I am not trying to beat the game down, I rather enjoy it. I am holding WoW in one hand, and trying to smash WAR's PVP into, it doesn't work
I say this because I think WAR will ultimately die off just because it relies soooo heavily on lots of people playing it, but it already seems like there is a steady decline in users.
Last weekend half the servers had queues, and there were only 5 servers that had low poplulation. ATM that I am posting this 8:30, Saturday, only one server has a queue and there are many more low pop servers.
Am I missing something or did people just suddenly stop playing it. Xfire numbers seem to be down too.

Take the Hecatomb TCG What Is Your Doom? quiz.
No, it won't. But I, and I'm sure others, are probably going to reroll on higher pop servers...after over 24 hours /played...
I really just don't want to go back to square one but it looks like I might have to.
This is grim news. I, for one, will never play until I can try it via trial play (probably released next year or so after the WotLK expansion has been out a bit), but all I am reading claims that the population of the servers and the balance of order v destro drives the games.
Wow, you would think that would have been thought through more lol. In a post-WoW mmo you will NEVER be able to count on server population and perfect population balances.
Figures. Lesson learned for the next MMO i guess.
If u r looking for higher population go for higher populated server. WAR will do just fine with current population and lower than this one.

Come to the Volkmar Server and roll Order, we can use some more
Shoot me a in game tell if you ever need anything at all..
However, if you roll Destruction, I will see you at my feet. hehe
I think the population requirements may be this games downfall, Right now i have guys on 2 servers 1 i have to wait 30min to play , and the other is a dead zone! I'm already tired of starting over!
most people wont play until a trial is released.
Despite what people not enjoying the game are trying to make people believe the game doing very well. The xfirre numbers are very consistent still. They have been staying around the 2million hour mark for over a week.Could it be possible with the new patch and fix of the scenariolag and allot of the performance problems they raised server caps?I dont know but my server is still booming with life.
Darkfall - Sick
Earthrise - Sick
On my server we need more Order were at Med usually but destruction is pretty much always at high.
Ive noticed this community seems to not care for WAR or WoW.But believe it or not this site doesnt account for the entire MMO community. It seems most people on this site despise WoW but somehow it still manages to barely stay afloat with the few subs it has left....

Every MMO dies eventually. Those associated with EA usually die sooner that later
Mythic released two dozen servers as a marketing ploy. 'look, we expect this many people!'
When they knew dam well the servers wouldn't fill and many would remain empty.
It's just going to get worse.
I don't think it was a marketing ploy. I think it was a "better safe than sorry" thing.

I live to fight, and fight to live.
Everyone always cries doom. So overdramatic. The game is healthy and actually really fun. DAoC depends a lot of population and it's still alive and might I add quite fun as well so don't waste your time with cries of doom.
"God, please help us sinful children of Ivalice.."
Another typical MMORPG.com post.
While there are thousands and thousands of players, having fun and playing the game, random people are claiming how bad and doomed it is on a website that maybe 10% of the MMORPG population worldwide know about.
Why can't people just stop with their "This game will die soon" and "this game sucks don't buy it" (lack of grammar included too in silly titles).
If all these so-called issues and concerns rests so heavily upon people's shoulders, move on and play another game. There is no reason for others to follow in your footsteps based on your point of view.
As for the "original" server population issue stated.
1) They raised caps on both US / EU servers meaning they won't strike as "Full" anymore.
2) The above also means that what showed as Med before can very well show as Low now, etc.
3) WAR is not in "decline" nor is it's users.
Have a nice day.
don't get the OP the game is growing and at a very decent rate. Mythic continues to liscen to what the players want and makes changes. They fix bugs pretty fast and the game runs great. The only ones who bash the game either hate pvp or are wow players and well they pretty much bash anything that isnt made by blizzard
I think you fail to understand that mythic/EA have 2 games with 100K + users still subscribed and they wher both released in 1996 and 1997.
One of these games that is still staning strong, DAoC is the same frame work as warhammer, RvR based.
So, as much as you hope for warhammer will fail, i honestly beleive that those who really like the rvr are here to stay. SUre it might not top 10mil subscriptions worldwide, but im sure it will be here lto stay, just like DAoC is still up and running since 1996 and just like UO is still up and running sice 1997(i think).
Warhammer was never trying to beat WOW's pop levels; Mythic has said that from the start. We know that. This was wise of them, not because WOW is so much a better game, but because WOW was one of those wierd, unpredictable "mega-hits" we see once in a while. You simply cannot manufacture that level of success - it just HAPPENS, sometimes.
As for the servers and population, remember that this is a new release? There is ALWAYS a massive spike in concurrency for the first 2-3 weeks of a game being out, which then gradually tapers off over the month or so following that rush. Most games start off with peak concurrencies as high as 50% of their userbase! And they drop down to 10% or so (peak concurrency). WAR is past that first rush, and is moving into the "stable mode" that every game enters.
Totally normal. In fact, WOW did the same thing, with many servers having ENORMOUS queues for the first week or two, and then by the end of week three no server ever had another queue. That wasn't because they suddenly let more users in - it is because people toned down their playing hours, and got back to their real lives instead of spending quite as much time in the game.
Happens in EVERY major MMO. Nothing new, and certainly nothing to worry about.

Alot of people who have reached Tier 4 are quiting. Why? Because Tier 4 resets. You only have 1 hour to take the last fortress OR the entire Tier 4 campaign resets for ALL races. That includes keep posession and zone possession. Even if you raid the city it doesnt have ANY lasting effect except it will decreas enemy city rank/. Except for the ememy that que up for the city siege scenarios noone NOONE will even notice that thier city has been sieged.
I could go on how scenarios have killed world rvr below tier 4 but i wont. I will leave that to the MANY threads on other sites like warhammer aliance. Hell they didnt even implement ammo for bows or guns.
I think we're getting off topic talking about ammo for bows... But if you think arrows are the key to success for an MMO, why not also include sharpening stones as a key for a melee? And AC1 or UO style reagents for spellcasters? These sorts of things often end up being more hassle than they are useful, and their lack has very little impact except to make the game less frustrating for players.
Agree on scenarios vs world RvR. I think there should be some MUCH more serious bonuses and awards for success in the open RvR field. Players will always go where the reward for time committed is highest - and right now, that is scenarios for pvp. Although that's changing on Volkmar at least; the last few days we've seen major (50v50 or more) battles in multuple Tier 2 and Tier 3 sites every night... So there's movement in the open field RvR direction already, but that would be helped by improving the rewards for participating.
As for Tier 4... Honestly, anyone who is already Tier 4 isn't in Warhammer's target market anyway. Mythic targeted the same crowd as WOW did, the casual gamer. Much like we saw in WOW, a number of people are racing to top levels at breakneck speed - and just like in WOW, most of those will quit within a few months. Which is OK; they represent a miniscule minority anyway, much less than 5% of the total playerbase. Heck, right now most players are still tier 1 and 2! It'll be MONTHS before the largest group of players is in Tier 4.

Love it, two week or so into the game and people are already claiming it's dying lol.
I suspect that there has been a sudden outbreak of "wifeitus". You can only play so long before you partner spots this and suddenly you are knee deep in jobs. Sadly real life is aways intruding on our gameplay. That and work too. Of course, if you get your wife addicted to MMOs as well, like mine is, then you get to spend more time playing.
What puzzles me is that you have a load of threads complaining about waiting to get on, and another set complaining about lack of population. Obviously there is going to a bit a churn once the first months subscription is up, but any game that starts with such strong sales is definately going to be a success.
Again, what puzzles me is the amount of negative posting, here, and on other boards. The graphics are far better than many posters would have you believe. The game only lags and has performance issues on PCs that don't have the "right" spec. I built two £700 systems and there is no performance issues on them, and neither has crashed the client (once I tracked down and fixed a hardware memory issue on one of the PCs). Game play is fun (maybe a little to biased to scenario, but that just a bit of balancing need), the empire T1 PQ quest with a Chaos giant crashing through the trees and stomping the local priest into the ground is pure class. So far, I can get a level with a few hours play, so the grind is not too horrid (unlike LotR which appeared to reach new hights in torturing me to gain a level; and I did like that game).
...and I haven't seen a single spam for gold
everyone whos played the game has seen spam for gold your just trolling
This will not be a problem because when the popualtion reaches critical low on certain servers, they will be merged. I just hope Mythic merges a few soon, like within 3 months.
If anyone is claiming that its dying.. then ya I can't see saying anything like that.
Wifeitis? So you are saying that wives don't play? Everyone I know personally that is a couple play as a couple. I see you give the advice to get your wife addicted.. I'm just saying this sounds more like a way to brush it off rather than actually say yes people aren't logging in.
I will say it suprises me that it has lost enough people on high pop servers to notice... which is very odd for a new game. Granted school etc has started in many areas but.. this is a new game.. and personally having played MMO's from UO on... this does suprise me.
You have or had threads about waiting because there was a portion of the servers which were "full". That was more due to being a CE or SE server than anything... half of the list has never been over med/med..
and that I do find odd again.. for a new game with 1.5 million copies shipped and 500,000 logged on... it seems very ... empty.
As to gold spam tho I cut that part out... if you are on a populated server and don't get it then you are already using "hidden" on your social settings.
I can make a new character and have a spam waiting for me when the scream loads on my high/high server. My med/med server you have enough time to go hidden before they start.
It could just be the time of year and what is going on.. economy.. school...college
What seems odd is the 500,000 logged on claim by EA... because it just doesn't feel like it. (that's the part that is throwing me off... I don't doubt they have a good amount of subscriptions... just how the game feels probably due to scenarios).
Perhaps there was an excitement surge. I doubt lower populations reflect very heavily subscriiption numbers. But its becoming less new and more scheduale, atleast in my case.
