When you open Pimps online, it will have the WoW score that plays on the main screen on wow, only it will be made into a funky 70s porn type sound.

    Groovy.

Lydon I actualy like wow and blizzard but blizzard never seemed to do anything about the gold sellers and bots dont get banned as much as they should.Blizz are a company and thare aim is to make cash Im just saying it wouldent suprise me if they hand hands in bottin and gold selling. They have the funds to setup small companys as fronts to do this.Lich king is around the corner and they want publicity so this has come at a very nice time for them.

I was playing wow for 2 and half years before i quit and still think of going back now as it is a great game.Im not trolling just adding another view.

If you ask me they want to spend some of that cash on improving their detection methods. They banned me last month, accusing me of selling gold, despite the fact that no money had actually been transfered to another account? It would seem you get an auto ban for having 500+gold on a low level char?

They re-instanted me last week but not until they let my month sub run out. Well fook they, wouldn't give the thieving prats another penny, you'd have thought they had enough without having to resort to theft. Oh well WAR is a much more fun game so no loss.

blizzard doesnt need some bot program or publicity for money.... they have 7mil+ subscribers ...... 6 million USD to them is hardly that much when you compare it to their quarterly reports.

good... i hope the dirtbag is homeless. prob would've still been playing wow if it wasn't for the AV botters.

Well this was undoubtedly done more for the publicity than anything, and it may have an impact. I am all for banning cheaters when they are found, but I definitely disagree with there being any grounds for a lawsuit. Blizzard has a right to ban me if I cheat in their game, but I don't think they should be able to tell me what code I can run on my machine. The DMCA may disagree, but I disagree with the DMCA.

You're basically hacking Blizzard's servers when you bot/speed hack etc.

    Think again,

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Millennium_Copyright_Act

This is the act they're using in their next hearing and they probably can get much more than 6 million.

Though this still prob wont stop the botting problem (esp AV). Banning all those botters would be a loss of some serious dough.

Yeah I know all about the DMCA. It is a very bad piece of legislation, and it needs to be repealed. Where I live, in Canada, there is now an effort to push through a similar bill. Many of us are doing what we can to make sure it is defeated, but we're up against the corporate juggernaut here... so it won't be easy.

I dont know if it was stated prior...

But didnt this guy get a cease and desist from Blizz...then turned around and sued them?

If so I believe he could of kept the money and run.

    Can you say OOPS?

Even though I havent played MMOs in a while, I would still like to see all gold sellers/botters removed from all the games.

When I am playing, I wanna be going thru the same things to get items/money...vs knowing where to get the cheat codes and using RL money if I wanna do good.

Cheating is cool in single player games IMO if that is what you wanna do...it takes on another face when others are involved.

Gratz to Blizz on their win.

Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.

This was a smart move by Blizzard, Alot of people may say they're being greedy and just wanting money, and that isn't true. frankly 6 million isnt alot of money for Blizzard. But it is alot of money for small botting companies. This was done to show the other botting companies that blizzard is not going to put up with them, and i bet you alot of botting companies have closed their doors with the thought of a 6 million dollar lawsuit.

so i say. "Well played Blizzard, Well played"

you are crazy if you think stopping one bot program will change anything.

A quick cross check here.  Has anything happened to the price of wow gold since this happened?  That should tell you if gold sellers are hurt.

How come no one bothers to ask themselves...

If the game is so simple that a bot can play it, why should a human waste their time doing it?

Wow glider (and other bot programs) just remove the silly, tedious parts of the game that serve no purpose except to milk you of your subscription fee.

  • Lets face it. The guy knew what he was doing was attempting to cash in on lazy players and circumvent game play. He played with fire and knew it. And he got burnt.

I have no sympathy at all.

Those players knew what they were doing, too. They did pay for it, after all. I don't think there's a one of them that could legitimately claim that they didn't know it was against Blizzard's rules.

I wonder if there is any plan afoot to sue the people that are running private servers. Some of them receive money from their players, albeit on a voluntary basis ("donations"). Some of the larger servers are probably getting thousands of dollars per month.

This is something that we could say about virtually any mmo out there. It is a formula that I'd like to see challenged. Some have make steps to do just that. Eve, for example, got rid of leveling (though the skill grind takes months to get where you want to go).
