My friends that still play EQ(3 of them) are all moving to EQ2(some will play WoW as well), most friends have left to never try SoE stuff again or so they claim.
Me, personnally I would prolly stick to CoH in a moment, I am trying it tonight...and some of my friends love it and have been playing it for 2 months or so and they didnt falter...will see.

I will leave. I have already noticed a decline in the number of players. It is difficult to find groups.
I'm looking forward to starting from the beginning with EQII. I do realize the beta testers will have a bit of an advantage, but I'm eager to begin in a new environment. I have been playing EQ for about 2 years. I will be upgrading my system to play EQII, so you know I'm addicted.
You said "It is difficult to find groups" It depends what server you play on, i would Say innoruuk has the most players on it..since i play on that server, i am always able to find a group
65 Necromancer
60 SK
45 Cleric
(innoruuk server)
It's very likely a server-to-server thing. I haven't had any trouble finding groups at any level on Xegony, even when playing a class that's generally considered less desirable for grouping (i.e. the berserker, widely considered "useless"). I've managed to get from 1 to 51 playing that character casually since June 29, and I sure didn't solo it all.

definetly will go
but dont worry if the amount of ppl playing eq is an issue they will just take out a couple of the servers, and allowing ppl to move chars to others, might be less servers, but they will have the same as many ppl in em
my opinion
Im staying because...
My friend is staying:My friends waayyyy in AK and im wayyy in FL so I want to keep in touch
They have so much of the original destroyed:Sure you may think it's "a plot' but I think it's "a sorry exscuse for no recreating the old EQ world"
Danget! I don't want to lose all that hard work:self explanatory
Plenty of reasons that are too hard to explain I might try it if they maake some expansions.
Soooooo... Bye!

I will stay if the price to play goes down alot. Otherwise you may see me playing EQ2 or WoW or mayb nothing, just depends.
i will go. as the eq content and player database is in the lvl 50+ i myeself just started playing. it is hard to find a group where my role (pally/tank) is hard to maintain with all the "twinked" alts. With eq2 approaching i want to starth out fresh, at least this way there will be some lower lvls and grping will be much easier to find.

EDIT**** dont wrry bout the poll below, im new to these boards, couldnt get "reply" to work :S
I will go to EQ2, I'm a big fan of better graphics, and EQ2 offers that... As far as gameplay I guess I have to try it, if it blows then I'll stay with EQ1.
I still play eq. Since release. 4 5? maybe years now. I love it. It is a game for so called "hard-core" gamers. It is not a game for the casual player as it is so time consuming. If your have played EQ (I mean REALLY played it) you will know what I mean. Most characters are into the level 60+ range these days, and most guilds are either little groups of friends who are social players, or they are huge raid-machine guilds. There is no right way to play EQ you just play it the way you like to. For me however I like the long mindless exp grind, the hellish corpse recoveries from raids, the long waits to get a raid going, the killing of gods, the pathetic hope for a win on a roll for some good peice of equipment. I'm a game masichist. I like a challenge.
EQ2 from what I can tell from the articles written and the press releases is a user friendly, low strategy, casual gamer experience. Fine thats great for some people. I personally don't like that. So many games these days SWG, CoH, etc, etc, etc, are geared towards the casual gamer. I keep buying these games and hoping for a great game experience. Granted my longtime experience with EQ gives me a heavy bias when playing these other games. However after much thought and many realizations I have come to see that it is in fact not my bias, but my desires that make or break a game for me. I have played them all, you name the MMORPG and I have played it, Eve, DAOC (Awsome game but PvP is not my cup of tea), FFXI, Second Life Online, AC1 (great game but I got hooked on EQ before I played this so it is EQ for me because they are so similar), AC2, Liniage, SB, UO, Neocron (Great game but more like a FPS than an RPG as was their intent), Horizons, Planetside, Anarchy Online (another great game but I beta tested this and was turned off by the company themselves), WW2 Online (giggle), etc, etc, etc, etc. In the end is is always an EQ style game for me (DAOC, AC1, or EQ1). If EQ2 turns out to be the soft-core, sleep walk that I suspect that they are aiming at then no I wont play it. However if it turns out that they manage to bring to light some new facet of strategy and challenge that I have not yet experienced then cool im in. If they just took EQ and gave it a lovely new graphics set and made us all start at level one again with a new selection of class race cominations then it would ROCK my world.
In truth... untill it releases or untill they let me into Beta (That would rock to) we/I will never know if I am going to play it or not.

I also agree with what most of the people have said already. I left because I did not have time to play for 6+ hours.
I was all fine and good until I hit lvl 60. I just could not keep up and dedicate my time to it. Which really was too bad, I loved that game. Played for 3 years.
But I am also very much looking forward to EQ2.
I am going. Been playing EQ for almost 2 yrs now and i still love it, but i am ready for some new stuff. I am ready to be a newbie again and be exicited by everything i see.

Ironic thing is.. If you read the lore of EQ2, the Council of all the God's all agree that players like you (aka the 'uber loots' players) were the downfall of Norrath. They all agreed that every being MUST be destroyed because of their greed of money and items. And I agree.
I don't mind a raid killing a dragon, or a mythical beast that lives at the bottom of the ocean.. but a raid to kill avatars of the very same God's we worship? No thanks. That just doesn't fit. Planes of Power was the worst in that aspect.
Oops, back on topic.. I will be playing both. Why? I have friends going to EQ2 and friends that will only be playing EQ. Sooo.. I'll be doing a bit of both. I'm in no hurry to get 'uber loots'.
Played EQ for 3 years ... quit it two times but not coz of lack of interest but coz of the impact on my social life EQ had. I just cant find in other games what i find in EQ (as one poster above said) and i tried alot of them. I will start with EQ2 and really hope it is not aimed at casual players like some other games like SWG and COH were (that just kills all the fun).
Played : DAoC, EQ (since kunark) , AO , AC2
Playing: EQ(still), CoH
Waitng: EQ2, WoW, Guild Wars

I pre-ordered EQ2 in order to get the Character Generator. When it arrived, I discovered that my hardware didn't support the game, so I bought a new NVidia 6800 based video card. Now the Character Generator runs fine, and provides a nice preview into the graphics of the new game.
While I still enjoy EQ immensely, I've GOT to try EQ2. Many of my guildmates in EQ don't have the hardware to run EQ2, so I suspect that I will play both for a while, unless the EQ2 experience is totally enthralling. But, if it is like many new releases, it will be incomplete, so we may have time to continue enjoying EQ before migrating completely to the new world.
