Unless you like how AOC plays or Guild Wars.
I guess I hate the way the combat in this game is,.. its very lame. I know some of you find this fun, but as I said,.. if you did not like AOC or Guild Wars, do not touch this game.
A lot of you have come here from WOW and trust me, this game is not even close to WOW. I am not a WOW fan but WOW is better than this game... I haye to say that but its ture.
I was playing DAOC and I was really wanting this game to be like DAOC, but what a HUGE let down.
i have played: DAOC, AOC, SWG, EVE, POTBS, Guild Wars, Asheron's Call, and COH, and WOW and I would say by far, this is the worst combat game play I have seen in a game.
The missions stink, the pick of toon's you can play stink, and just about everything stinks with this game..
The good??.. It looks pretty, nice job on the art work, but thats about it. I will not keep playing this after the 30 days and this was by far a waste of 50.00.
Been there done that:
Asherons Call,SWG,AOC,D&D,COH,Anarchy Online,DAOC,EVE,Guild Wars,LOTRO,POTBS,WAR,WW2, and Rift

The sad truth, OP....World of Warcraft trumps this game in everything from armor to animations to capital cities and detail....
The ONLY thing Warhammer has over wow seems to be pvp...and at this point I dont feel the pvp is enough to make up for everything else that war disappointingly sucks at...
I have to disagree with you about the characters you can play.
Out of all of the mmos ive played (especially wow), WAR offers one of the best varieties of character classes.
I didn't like Age of Conan or Guild Wars, yet I am having oodles of fun in Warhammer.
Am I just the exception to your rather crude rule?
*edit* I also played WoW...
You say you won't keep playing after the 30 days included with the retail cost, but you will play it for those 30 days.
A single player game at 50 bucks that you play for 30 days would be considered worth the money, how is this different?
Crude rule?,, not a rule, just my thoughts.. and no, I may not play it for the full 30 days, but I do want to give this game a full change, I did the same for AOC.
But then again,.. If I didn't play this game for the full 30 days,.. you would hammer me for not giving the game a fair chance,.. so, oh well.
If you like it, good for you, I am glad you found a game to play, but as for me,.. I am going to pass I think unless I find something that keeps me going with this game.

You haven't elaborated any of your points, no examples, no reasons, nothing... The "toons" stink, the worst combat, the missions stink? - Right, may you be so kind and tell the excited audience WHY you think everything about this game "stinks"?
M
I can bet most people don't care about your opinion OP....as any person with a brain will pick the game up and try it for themselves, and stop relying on everyone elses word.

Perhaps you should have worded your post differently, because you told me that if I didn't like AoC or Guild Wars then I wouldn't like Warhammer.
I know this game doesn't appeal to everyone and that it's not perfect. It's flaws will become even more apparent later down the line when / if new people start to play.
I'm not hammering you for not giving the game a fair try or for the fact that you don't like it, what I don't like is the way that you generalize and present your post as factual when, as you say in the post above it is your own opinion.
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you just made a poorly written post.
Hmm, I thought most of WARs players came from LOTRO, DAOC and Wow, not AoC and Guildwars????
Maybe a petition of that is in order.
I like GW and AoC but WAR just didn't fit me, I think it is mostly the combat that doesnt really do it for me. No problem with that, taste differs but to say don't try it nless you like 2 games that the fans rarely liked seems wrong.
Who cares what game is better?
WoW is so BORING I can't stand playing it for more than 10 minutes.
WAR I'm having a blast with so far, what more do I need to know?

Frankly I do not see how the comparison between WAR, AoC and Guild Wars is even relevant. All have drastically different goals and combat, so how come a guy not liking guild wars (ie: me) would also not like WAR (I do like WAR)?
Please do explain your logic here cause it is escaping me at the moment.

I agree with OP that the game is not worth it the way it stands now. Here are some reasons why:
1. The classes are heavily unbalanced, CC is way out of CC. There's a ton of threads on these issues on various forums.
2. Too many bugs still in game: from graphic/animation glicthes, falling through the world, targetting issues, ton of collision detection issues, combat unresponsiveness ( especially for melee, need ot spam skills forever before they go off, especially in pvp)
3. Public Quests (PQs) are an interesting idea but they get old fast. Gets very grindy quickly. On top of that, PQ rewards are good mostly for pve only, except for weapons and ocasional accesories.
4. Itemization is terrible. PQ rewards are mostly good forpve only as they lack resistances which are need for pvp by everyone. Also stat selection on PQ is very poor in most part. Renown rewards are fairly poor as well, your best bet is farm AH for green gear with resists. Lets not forget the loot tables which are a huge mess.
5. Chat channels are a joke. Unless you're in your factions main city, it's quite impossible to communicate with others outside your own guild or vc server. There are no global or regional channels, as chat channels change every few steps you take outside of cities. Can't communicate to people aout objective x or keep y being taken who aren't in your guild or vc.
6. Scenarios are bane of open Rvr which is supposed to be core of gameplay here. Scenarios are essentially BGs of WoW. Most people flock to scenerios for most oftheir lvl grinding and RvR is completely empty most of the time, with order coming out usually during off peak time to cap some keeps/objectives. This will unlikely change at rnk 40 as peopel grind for Renown ranks and order continues to avoid open Rvr during peak times. I'll admit that there is alot more variety in bgs in WAR than in WoW, but some are so flawed in designed it's not even funny. TA scenario from tier 3 is a perfect example, it should have not even been released. Essentaillly most order queue up only for TA due tremendous advantage and extreme ease they have in that one.
Wrong. I personally like Guildwars, but don't like Warhammer at all. They are far from the same. Don't know about AoC. Never othered playing that.

No matter what the die hard fans may say:
War is a GIANT step back in every respect of what a MMORPG should be AND it is clunky, lagyy and badly designed both in server capacity, PVE challenge AND RvR wise.
Those who LOVE it fall in 3 categories:
- DAoC lovers who think they can come back to the high days of that game
- Wow haters who just want to love it because they played Wow to death and now hate their ex love.
- The MMORPG jumpers who jump from MMORPG to MMORPG every time a new launch is announced.
All 3 categories "love" this game for the wrong reasons, they "think" they love it, but they have the wrong driving force to love and support it. All three will drop the ball.
The first category have to admit it's a shadow of the orginal DAoC, the second group are just loving it because they can hate their old love even more (forgetting that War is even more of less)... until they wake up and the third group will leave when the next new kid comes to town.
ALL the rest of the buyers can't look at it without having this feeling of: a clunky PvP, lagyy and badly designed game both in server capacity, PVE challenge AND RvR wise.
which is the entire FUCKING POINT of WAR.
if you prefer WoW, go play it, go grind some more mobs and get some new gear, if you prefer to PvP, play WAR... thats what its designed for.
No, I think that he has several good points, even you must think that the game in it's current state is somewhat lacking.
I dont know why you think so. I see WAR as very improved version of Wow. Everything uselsess from WoW is removed and everything fun is improved dramatically. At all WAR very similar but much better in both PvE and PvP than WoW. The only problem is that there are few bugs and some aspect need to polish a bit, but even this is not a big problem at least becasue WAR is much more polished and compleated than WoW on his release.
Also now WAR have even more content than WoW after 4 years...
Where themepark games try to hide that they are copying WOW, games like Mortal Online and Darkfall make no attempt to hide their inspiration

Clearly a blind fan category 2, I was talking about above.
The last sentence is proof how blind people can be. Blinded by hate to love "whatever" and "no matter".
Not very good for this MMORPG industry and further development. Unless you want that within one year only Blizzard will have 80%+ marketshare. Worst case scenario for ALL of us btw.
I hate it when people out and out lie in a post; WAR is by far one of the most bug free MMO launches ever.
Say what you will about the style of gameplay, that is a matter of personal taste, but coming on these boards to lie about the state of the game at release is just pathetic. I have been playing since OB and not once have I ever fallen through the world. Collision detection is exactly what it is supposed to be, yes you can get trapped by a group of enemy players (or even players of your own side who aren't smart enough to let you run away), but that was by design. Skills go off as soon as their cool down is up no spamming neccessary, just look at the icon and you can see when they are going to go off.
I couldnt disagree more.
The game plays very similar to WoW in many ways.. especially the core controls and combat system... just with less downtime. AoC and Guild Wars on the other hand are very different. So im not sure what the OP is referring to here.
Maybe if you wish hard enough that all might come true.. heh.
Youre hatred of WAR is quite extreme. If you actually believed the above you wouldn't bother to come here trashing WAR.. but if you were genuinely worried that WAR could pick off a chunk of WoW's playerbase...
People only have to consider your motives to understand whats going on here.
And this all coming from Blizzard a** licker and biggest troll, who started lying and trolling here even before game was out. And praising WoW every post. His opinion is worth less then ****.
No, I think that he has several good points, even you must think that the game in it's current state is somewhat lacking.
Actually WAR is definitely lacking in some respects. However, bodypass made no good or accurate points.
First to the OP -- AoC was nothing like Guilwars, and neither of them are like WAR. I don't know why you chose those games which are most specifically NOT like WAR when there are many others that at least have the same core gameplay aspects as WAR.
Now as for the post above... Bodypass ------ WAR can be considered a step back if you'd like. Its probably the same step back in MMOs that most of these forums feel WoW has been for the whole genre.
If WAR is a step back then the continuance of WoW is a giant leap back, off a cliff.
Contrary to popular belief the world IS BIG enough for WAR and WoW... personally I have more fun in WAR, and I have a number of ex-WoW guildies that enjoy it as well. I'm sure there are some Ex-War players that have gone back to WoW... that shouldn't discredit WAR in any way.
Some quick reasons why I like the game without getting too detailed:1) Instant PVP access from level 1. 2) Gear drops on PVP. 3) Leveling on PVP from level 1. 4) PVP Rewards. 5) PQ PvE rewards -- you get to choose 1 for each PQ level tier completed 6) Awesome guild and alliance community (at least on my server). 7) Openworld RVR in every zone. 8) Interesting, diverse classes with customization options.
I'm having a blast with war. Four of my friend left WoW cause it got boring and they said they'd never play a mmo again. Well, I got one of them to try war and now all of them are playing. They really like how the quests are set up and you don't have to go on thottbot.com to look at what you have to do. The public quests are mostly fun (granted a few are a little meh),the pvp is really nice and when you get tired of questing you get great exp from rvr. This is a pretty smooth start for a mmo, if you were around when WoW first came out the servers crashed all the time and they had many bugs. The pvp will be balanced, the game just came out of course classes will be over powered until that is taken care of. WoW is a great game I loved playing it but when BC came out it was nothing new and I kept playing it cause there was nothing else that could keep me away. I tried the beta for wotlk and have uninstalled the game, still the same stuff. There are some things in war that need to be fixed like a better open chat so it's not dead all the time and balance the classes some more but that's never ending even WoW still does that. For me and my friend we found something that can keep us happy and not feel that need to go back to wow and that's saying something imo.
I came to this game for open world PVP, not "PVP in a box" scenarios. There's very little real RVR action even on high pop realms, and I don't feel all that inclined to sink time into this game when I honestly don't feel like the game is going to amount to much. It's going to be a bunch of ex-WoW junkies grinding scenarios until the end of time, thinking they are playing a game that is somehow fundamentally different, when it's really just more of the same.
The game has potential, but the community playing it is just completely screwed up.
I hated AoC, I got tired of GW, I hated WoW... I Love Warhammer, therefore, I think your rule fails.
