Its a good read, snippet:
Ten Ton Hammer: With other games making their debut and pushing out expansions, will Funcom make a marketing push to re-introduce the public to the much improved Age of Conan?
Craig: I am sure they will when the time is right, that’s more a question though for the marketing folks than for me. I certainly feel that we will be able to build on what is already a great game and provide new content and features for the players that will make them appreciate the world of King Conan all the more!
Ten Ton Hammer: Server merges have been brought up by the playerbase quite a bit, could we get an official word as to whether or not we may see low population servers brought together? Craig: We covered that a little in my latest letter to the community. We are looking at it, but the details are still being worked on, but we will be sure to let everyone know as soon as we have the details. It was addressed because we saw that many players were indeed asking the question, so we felt it was worth addressing. I wanted to acknowledge the community and let them know that while we don’t have the ‘immediate’ plans as it were it is being discussed and considered, and we will make sure we do what is right to ensure the best playing experience for our players! |
"Conflict I think is a key factor for a game world to maintain long term interest and the world created by Robert E Howard for the Conan universe just cries out for that conflict to be expanded upon and developed..."
Good Stuff, I think the new content coming in will stand a good chance of being good being built on the decent recent patches made to the game.

Only Daron Malakian can make his own shit stink good.
Only O'reily could spin something so far from the truth, while appearing to make such a logical point.
Whatever (bad or good), that's got to do with AOC (at this point) is no fault of this guy. That's the simple truth of the matter.
As for the interview itself, I felt the questions were a little weak. Overall I found nothing wrong with any of his answers. Then again there's no substance to judge him on outside of talking points so far.

This guy seems nice. He does, but you cannot change core mechanics in a game. Not with success anyway. He might polish the rough edges, but there's still that whole instancing issue..
I agree completely, however he has not stated such goals yet. His goal seems to be improving on what's there at this point. You're correct the instancing is an issue for a lot of people. I doubt you will see much change there (ever). The best you could hope for would be a slightly larger zone being introduced at some point (that's in a best case scenario, of course.)

That whole instancing issue That whole instancing issue is why AoC has KingKong graphics and are so good in that respect. If you want an explanaition let me know. I dig AoC instancing in fact, because it take you from one high activity zone to another without you having to run for hours between the various places.
The amount of instancing in AoC is indeed a personal preference. As to AoC instancing allowing for good graphics as well as being able to jump from 1 instance to another without having to travel through the world of Hyboria, without allowing you to actually see the other players in game, seems more like a single player game instead of a MMO.
But if that is what you like in a MMO then indeed, AOC is the game for you.

AoC seems to come up a bit short in the 2 "M"s, don't it? Almost doesn't require the "O".

Not to worry, there aren't enough people playing to have multiple instances in AoC anymore.
But that may change in the next 4 months when patch 3.0 comes out. They may have a bunch of folks that cancelled come back to play for a month or two.
haven't heard anything promising about server merges
probably wasn't designed like that, so it'll take a lotta work (as if they dont already have their hands full)
hope it comes good whenever itll come (this time, I'll be one of those people that will wait till it works rather than one of those people thats like "JUST GIVE ME THE DAMN GAME!" lol)
i had to learn the hard way
Just when you think you have all the answers, I change the questions.
