Dude your trippin nothing will get you heart pounding like some good pvp in a mmorg and it also adds alot more options in a game. Eq2 is an awsome game and if they add pvp server and some good pvp along with it then Eq2 will be at the top for sure but i know Pve is alot less stressfull and also fun I just hope that they make a pvp server and start working on it soon. Im gonna get Eq2 over WoWcuz i hate how wow looks and  i dont like the quest system even thought it has pvp but the game im looking forward to is Mourning but i will get Eq2 before then.

PvP isn't the only one doing that. There have been some times during PvE that has gotten my heart pounding, same when I've played PvP a few times. PvP isn't the only type of play that does it nor can one say it does it better for certain. Each person is different.

That is one of the best ideas ive heard in a long time lmao. It would work too , just give em pvp and ignore all there complaints about class balancing etc.

If memory serves that's all they did with Darktide in AC, and everyone seemed to enjoy it immensely. They pretty much did the same in EQ, they just added the half damage thing. If they just added an extra server with a flag that let goods, and evils attack each other, and left it at that, the PvP crowd would be happy. Just put up an popup that says Sold as is, and tell everyone that that's how it is.

Where you run into problems is non-PvP people going to a PvP server, getting their ass handed back to them, and then running to the Official forums to cry, bitch and moan about it(sadly, some people in the PvP community are the same way). If those people were just ignored

You guys are really missing the point here.

It's not an issue that they can't do it... It's a matter of not wanting to spoil the reputation of the game for not having balanced the classes in the first place.

Imagine this scenario: Let's assume for a moment that the PvE classes are 100% balanced on release. Let's say that SoE then opened a single PvP server and flagged players for PvP (in whatever capacity - city allegiance, races, etc - the exact mechanics of how it will work are not important.) Here's what would happen:

During the first few months of the game, as a few hundred people level their characters up to their final class changes, the balancing problems would quickly become apparent. Across hundreds of forums, discussions begin popping up about which classes are the most powerful. Class X is generally agreed upon as being the most uber, player ganking class in the game. Classes Y and Z are determined to be the second-best. Everyone else falls short by comparison.

Here's where the problems come in: As these discussions rage out of control on the FoH website, the Safehouse, and all of the other uber-peeps hangouts, a fair amount of bleed-over begins to pollute other forums, reviews of the game, etc. Players begin to feel that since they are not X, Y, or Z, that their characters are inferior. Because (from a very narrow point of view) X, Y, and Z are indeed the most uber. Sooner or later, X, Y, and Z are seen as "too powerful" - and players start demanding upgrades to their "inferior" classes to compensate.

How does SoE handle this? Rather than giving players the necessary upgrades to these "inferior" classes to put the PvP game back into balance, SoE decides to NERF X, Y, and Z in both the PvP AND the PvE games. This causes an outrage in the PvE community - as X, Y, and Z are not over-powered in that game. Now the PvP game is somewhat balanced, but the PvE game is ruined for some people. For some, their love affair with Everquest 2 will end right there.

The sad truth is, this is not only a prediction, but it's a history lesson - this is EXACTLY what happened over the course of about 2 years in EQLive. I had 4 lvl 65 EQLive characters - TWO were nerfed so bad I stopped playing the game. This was in the name of "balance" - yet all they solved are issues that only affected 5% or so of the players who chose PvP servers. The other 95% of us got screwed.

And before someone says "but dueling/arenas/consensual PvP would be different" - don't be so sure. Allowing players to attack each other in any way, shape, or form creates a basis for comparison between them - and you get the same end result. Bitching, which leads to nerfing.

The REAL reason they aren't going to release PvP any time soon (if ever) is because they need to let the classes develop over time to avoid all of this from taking place. Take it from someone who has had their characters devastated by SoE nerfing - it will be MUCH MUCH better if they implement it very slowly and carefully.

STFU all PVE people. 95% players that got screwed lol. Where did that outrageous number pop out from? Your azz? You're obviously a dumbarse. When they nerfed characters on EQlive they did it in PVP only. Any nerfing of PVE balancing was strictly from PVE complaints. For instance, wizzy nuke and manaburn did same dmg vs. pve but did less dmg vs. PVP. Rangers AM3 did same dmg PVE but less dmg PVP. And clearly this forum was made for us PVP players to talk about it not being in EQ2 launch. Y'all act just like the WoW people comming into our forums talking mess. Don't worry! They will have pussy servers for y'all who can't handle pvp or don't want it. Case closed. We don't want your sorry arse in PVP anyways. Good point about the newbs comming to PVP servers then crying about it Coldmeat.

PVP just means extra content for us players who enjoy it. After lvl grinding for hours and farming for loot it gets repetitive. Then I go with a handful of my guildmates to raid the evil cities. Oooo the roleplaying! Fighting PVP is more challenging than some AI hack and slash or nuke and meditate. I got a question for y'all PVE players. What do you do after your maxed lvled and have gotten the gear you wanted? Fight the same Boss over and over? You could say the same thing to us PVPers but heck we can fight the same bosses you can PLUS thousands of other PVPers. And even huge PVP events like 20vs20 and so on.

I would like to see a a few PvP zones in the expansions. This way people that dont want to PvP can stay out and those that do can.  I don't think anyone should be forces to PvP. To many High level Players will go around killing new players just becouse they can.

In Lineage 2, when ever someone plans to leave game, they tend togo to the new player areas to PK. This happens alot. I think this is wrong.

EQ2 not having PvP in the game at release does not bother me one bit.

No amount of complaining is ever going to change the fact that PvP will not be a part of EQ2.  I'm glad it won't have PvP since I am more than happy with PvE.  I just wish others would accept SOE's decision and move on with their lives.

here, here! you won't stop the PvP people from complaining, even if you give them what they think they want. heh. personally, i'm glad they won't be playing because they'll no doubt start complaining about something else and be a very obnoxious person to group with. thanks sony, for weeding them out.

*edit* keeping in mind, that not 'all' pro-PvP people are complaining... just a lot of them to be really annoying on these boards image

This is another reason why I am leaning toward another upcoming mmorpg that has smartly implemented the PvP aspect of a mmorpg. . .further transending the "wack-a-mole" PvE grind and uneventful, predictable environment into one that has more actual player interaction and influence.  Having had beta tested EQII and this other game, I was able to experience both and the contribution that PvP offers over just a linear PvE one.
