When will in-game chat ban be lifted?

So I have been playing since the pre order beta and havent seen anyone talk in chat yet.  When is Mythic gonna lift the ban on general chat so we can all enjoy a good conversation while leveling?

Everyone expects chat to come to them. Start a conversation and you might be surprised. Otherwise, enjoy the quiet away from Chuck Norris jokes and complaints about how every one's career is underpowered / overpowered.

Ha I cant tell if the "chat ban" thing is sarcasm or not. If not.....there is no chat ban...you just type /1 to talk in general. People just arent very talkative in this game, too much to do i guess.

I kept telling you guys that the chat interface was the reason why the game was so quiet... it didn't have a damn thing to do with being beta. It is just awful.

What is worse is that I have a horrible feeling that the general chat zones are actually tiny little slivers, that Chrace-Charge is actually a totally different channel than Chrace-Camp or Chrace-PQ. As in there isn't actually a 'real' general chat channel for the tier, or even half of the tier. Please someone, tell me that I'm wrong about that?

They have notified that they will upgrade the chat and rework it. They are currently asking for ideas and what people want with the chat system.

    Just hold on :P

Chat system needs to be totally redone.  I havent talked to one single person in game and I been playing since open beta.  I have seen a few emo rages during a scenario bout need/greed, but thats it lol.

People are talking more, but still not enough.  This game needs:

1-  LArge general chat for each zone.

2- A rally master in the capital city that is easy to find.  Capital city also needs an eaasy to access general chat.  Then people will start grouping up.

3-  Clearer messages when a key point is under attack.  But if the allience chat becomes a little more accessable, then this wont be needed.

On skull throne i havnt seen anyone talk since the first day 1 time and that was it.   Only people who talk are those who are in guild.

I guess I just don't miss seeing random strangers complain or chatter aimlessly about random things.

If there was such a chat, I'd turn it off anyway, just be too annoying.  I generally have 20-40 friends online in my guild channel any given night anyway, so why would I need to listen to chat spam from other folks?  EVERY game I have seen with global chats, the darn stuff spins by too fast to read and play anyway.

If you want a good chat channel, my advice would be to find a good, active guild to join.  Or hang out in IRC channels and save yourself the $15 a month.  ;)

    Uh... um... Owyn? ...Hello?

Purposes of the general chat channel:

    Requesting assistance in PQ

Alerting the area of enemy players

    General Q@A

This is an mmorpg, you're going to have to interact and communicate with your server community (especially WAR). Being in a guild is part of the spirit of the game, but being in it at the exclusion of everything and anyone else isn't. Basically you and a Warhammer Yahoo! group are soloing the game and I don't know wtf the point of that is.

It's crap, it feels more and more like playing a single player game...

I'm on an Open RvR/RP Server and I never ever encountered the slightest bit of RP, or even emote, or talk, nothing. It's just mute people running around the block killing things.

Maybe it's just the flash coming from the "communication above all"-LotRO-RP Servers but I start to stop playing to actually do something that involves social interaction.

I don't know what is up with Chaos Waste server this week.  Last week they were popping with RvR and lots of communication.  Then it died down this week.  The only positive is that people are actually in the capital city now.  It's not dead there anymore.  To finish it off the capital needs a general chat tht is easy to use so people can start calling out for groups etc.

It probably IS something like that... I keep wanting to play on a good RP server, and keep having guildmates really prefer the mainstream ones. I think I have them almost convinced to try sometime soon, though. ;)

The problem is, general channels in non-RP servers end up looking like, well, a mess. Random people talking about random things in a stream of chat so fast it's scrolls by at lightning speed. I just don't feel like trying to parse that for pertinent data. I turned it off in L2, WOW, and AOC, because it was always the same garbage.

I can certainly see the value of having a communication tool for RvR defenses - if it was really used for that, anyway. Problem is enforcing that. In DAOC, we'd use alliance chats for that, and I suspect we'll see the same thing happen in WAR.

And there already IS an easy to use chat in the capitols...  Anyone who doesn't know how needs to learn to RTFM.  ;)
