Warhammer is a shell of a game :(

You can break down WaR into 3 major parts...PvE,RvR, and scenarios...out of those 3 they get 1 right, 1 meh and 1 really boring. how can this be considered a A+ title?

RVR: many many RvR areas are complete ghost towns on my full server "Slyvania". When they do happen they are *ok* sadly most keeps change hands during the wee hours of the morning/night. on *any* server look at your map during prime time most locations stay uncontrolled. and honestly nobody cares?

Scenarios: well these are fun, some are great some kinda suck but on the whole my best times in war were made in these.

PVE: basic very very basic. PQ's get really really bland as you move on. chances are if you are running on a path and you see just a mob of monsters standing around you will know you just passed by another empty PQ. PQ's are sound great and work great in T1, as you move through T2 and T3 you see that they are just a poor mans dungeon. Get a big empty field spawn waves of monsters, rinse and repeat

so thats it, if you enjoy queuing into scernarios over and over and over you will like WaR. other than that there is nothing to this game...its fun but i can already see im not gonna make it through my first month.

sigh.....

That was my opinion too.  The biggest letdown was that Mythic couldn't 'control' world-pvp more.  Too many realms are unbalanced and there is really no motivation for the  low side to show up and get steamrolled.  Just que for scenarios where at least you are given even odds.

RvR is a big let down

Scenarios are 'blah'.. very much like the worst battlegrounds in WOW ( WSG and AB).  They are quick, painless and fun the first couple times you do them.. but they are not going to keep people entertained long term.

PVE is ok... the problem is it's signifcantly worse then WOW and LotRO.. which would be fine if this was a pvp game.. but currently its not really a pvp game either.

There simple needs to be more done to balance servers and to encourage world pvp.

yeah im sure, but im not flamming or trolling. Im just looking for a *fun* mmo to play.

But when i log into WaR since it launched this is what i have been doing.

    Grind Nordenwatch T1

    Grind Mournkain T2

    Grind Tor T3

with *maybe* a dash of RvR and some boring PQ's mixed in

You guys are judging RvR waaaaaaay to early. Waite till the majority of players hit 40 + and start making alts.

Everyone playing is doing nothing but exploring the game, checking/feeling out classes, and leveling. Things will start to happen later, when people make alts and groups speficialy for RvR, start using tatics, and the guild systems ETC...

If you are already considering the game as  grind this early..then you cannot enjoy it obviously.  Grind is a term used when a player doesnt enjoy their time playing an MMO at all. Every MMO out there has a "grind" to it depending on the person and their psyche.  Find out what you want in an MMO first...once you figgure that out post it and get a suggestion from other players...try out the games and see if they have what you want in it.  Are the PQ's boring? No.  Are we grinding SC's to level? Some are...I know i play them...but cant say its a grind for me because I have alot of fun playign with my guild and friends.  Open RVR sucky?  Well the game is still new and most players are still leveling up and enjoying the game for its quests/lore.  Since the game offers so much no one is in a rush to level.

I suggest you find some friends online (not trying to insult here) and start grouping up together for everything the game has to offer.

If my suggestion doesnt help for WAR then I think you should post what your looking for in an MMO..so far i can tell you that WAR offers alot more then any other MMO so far in the market at launch.  Only great things to come.  But if it isnt the game for you. I wish you good luck.

P.S. Also check out AION: Tower of Eternity.

so everyone so far is skipping the RvR in T1.T2,and T3 but yet somehow know T4 is gonna be fun?

i agree in T4 players are *pushed* more to RvR because if they dont they will never see king sieges.

However im inching my way to lv 27...and its getting tough i log in do as many ToR runs i can stand and log off...thats my entire day in WaR.

while im waiting for games to pop i do a PQ, if im already maxed for that chapter i twiddle my thumbs because getting 1750xp for a quest at that level with all the running i have to do is laughable.

i just dont see how im going to keep this up to even *SEE* lv 40

How long are you guys gonna keep saying this for? Another week? A Month? A year?

It's been released for nearly a month now, that's more than enough time for people to get a feel for the game.

    Endgame is here.

Telling people to wait does not cut it anymore.

Yeah, I agree. I think this game is a blast right now. I'm not sure if you guys are guilded or not, but we don't seem to find a lack of World PvP on Averheim. Once the largest part of a faction levels outside a Tier the World PvP can drop off, but up until then, the RvR is pretty intense.

I also like Scenarios as a break, and so far I've enjoyed them all. I think this game is fun, so maybe if you think it's boring this is not the right game for you? I know that probably sucks to hear since there's not alot to choose from if you've been following MMO's for a while, but I think the game is pretty great.

    I agree with you Kazson.

This game needed more Shadowbane and less World of Warcraft.

They are very much like the worse battlegrounds of WoW.  It's like they tried to make them annoying and stupid on purpose just to get people to do World PvP.  I wouldn't go so far to say that the PvE is ok.  The PvE in this game is pretty rotten, at least for a Healer archetype.  They just expect you to do way, way too much of it to get anywhere.

This is an MMO, and it launched 2 weeks ago, MMO's are games that usually require a very long period of time to level.. and your judging endgame based on 2 weeks?  Not even some of the Hardcore gamers are 40 yet...sure some are but not all of them.. Lets not forget the Casual players which outweigh the number of Hardcore players. Telling people to wait is the truth, and if it doesnt cut it for them good. Let them leave.  I dont want to play with people who are just going to play to get to level cap.  I prefer to play with gamers that appreciate the entire game...not just the end game. If you want to focus on Endgame go play WoW...oh wait thats right end game for wow only lasts for a year..and then when the level cap changes the end game changes again.  Pfft...i guess MMO's are just not for you buddy.  Oh Well consoles are ---------------------------> that way

IMO scenarios contribute greatly to the lack of pop for both open RvR and PQs. Lots of people just hang at the warcamps and live in the scenarios. The biggest issue though is that most people are still in T1-2 and there simply isn't enough people in T3-4 to get things done. Unless you're in a decent-sized guild that plays together alot, you're going to be hard pressed to find enough people to get things done. So either join a guild, wait for the masses to catch up or expect to skip a lot of content and be bored.

But judging by your sig youre only lv 13 and the game is pretty fun around that time...once you hit the brick wall that is lv 27 you might start to agree with a couple of my points

Sry to inform you that warbands are needed to take over a keeps. I know its soooo  hard to see keeps uncontrolled in working days/hours. I can live with that, i enjoy RVR at nights

you are a liar if u say that pq's is just about killing mobs. Most of the T2 pq's are just GREAT. The ones i did on the shadowlands for example had hard bosses, fights with 10 friendly npc's helping your group against an enemy army etc. Its ok  you decided to go to your previous mmorpg b4 reaching lvl10 on war, go lie to your next mmorpg forum now.

I agree with you too Kazson.

It's just hard for some people to admit the MMO they put so much hope as being the WoW-Killer or The-begin-of-a-new-generation will not be that great.

It's a good game but it doesn't deserve the "Revolutionary PvP MMO" title.

It will just be another average MMO on the market to compete with Lotro/Vanguard/AoC/CoX.

  • Balthaazar1Balthaazar1 Member Posts: 531

You seem to be on a low population server, for that misfortune I am terribly sorry.. however, your points are just bullshit really. I took part in even a tier 2 siege and it was incredible, fire balls flying from the ramparts from renagade wizards looking to send us packing, boiling oil poured from the top of the gate where I sent darke energies to it and the echos of that impact shook the order where they stood, hitting them as well as the pot. standing near a huge ram and making it tear downt he door, then rushing in slaughtering countless defenders. I think that it was pretty damn cool.

The three major points you mentioned, are far more fun when combined, you can do whatever you want in that sense depending on your mood. It's not any one of them that makes the game great, but the flow of all those features together that make it have lasting entertainment value. Is it a deep exploration pve game with long journeys and epic quests? No, not yet anyway, its just released. The Warhammer world is huge, and we should be seeing it expand with expansions quite remarkably. Each zone of Warhammer is bigger than the last, that makes it truely a great experience for me.

I see the lasting appeal in this game only if you like what you do in the game to begin with. It's endlessly fun, if you're hooked, you're hooked. I expect to enjoy this for many years to come.

First no one from Mythic has ever claimed WAR to be a WoW killer.

Second, they stated that the game is Evolutionary not Revolutionary

Third,it's just another average comment by another average player.

Looks like you and OP have been grinding Scenarios WoW style and now you are complaining.Instead why not help to retake Keeps when they are captured by the enemy? This is what we do,go in the Alliance channel and ask if we can build a Warband to recapture the keep.It will not surprise me if your Capital city is still low in Rank.Go there and do the Errands to level your city,go for the Sewers quests,Kill Skavens hidden in Barrels in the city.Help Witch Hunters fight Corruption in the city, there are so much things to do.

If you are not happy with the game it's ok, may be your salvaton will hit the shelves in November but I doubt that by January you and your kind will be complaining again then it will Aion, then it wll be 38 studios game

Same I feel like this was a waste, usally I last longer then what I did in WAR.  I does a few things right, not enough for it to stand out in my books.  Honestly if the combat and whole pace of the game was quicker, I most likely would  have hung in for a few more weeks.
