I am amazed to see such a discrepancy between the apparently very good WAR rating and the TRUE PLAYERS rather negative opinions in forums (not only mmorpg.com forum).
I understood that commercial pressure and money/advertisement is the cause of false high game rating. A web site such as mmorpg.com will never have an interest in publishing a negative review on a good "ads" customer such as WAR.
Another proof of disinformation ? I was unable to publish a rating for WAR on mmorpg.com because you have to be level 100... what bullshit, anyone, any player should be able to give a rating. That's the only way to reflect the TRUE opinion of people without manipulation and censorship.
Comments
Replace TRUE PLAYERS with VOCAL MINORITY and there you have your answer.
You should check out metacritic. sitting at 88, with a user rating of 8.5.
Check xfire. Sitting at number 5 steadily.
And if anyone, any player was able to give a rating, you'd have people create a thousand accounts to spam a rating at 1 or 10. Trust me there are people that would do that.
The majority of the TRUE PLAYERS are playing the game, not spouting nonsense on the forums.
I dont' think you understand what "disinformation" means either. You're basically calling user opinions of the game after playing it or hearing about it "disinformation." So that means that every single review ever written about the game (there's like 15 at the moment) is "disinformation" according to you.

To the OP:
you mean that every website should allow people to create 'n' accounts to vent their frustation like you just did with your first post?
is this your 10th account spamming your negative view of war or the 30th one?
[ giving an example.. pretty sure you were well intentioned but there is people who will create 'n' accounts just for that. ]
All rating site are working on the same commercial model. So I do not trust "commercial medias" who all have a tendancy to biase the opinion in the direction of their interests.
And Yes I think anyone should be able to give his opinion. You do not have a better opinion than someone else because yo have posted 100000 messages on a forum...
You must not listen. If ANYONE can leave their opinion people would spam it with thousands of 1's, so then even the user rating wouldn't be accurate.
Also, mmorpg.com haven't even reviewed the game yet. What you're seeing is the "User Rating." If you check the user rating at metacritic it's 8.5. USERS are saying the game deserves an 8.5+ not commercial websites. (Though they're saying the same thing).
Disinformation means false information. What about the rating is false?
Are you saying people didn't actually rate the game 8.84? Because if you thumb through the user comments on the ratings section they're predominantly positive.

I live to fight, and fight to live.
last time i remember you only need like a rating of 10/100 to be able to rate a game. As stated earlier, forums are filled up with the vocal minority. Most people either do not know of these forums, or do not care about posting on forums.
You do not understand or maybe you are those paid (for reacting so fast) to censor.
Don't you understand simply that anyone should be able to give his opinion? And no it will not spam forums. Have you ever had a statistic class at school to understand what is a representative list of voters ? never heard that in an election we say only the top whatever will vote otherwise it will create spam.
And i do not agree with your non factual, non measured idea of vocal minority. Best proof is that it is probably my first post in a forul since many years.
Anyhow this does not change the FACT that WAR is over rated because of COMMERCIAL reasons.
Well in the US we use an electoral college system for voting in the presidential elections. I would say thats a kin to saying only the "top whatever" are allowed to vote. Because in the end, its what the people with the electoral votes end up doing with their votes. The person with the popular vote can lose by a large margine.
All you in the US, I'm am NOT telling you not to vote. By all means get out there and cast your vote! It is very important. It lets the people who do have a say, know who you want in office. Usually the people with the electoral votes end up siding with the popular vote. So your votes DO count.

As soon as you say "TRUE PLAYERS" in caps you come across as a total creep. Everything else you might or might not be trying to communicate kinda dissapears.
I really like WAR, I guess that means that I'am not a "TRUE PLAYER", damn it.

Okay, phew, I wasn't the only one thinking that.
I was there aswell... this thread gave me the jeebies...
but back on topic... your surprised the site has in place a system to stop rating and account spam? that just doesnt even make sense
So seriously then, how would you run it?
1. Every major MMO release shoots to no.1 on the rankings because of the hype/interest in the game initially. Give it a bit of time and it will settle to its natural position. Its been the same story for years.
2. Just think about your last paragraph for a minute. You think the way to have games rated fairly is to allow every fanboy/hater to create unlimited alt accounts and rate games dozens of times? The 100 rank allows only genuine accounts to vote.
There are some negative opinions aorund the forums, but there is 1 thread title that I have yet to see.... "Missing Content". As far as I can tell everything the Devs said would be in is there. That is in stark contrast to other major releases I have played in recent times.
Negative opinions about the game are fair enough and Im happy to discuss those with people, but conspiracy theories are just lame.
Right. You're post is pure hate. You don't give one reason why you don't like the game., or why the game is overrated Probably, because its A) bogus will show that you're a PvE addict.
Every post complaing about WAR on here talks about bugs(none of which I have seen, so it must be fairly rare), lack of pve raiding(there is pvp raiding), or... well, that's the two major complaints. If you don't like pve, fine. Here's an idea; don't go buy a game that everyone, including the devs, were saying there is little to no pve raids.
Well, let's start at the beginning.
That little score you see is "User Rating" Which means players. It has not been officially reviewed by the site yet. So yes, it is the combinations of all "true players". Strike 1
They have published "negative" ratings, just look at SWG. They just updated theswcore after it running 5 years. As for money affecting the scores/opinions, that accusation has been running around for a while and yours holds as little water as it did before, less because they have not scored the game yet. Strike 2
Third, I have never been at "rating 100" and I was able to put my opinion in on several games I have experience here. So this comment is false. I think it's because you have not posted here at all. THAT measure prevents multiple account spamming. If you were a more active user of this website, then you might have gained the PRIVLIDGES we all enjoy here. Strike 3.
I hope you know baseball and know what that means.
Have a nice day
Just as a point of note, there are PvE raids within the game. They have hidden 24 lairs within the games which are PvE raids, ranging from just 2-3 people to full Warbands needed. Each pairing has 8 hidden throughout their zones..
Have a good day
There are only two metrics that are really independant of 'hype'.
Where do players spend their time?
Xfire shows Warhammer falling about 10% week over week. There has not been an increase in server load since the first launch. There are just as many med/med servers and less servers that are full as there was the first week.
Are new people buying the game?
Amazon and others show Warhammer falling out of the top 20 in game sales already. This is even a faster plunge than AOC which was able to maintain a top 10 rating for 3 weeks. And in comparison to WOW which has multiple boxes in the top 20 four years after launch.
Frankly, MMORPG.com has become a "Bitch Board" rather than providing something useful to the commmunity. Probably better moderation woulld be a good thing.
Why is it that, as a culture, we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands? ~Ernest Gaines
I've been around here for a long while, and I generally read the forums for a good laugh. Once in a rare while there's something worthy (to me) to post about. I just wanted to say that I like PvE first and PvP second, and I love this game so far. So whoever commented about PvE freaks not liking this game has it wrong too. There's plenty of PvE fun in this game.
As for the OP, go back to school to learn more about statistics. Statistics only mean something when the population holds a meaningful value. Allowing any Tom, Dick, and Harry to vote in an arena that is full of elitism (video games - my game rul3z, yur game sukz) is just pointless and yields no valid data. The vote becomes simply "Yes" or "No", voiding out any true voter that might give a vote near the top or near the bottom.
I really enjoy WAR too. I guess I'm not a "TRUE PLAYER" either. Though I am deeply offended by your sig. As a greenskin I must protest at your remark to kill us all.
I have been saying this since forever, sad thing is folks come here and bash a game to oblivion and even when the game improves these hateful posts never go away.
that said i feel that war is a good game , not a wow killer but who knows give them 4 yrs and it just might be if they can improve the pve side of things.
I think its great a game maker finally did pvp first and pve second.
that said i find the game just dont have it for me personally and im not sure why, fun to play but just not addicting . guess that cant be all bad.
Some lead and some follow I prefer to stand beside!
See, I went looking at this "Are people buying this game" fact.
I filtered to PC games (since it can only be played on the PC) And it's still 4th for regular edition, 7th for Collector's edition, with 2 pre-orders ahead of normal, 3 of collector's editions. Not too shabby.
Now, if it is filtered to just games, I looked at the 34 ahead of warhammer. 10 pre-orders, 15 are hardware packages. Only 8 released games are actually outselling WAR as of right now. (3 of them being Force Unleashed for the 3 systems. Kick a@@ game, just way too short)
So yes, being that it is the 2nd place PC game being sold that is currently released, new people are definitly buying it.
Have a good day
I am so sick of these whiners complaining about WAR. If you dont like, dont play and STFU. And the whole TRUE PLAYERS bit, dude get a life. There's no such thing as TRUE PLAYERS, just players.
Did you even bother checking Xfire before you spouted this??? Check it out:

You'll see pretty clearly that the numbers there peaked on Sept 20+21, then have risen and fallen based on the day of the week ever since (dipping on weekdays, rising again on weekends). Not that Xfire is the be-all of statistics, but it DOES show player minutes about the same on October 4th as they were on September 20th, two days after launch.
And Warhammer is still 4th on Amazon, only behind WOW's new expansion (12 million players...uh, yeah, it wins), Spore (most anticipated computer game of this decade), and a Nancy Drew game (OK, don't understand that one at all...). Anyway, 4th place is still pretty high on the sales charts. Certainly not "falling out of the top 20".
Hate it when people stoop to making fraudulent claims to make their point. On the plus side, I guess people have decided they need to make bad stuff up about Warhammer, which doesn't shock me at all. So far I have been pleasantly surprised by the game.

hey there buddy well since 9/10 ppl really like and enjoy the game. Honestly, the rating is dead on for this game. Once again if you don't like the game fine its not for everyone but DON"T and i repeat DON"T make up false statements about a game to try and put in down
Well yes actually, my opinion carries more weight strictly because of my higher post count than yours.
Doesn't make it better, just of more importance.
