Battlegrounds and Houses.

KingGrowlKingGrowl Member UncommonPosts: 237

Man, WoW looks to be a great game, But I am sadend that Houses are no where in site. I really wish they would implement them. Having houses that you can decorate and store you rewards would be great, damn blizzard give us houses!

Also is no one as excited about battlegrounds as I am? They look to be VERY cool i forget what rep but someone said that they where suposed to be like "Battlefield 1942 meets Warcraft III" with spawn points when you die, grunts, the works! That just sounds so cool one of the reasons I chose WoW over many of the other MMORPGS thats are going to be coming out within they coming months.

So In conclusion, Blizzard give us houses.

Why arnt people as excited about Battlegrounds as I am.

I can live without houses, but it would be a mighty fine plus.

I haven't seen much on battlegrounds. Can you hook me up with a link or something so that I can learn a little bit more?

    Battlegrounds

Special Zone are available in the game world which are always set to PvP. These zones are not restricted tot he PvP servers but they also appear on the 'normal servers' as contested territory.

These Battleground zones also feature quests with greater rewards due to the increased danger. If the commander of an enemy town, the town becomes 'razed' and honour points are added to your teams score.

Siege weaponry has been a popular topic of discussion and although this has yet to be implemented Blizzard are looking to add the feature after the game has launched. Once added. players will have to not only finish off any NPCs but actually destroy all the buildings.

    Theres a little on them

    And heres a link.

The only thing keeping this game alive is the PvP and battlegrounds. Houses really needed to be implemented in this game, but Blizzard won't put it in i guarentee it. Just like they won't put any more customization, so there will be 20 clones running around one city.

But with the battlegrounds, PvP, and fast paced leveling... Tons of people will throw 60 bucks down to play this game.

Blizzard have stated so far a lot of things won't be in for release, but instead added post release.

But they left out battlegrounds, so im confident they'll be in for release.

That said, I can live w/o housing easily, but it would be nice for them to get it in sooner than later. AS long as they implement it well, they can take their time. I really hated the way SWG did housing, and Blizzard will hopefully just add on an area in the city for housing, instead of letting people build in any random spot they'd like <--- dumb.

     Thanks for pointing that out.

     I think it's fixed now.

I sure hope they have a server where leveling is harder...I personaly don't want to see level 60s in the first couple weeks.

How does housing generally work in other games?  Do you go to an elevator and get on to get to your floor and then proceed to your space?  Does everyone share one magic house that shows your stuff when you enter it?  Curious as to how other games have handled it.  If you got to pick housing in a certain city which would you pick?  I'd personally probably go for something small near Ratchet.

AC1 had the best housing system. There were different kinds of houses and they were static objects in the world. Built in little communities they were spread out to reduce lag. When the houses were full all the slow people got apartments that were a seperate zone from the rest of the world. :P I kinda miss my house now. *sigh*

After looking into battle games, I think this title actually deverves the name "World of Warcraft." Everything that they are adding to battlegrounds makes it seem like a warzone. Sounds like it is going to be something to look forward to.

Let's see, if I could chose anyplace in Azeroth to put my House on...I'd put it either in some random forest or maybe just a clear meadow. It will be a nice change of scenery rather than that god forsaken desert that the Trolls start off in.

I would like houses in world of warcraft but there would hae to be some point to them. Not just walking into it and standing there. Shadowbane had a houseing system and theres miles and miles of empty land when I played, unless they changes it... I have no ideas on how Blizzard can make houses with something useful in them so I can live without them aswell. Though the battlegrounds sound sweet! Cant wait to see themimage

I am a PvEr and will play on that sort of server but with the PvP award system they wish to put in with the addition of PvP battlegrounds I actually look forward to having the ability to PvP!

Now that is saying alot right there image

Ok with houses? I noticed that there is alot of 'fake' buildings that cannot be enter in such places as Stormwind if no other. If they put in homes I PRAY they do it like FFXI. The SWG homes caused a decrease of Mobs to appear.

I hope they improve the way FFXI did theres by being in a group you can select who's home you goto to show off your home... maybe if you get so much honor it can become 2 or 3 story building.

That would save on lag and all that.

Housing would deffiantely be a bonus, but it's not a "must" for me to play WoW.  DAoC didn't add housing until later on after release, and I know for a fact Blizzard plans to add many things post release.  I am very impressed with the game as of the stress test, I continue to look forward to the new things that are always being added.  I havn't read much about the Battlegrounds, I just hope they take some tips from Mythic and what they have done with PvP...DAoC=the best PvP system IMO.  I would also like to see the economy thrive and be as successful as it is in DAoC as well.  However, these things took time to be added, so I expect the same for WoW! :)

Most games have gone one of two ways.  First, there's the SWG way, which has houses spread out all over the game world.  I don't care for this because it just destroys the landscape.  Vast unexplored reaches become one huge trailer park.  Then there's the DAoC method: create huge, housing-only zones.  This also stinks because the housing feels a million miles away from anything else in the game.  It draws players away from population centers and the community decays.

According to rumor, WoW is going to have some kind of instanced housing that's connected to the large cities (Stormwind, Undercity, etc).  I'm not too worried - in almost every case, I've found in-game housing to be more trouble than it's worth.  I'm just thrilled that Blizzard chose not to tie their player-to-player sales economy to housing.  Searching through a forest of (mostly empty) house vendors is not my idea of fun.

I'm very much looking forward to Battlegrounds though.  I won't need a house because I'm planning on living there.  From what I've been reading, they sound like DAoC's lower-level battlegrounds without all the downtime and the level caps.  Just the thought of that makes me all squiggly insode.
