There is only one decent MMO on the market and that one has too many boring quests for me to be fun in the long run but I did spend over one year in it trying out most of the races and classes so it must have some appeal.

And to your question, people just loves to complain thats all.

While others get a slim slam, WoW is growing.... quite fat.

Connection or is there too many Dunkin' Donuts coffee shops?

I think most mmos that come out now just dont have the staying power wow does.

    Or the crack like addiction.

    ...mmm...crack

i think the problem is that many mmorpgs released the last months and year, would have been great games 3 years ago but today WoW has grown so heavy in content it's nearly impossible to challenge that.

I can only see a company with enough funds and patience to polish the product, having a fair chance to "kill the hunger", which the masses have gotten over the past years.

4-5 years ago it was totally normal and okay having a bug filled mmorpg, today it's unforgiveable.

Luxury problem, mmorpg players have become spoiled.  =S

  • theratmonkeytheratmonkey Member Posts: 684

    They really have.

A game needs big funds to become a large success.

Also, since WoW came out, it has set a new standard for "success".

It's not longer just 500K, or 1 million, you have to atleast try to get 5 million, or your game fails.

    Groovy.

because most people are idiots, if a game has all the features of WoW, its nothing but a WoW clone, but if it lacks any of them, its incomplete.

The amount of whining on forums about the laughbly tiny things in WAR for example should reduce your faith in humanity to nothing, someone honestly having a good old fashioned cry about the fact that he earned a title that he didnt like. My god people, are you really this stupid? Is it the legacy of WoW forums that a plague of crybabies has been released to the internet?

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. No classes either, so I'm not sure what game's he's talking about then.

Uhm.. what game are you talking about?

  • Calintz333Calintz333 Member UncommonPosts: 1,193

Yeah seriously  the only game where iv yet to see a big number of people posting "omfg this games going to die" is WoW forums...But come on

Any and all  Free 2 play Korean grind fests- Already dead, At least to me these games are worse than garbage, To me only people who are upgrading from games like Runescape or Adventure quest should look into these. Also, I don't see any of them making it big time Except maple story for some reason.

AoC..I don't know But I read alot about it being a downer.

Warhammer, Have read some really good things about it if you get past the graphics.

FFXI First hand I can tell you in my server PEEK times 1600 players. Regular 1200. So yeah...dying.

Guild wars-  Lets see its old, a new version already in the works to come out next year, most people the only thing they got left is to title grind..umm yeah its kinda easy to see its dying.

Lineage 2- Its world wide still doing better than WoW player wise (counting the you guys know which servers which have millions more. ). And even without them i think its done quite well. (A very large established loyal player base that does not quit).

anyways yeah lots of games are going down and not growing, Because the player base is established in the first year or 2, Those players that LOVE the game will stay until damn well near the end of its life, But after the core player base very few will come in and more and more will leave. WoW is an exception its got a very established player base and still the top of the charts when it comes to computer games purchased.

I can't name one MMO that wouldn't absolutely cry tears of joy to have 500k to 1 mill active subs.  WoW is a monster, no other game needs close to that number of subs to be profitable.  500k to 1 million active subs would make any game wildly profitable.

Sorry to burst your WoW bubble as much of a good game as it is, You forget That Lineage 2 is an even bigger game World wide. Over 15million players. + Hundreds of thousands of players on P-Servers.

I would say speaking on a world wide basis the best mmo would be Lineage, But in YOU'RE OPINION WoW is.

Sorry to burst YOUR bubble but NCSoft discloses exact subscription numbers in their financial reports. The last report I can find is from 4th quarter 2007 where Lineage 2 was at 926,570 subscribers worldwide. Since then Lineage 2 has seen steady growth so it should be around 950,000 subscribers now.

MMOs can survive off around 150,000 subscribers(and most of Z3RO1s list of Games not Dying is in this range) but they do so by drastically cutting back costs or leeching from the companies other more successful projects.

So, while it seems that Tabula Rasa could be cancelled at any time NCSoft will keep it afloat by cutting back development of updates or with money from Lineage 2.

    DDO : Dying

Has a decent Size community How is this game dying? cause It doesn't have a million Subs?

    Vanguard : Dying

Vanguard has come a long way, The Devs are giving the game some Lovin and players have been generally receptive to it. A bunch of MMOs have had bad starts and improved greatly afterwards Eve is an example of that.

Ryzom : Died and brought back to life and dying again

Yep It was bought By another company and since then has had what 20k members try the game I wouldn't call that dead, Give the devs some time to improve the game

Wurm : Never heard of that game before

Its an Indy Sandbox, behind the time on the graphics side but the features are nice and it sports a nice community.

You really know what you are talking about. [sarcasm]

Yes I do know what I'm talking about, Majority of the players on this forum would agree with my list or atleast most of it. So please troll else where.
