CHRIST ALL I HEAR ABOUT IS POTENTIAL.... when does potential stop and actual game features start???
I mean i waited on potential for 6+ months and saw nothing of ryzom's potential. Saying a game has potential basically means it 'could' go down a path that would make it great or more likely the dev's being greedy could make the game suck.

Heh, for once Neas and I actually agree on something :-)
I must admit I get fed up hearing about the 'potential' of a game, not just Ryzom, but any game. I don't want potential, I want features. We have been told that there are many new features planned for the first couple of patches - that's what I want to hear about, not how much potential a game has.
After playing several MMOGs with 'potential' it seems that for many MMOG companies, potential means broken promises...
I have only recently heard about this game as well. Seems to have created quite a bit of hype. I used to be a DAoC player until last year. Just wonder if this game has the same kind of level grind and what about the questing system? Can't wait for WoW any longer... I need something to kill while waiting...

* The community is great. The people who play this game are incredibly mature (unlike some mebers on this forum), and friendly. If you are new to the game and feel somewhat alone, just head to one of the main gates and there will always be someone to join. The support staff are very understanding and will listen to whatever you have to say - in game ! So far all major events have been all including - people play this game to have fun together.
* Even if you've decided to play a mage or melee warrior, all the other classes are open and will provide you with a very wide variety of choice.
* The graphics are very nice, and after a little bit of patching there is hardly any lag at all. A group of 50 peeps fighting 20 mobs will experience no lag at all.
I'm having fun so far. I played beta and thought the game was kind of nice, but it had some really annoying bugs. They made some changes in play and fixed up the annoying server stall issue. It's only been a couple of games, but I'm enjoying the mindless hunting so far.
Like everyone else, I have been hearing that this game has potential... but to me that means jack. I wanna see things working and know that if I play it for 2 years it will be fun and have things to do. When I hear that a game still has some major bugs, but the potential is good, I do one thing. I put it on the back burner and take a look at it again in a year or so; then, if the potential panned out, I'll join. I've been burnt too many times to jump into a game with potential.
What I would like to know is why is that person saying Ryzom sucks? I hate people that just say it sucks and leave it at that. Not very convincing.
Unfortunatly on www.mmorpg.com there is a review on this game. It wasn't as positive as I thought it would be. The game looks great in screenshots and the trailor I've seen in video rocks (Litterally too, the background music is Heavy Metal)... but the reviewer says it lacks people. Is this true?
I bought this game about 2 weeks ago, was reading up on how "everyone" thought this game was great, and could even beat wow and eq2..I played the beta and really didn't like it then, but thought I would give the retail version a go...stupid me wasted 50 dollars..lets see...disappearing npc's, laggy, boring combat system, the graphics are ok (kind of remind me of AO in a way)..but after playing the eq2 and wow betas..this game is crap compared to the next big 2..in my opinion let them add more content, fix the bugs that are out there now before trying this game..it has the potential (haha sorry) of becoming a good game..just right now it sucks imo :P
okay, i've been reading about this game for about an hour and half, this morning, it looks like a really fun game, i wanna try it, but it looks like you need a top-of-the-line system to play it , and i dont have that, but i wish they would have a 14 day free trial, so i can try out the game and see how it runs on my computer,
I am enjoying this much more than I expected to. Complete control over the choices about your character is a nice change from EQ2's linear development (*shudder*), and I really like how you can mix-and-match the components of your existing spells to make your own.
The community is one of the most mature I've found, which is a big plus for me. The game is more challenging than those with scads of fansites and guides, but I kind of like that too - makes me feel like I'm really adventuring and exploring a new world. (This learning curve is probably why the kids don't like it as much.)
The graphics are just plain gorgeous. Not as cartoony as WoW, nor as flat as EQ2. Even the non-gamers in my family have stopped to look at my screen and comment about how beautiful the world is. Definitely the most immersive game I've found, either released or in beta. I keep stopping to watch things things like a predator running into a herd of cow-like critters, scatter them, and then take one down. Very cool.
I don't talk much on these forums, but I got lucky and found this game at the store before I even realized it had been released so I thought I'd spread the word.
i really want to try this game out, but im scared if i buy it, my computer wont run it, and it will be a waste of money , but i might give it a go, does it give a free month if u buy it? like all the other mmo's?
Mino ..I play on a very average machine and have no problems 1.6 Pent 4 ..512 Ram and gforce 4 vid card. Yes you get 1 month free of play. They just gave an extra week free due to a Lag problem they had a few weeks ago in addition to original month. I have never seen this done and I have played many MMO's in the past. Was a nice touch by the devs ..making up for a defect in their product. They have also decided to let everyone re spec their character after patch 1 one time. I am happy about that because there are a few points I would have used differently when building my Character. Not that it would have been a big problem you really cant gimp your character with the open character building they have in place ..just saved some game time I can now spend on other things. WEll time to go beat on some more Kippees
