So I've heard from people that play AoC that they've had people from WAR coming back. I've also read posts on these forums from people who went to WAR from AoC and won't be going back to AoC. There's been a lot of back and forth. So as of this moment, which do you think is the better of the two games? I don't want this to turn into a flame fest, but please give reasons why you feel one is better than the other.

You forgot the "Both equally bad and boring" option
Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.
You must have missed the part where I say "I don't want to turn this into a flame fest"

I like WAR so far, but unless they add something more I won't be playing it for long. News from AoC has me looking at the game again, so I voted that one. But it could go both ways, or I might end up playing mostyl WoW again - or Ryzom.
Yah...WAR was fun for a while, but when endgame starts at level 12...you just don't feel like you've accomplished anything. It's a great game for casuals, but I like to work a little bit to reap my rewards. It's a fun game, but it just begins to get repetitive in my opinion.

I will be getting WAR soon and I hope its good.
I've gotten very little feed back on why you like one game over the other.
Come on guys! Let's discuss!

Wrong they are bad and boring and quite different ways.
But my vote is for AoC. Sure WAR has more stuff in it but the combat in WAR is just boring to me. While there is so little to do in AoC, when I am actually doing something it's alot of fun.
I will not play a game with a cash shop ever again. A dev job should be to make the game better not make me pay so it sucks less.

I'll add onto that with this: AoC can add more stuff to do, while WAR is pretty much stuck with a boring combat system. It would require a total overhaul of the combat system (which is a core mechanic) and then rebuild the foundation of the game.
Then again...AoC is stuck with the instancing because it's such a core part of the game. You will always have that instancing, because if you didn't it would be a massive lag fest. Maybe as computers become more advanced they can allow more people into an instance, but otherwise you are pretty much stuck with instancing for the rest of the games life.

For me it all boils down to the basics of the game.
AoC is HEAVILY instanced and that is foundation of the game, while WAR has various zones with a few instances.
If both companies were to totally revamp their game to add in very meaningful PvP,exciting combat, large quantity of low, mid, and high lvl PvE content as well as epic raiding encounters to which both games were equal in this aspect it would still boil down to the basic platform of one game being excessivly instanced and the other one not being near as instanced.
Is Instancing in a MMO bad? Not in the least but it needs to be done in moderation, otherwise it seems like you have a single player game with a small portion of MMO thrown into the mix.
The only other problem would be all the Lies and Deceit of FC when the game first launched and well into the 3 and 4 month mark. Also the heavy-handed nazi tactics of the moderators on the official AoC forums, running amuck with a banning stick, banning accounts and deleting threads without consequences.
It sounds like the FC is slowly getting better and more forthcoming with imformation as well as not trying to hide the truth from it's players. I attribute that to it's new management. It also seems like the forum moderators/Customer Service have gotten proper training on how to deal with paying customers and now the forums dont seem like a third world country being ruled by an evil dictator.
The problem is, FC has also lost the trust of over half a million players who have cancelled their subscriptions to the game. Is it easy to regain their trust? Hell no. It will take a large amount of begging and pleading as well as giving these old players what they want. Losing the trust of a customer is the absolutely worst thing a company can ever do and IF they ever were to regain that trust back(many will never trust FC again) it will take a long time and a lot of sacrifices by FC.
Personally, I would be willing to perhaps try AoC in maybe a yr or so, but only after FC can prove to me that they have changed their ways and that they are willing to put the player first, as well as developing the game to it's fullest potential instead of just throwing a game that was in its Alpha stages of testing into a pretty box, takiing everyones cash and saying that the game was ready to be released.
I will tell FC the same thing that I tell my own children....
If you try to lie to me then you are going to have to face the consequences. In this case the consequences are the 100's of thousands of ex-players rising up against FC and it's practices.

You know, I didn't notice any city or king raids going on in T2? Can you tell me where they are.
Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.
If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.
And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms

You know what I mean. Sieging is an important part of the game and by the time I was at the tier 3 zone...it just felt all the same. This is just my personal experience. I'm not saying that sieging wasn't fun...all I'm saying is it felt like "I've done this before, why would I want to continue to do the same thing over and over". I understand that city sieges are the ultimate goal, but that's the only thing in endgame that I have to look forward to. It very well may just be my style. I like to be given features a little at a time. Giving sieging at level 12 just gives me that "been there, done that" feeling. I want something to work towards, and if the only thing I have to look forward to is city sieging...well, so what? It's like taking a keep only bigger. I've done that already.
Just my personal opinion. I didn't mean to say that all endgame features start at level 12.

Could have had a 'Neither' option though.

But the point of this thread is to get responses of which one is better. Not whether both are bad.

The "I don't like any" option is to post in another thread and don't vote.
Better is the wrong word. I would say that the graphics of AoC is better but more demanding but the rest of the stuff is just about your own preferances, and that incledes the artstyle. And by graphics I mean how high the textures are, not the art.
Of all the AoC players I know that bought WAR and played AoC until WARs release everyone is back (is like 20 players). People who quited AoC earlier don't come back so much... Actually quite logical, the ones who liked AoC and tried WAR usually come back. The ones who didn't like AoC wont whatever they like WAR or not.
I prefer AoC over WAR and I prefer Guiness over Bud but that's just my taste, yours probably differs but that doesnt make Guiness better than Bud, just the beer I prefer.
And back to the top this thread goes.

It defeats the purpose of the poll when you have players who have played neither of the games, or only one of the games and not the other. You have AoC only players who won't vote for WAR, WAR only players that won't vote for AoC, and WoW players that will vote against WAR regardless.
Tossing in a "Neither" option would have been a great idea so that those have played neither can see the poll results without just making a random choice based on..... nothing.

Of course I chose WAR. I just like the overall playability of the game. I only played AoC for 3 hours on my friends account before he cancelled to see if I liked it.. and it wasn't anything to write home about...
Some would say the same about WAR, but I've had 2 entirely different experiences. Within the first hour of war I could already tell it was much faster paced.
So my list of reasons why WAR is better for me then AoC. Simply.. its PVPcentric... which is amazing because I hated PVP before WAR. I actually didn't plan on buying WAR at all, I preordered a copy for myself and a friend for his birthday. I bought him the copy outright and I just got the preorder. After the first hour of WAR I knew I was going to buy it -- The PVP keeps the game fresh for me from level 1. I can sit for hours playing different scenarios -- up to 6 in tier 3, and the bugs I've experienced are minimal. Since I've been playing retail I've only experienced 1 CTD.
I know that some people have more problems, but I don't see any of the enormous lag and glitching problems like I have with my first 3 hours of AoC.. plus I trust SOE more then I trust funcom... and I'm an SWG vet.

No I didn't read your response, because you didn't post the highlighted text that concerned me.
No failure to read anything here, just not interested in your opinion at the time.

Well I'm sorry that you came into my thread and saw something that you didn't like.
I can't please everyone. I just felt that your response to what I posted was extreme concidering that I explained why I felt that end game started at level 12.
