Is WAR worth getting if you are a causal gamer?
I don't want to spend alot of time each week, or each night playing the game. I don't mind spending 2-3 hours every few nights and on the weekends. What I want to know is: is if that will be enough time spent in the game to get anywhere.
Thank you for your answers.

You'll get no further than you would in any other game where you play for only a couple of hours a week.
If u like pvp try it, if you dont care for pvp skip it, its basiclly a stript down wow w/ crappy pve and better pvp
2-3 hours aday is plenty! im Rank 14 now and Renown 11 , and i started on the 18th and i only play a few hours aday ... and when u think theres already Rank40's Running around (Max Rank Lv) and its only been out for 18days so yeah causal is a big YES!
No, it takes for ever to level. If you want to be 40 by next year, you need to sink at least 4 hours a day into the game.
Level 15 here. I play casual only, am having tons of fun and have progressed very well so far. I think this is one of the most casual friendly MMOs i have yet to play. Heck I played Lineage 2 casually and made it to lvl 61 playing mainly solo.
This is the best combo of pvp and pve of any MMO to date, IMO.
Take the Hecatomb TCG What Is Your Doom? quiz.
I'm a solo player, few hours a day/every other day. Things have been going fairly smoothly for me so far.

One of the best things with WAR is the open parties and public quests. meaning you don't have to wander around spamming LFG everywhere, simply press a button and see parties in your area.
Public quests are large PvE events anyone can take place in that certain area.
If you also don't want to join an RvR raid and go through the long keep sieges, you can just hit the scenario button and instantly teleport to a WoW-ish BG
If quick and easy gameplay without much community chat is fine with you, then WAR might fit the bill. WAR is certainiy a game you can log onto for a couple of hours or even less, and still accomplish something.
I'd say this is a VERY strong game for casual players. A lot like WOW at release, really, in terms of content balance - that is, very casual friendly, and nowhere near enough content to keep hardcore players interested for the long run.
Of course, that's what expansions and content patches are for, and Mythic has a lot of experience in that area, so I think we'll see them handle that end OK too.
But being able to pop in and get a scenario running in under 5 minutes, where the scenario only takes 10-15 minutes, means you can get a nice pvp bout done in 15-20 minutes - very nice for the casual player. Questing is much the same as WOW, too, with short, easy to handle bite sized quests.

Ok I shell get this game!
I also would like to know how RVR servers are? I have played PvP servers on WoW, is it the same as that?
Open RvR is what I play on. You can basically be attacked anywhere anytime as opposed to RVR only pvp areas. Pick the one that fits your style.
Thank you
Please do us all a favour and think befor you post again.
Just make sure you pick a good casual guild. My guild was advertised as being for both casual & hardcore players before release, underwent a leadership change the day after release, and has now become the hardest of hardcore. I saw 27 people booted just the night before last. The total given the axe or pressured to quit is now around 200, and rumor has it that anyone under level 20 is going to be cut today. I'm 19, so I suppose I could make it if I really wanted to. But it's a drag having your play style being dictated to you by fanatics.
war fits the casual players and/or the hardcore.
take your pick.. game pleases both.
Kind of sounds like you were in a zerg guild. Leaving tem would likely only increase your enjoyment of the game.
imo yes, easy to start, ui is clear, quests are not too hard, so if you wanna play few hours a week, hang with friends and do some quests/pq than definatelly. go to core server and stay away from pvp zones, unless you want some pvp.
T3 is not really casual friendly in my honest opinion.
To be honest War is properly the most causal friendly MMO ever!
1) there have been made an big effort into being able to play and have fun both in PvE and PvP even if you only have 20 minutes to play in! with public quests, scenarios, and even at times open world rvr just there to jump into. Add then the feature of open partys with a list of all groups nearby , what they are doing and where, even the traveling time to get there you get!
This come down too very little waisted time in "looking for a group"
2) the tome of knowledge, the quest tracking, the public quest rewards, the bolstering of ranks in RvR and even the anti griefing (chicken) make it a lot more easy to be a causual hobby player against the hardcore player, that knows every thing about how to powergame . Alot of things have been done, and very well done to ensure that the bridge is not so big, from noob to nerd, that it hurts the fun! you would not see twinks that 1 hit kills noobs here
Simply put nomatter if you explore, do quest or pq, or fight in open world RvR or in scenarios you are doing fine, improving you character and are able to contribute to the war!
3)I think Mythic have done well inmaking a game world where low level play is not just something you should get over. To get to the real fun. Its actual posible to enjoy the journey here , reading the tome eksploring the maps and having great fun , without feeling that you are helpless behind!
it might actual be alot better game for the causuals than for the hardcore gamers!
Well, I work 8-2 hours a day 6 days a wekk and this has been the best casual MMO I have played to date.
The design of the game took out most of the time sinks in other games, wether travelling or looking for groups.
I am rank 17 renown rank 11 and have little over 40 hours in the character, this is with the head start. (Had a day off and went nuts on the game in there too heh) but they really took out all the BS in having to travel everywhere to accomplish things.
Hope you enjoy the game!
What a horrible experience. =( Stuff like that gives guilds a bad name, I am sorry you ran into that. Think on the bright side though: with behaviors like that, the members all know that they are Just A Number, and that the leadership only cares about them as long as they are producing for the guild. Guilds like that don't last very long.
I've found my method - to selectively recruit only a few people at a time, and to look for new members based on who the player is, rather than the character - has worked rather well. We're heading into our 9th year as a guild, so it seems to be working!

Actually I think WAR is a good game for a casual gamer. Making the obvious comparison with WoW, you can do more in WAR in less time than in WoW. There are more ways to gain xp too.
One of the best casual mmo in terms of RvR.
You dont need to grind untill endgame, then grind to get the best gears to enjoy all aspects of the game.
As far as content goes, there is a ton of content for any hardcore gamer, despite what some people will say.
There is so much PVE content that there is no way you could possible touch all of it playing one character, i would bet that even with 3 characters you still would have tons of content unexplored.
So in warhammer you wont need to suffer though weeks or months of grind in order to get to the good stuff.
Getting to rank 40 is very grindy, and that isn't even the real grind! The real grind begins at 40 when you start grinding for Renown Rank 80.
That said, I see no problem with you playing it casually. Just don't expect any meaningful progress at a decent speed after you reach tier 3.
