-exo-exo Member Posts: 564

Alright yall, i have a very very very big problem. me nor  my other buddies here are able to figure this out and i am seeking opinions and suggestions quickly. The computer i game on has been down for a bout 2 months now. Due to the sheer fact that i have through 2 graphics cards after my recent Nvidia 7600 has taken a nose dive and will not pull up a display on my screen...

I then was sent another graphics card fro ma buddy of mine in colorado to Texas , Geforce nvidia 7900 and STILL there is no picture nor display on my screen. I am very very very upset and all i want to do is play. All of the fans are working on my motherboard, the keyboard lights upand mouse when plugged into the motherboard. i do not understand what is wrong with this damn thing and why it won't show me an image.

is it my processor? is it the mother board itself? gah! :( help!

    OK -exo,

I have had this exact problem recently, I was at work (i work nights) there was a lightening storm. (gonna try to make this short). Wife forgot to unplug everything. Well there was a power surge.(not sure if this had any thing to do with it). Anyways next morning I was unable to get a display with monitor plugged into video port on graphic card.

Turned system off and back on bout 5 times and Voila! It worked! It worked just fine...till I shut down computer bout 2 days later and Bleah!. Same problem. nothing i did worked. Soooooooooooo(I actually am quite savy when it comes to computers). Well I unpluged my monitor from vid port on card and went back to the regular on board graphics port in back of computer(from the botherboard) It worked just fine from then on for about 2 months. I figured my video card was definately fried. Well lo and behold , to my utter shock and dissapointment. BAM!!! here we go again no display! (i never did check out that video card to see if it is actually fried or not :). Well off came the cover. I checked for loose connections everything seemed ok. After restarting system it finally came up and ran great until I shut down again. Well for about a month everytime i started computer i would have no disply but was always able to get it running after restarting(yes I had to hold power switch down to restart) ...

Well finally the problem got the better of me. Now I have no display whatsoever(Hmmm I betcha that dang video card is just fine). All fans run on card and motherboard. (Does any of this sound familiar?)lol.

My computer is just lying here on my little table like a dead thing(I almost weep everytime I look at the poor thing) I am now forced to play old mmorpg,s now on my old worn out E-Machine. (BTW Ryzom is a great game) Anyways here is our problem in a nutshell (whew!)........................

Our motherboards are fried!!! We should go to our manufactorers website and identify our exact motherboards. A new motherboard should be fairly inexpensive online ... Just do a search for the motherboard you need on google or first try www.newegg.com . We are prob gonna have to break down and buy a fresh copy of windows XP(or whatever operating system you use) because when windows detects a new motherboard It usually freaks out ) So if it freaks out that means a complete format of our hard drives and a fresh install of windows XP or Vista most likely..........Total cost for me is 70 bucks for MB and like 40-50 bucks for windows XP. (hope I don't have to buy a new Hard drive as well) ..............and that is if I do the work myself!!!

:)~                 Hope this helped (I tried to be as amusing as possible)    :)~

Or even with Ten ton hammer over Vent for AoC ... or heck for just being here. not to sure though. but maybe most definately one of them :) . lol been trying to find out if mmorpg.com was wanting me to do reviews for them on games *shrugs* who knows right? bleh :P either way i have to get that pc fixed! lol

Failed PCIE slot perhaps. Have you tried holding down the card with a little force pulling downward when you boot up, if it posts it should work. If so then the PCIE slot has probably been damaged or worn out over time, usually the connectors inside. They oxidize and corrode over time and the signal from one pin may not get through. If that does not work you probably have a broken PCIE slot, you will need a new board or repair.

Who let you in the VIP section?

i was thinking it was the PCIE slot as well, but i did try holding it down and still nothing. Also i know its not the monitor since i have four more here that i have used on it, and still no image, but the monitors work great wit hthe other computers :(

Hmmm I think the same thing is happening to me.

everything work fine then the screen and sound go blank.   Can't do a hard power down(hold power for 10 secs) and have to turn the power supply off.  Hard drive paging light goes on but can't hear the hard drive doing anything.   and the fans still work.

I thought I've managed to fry my video card as well, it worked fine after taking it out.  then this morning when I logged in got the worked perfectly till just about when I was going to leave for class got the black screen bubble of blankness and then it stopped.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
