With soon to be released new games coming out. are you going to be on the first day bandwagon or wait a month or so for "fixes" reviews, sever stability login issues (credit card issues ) to be resolved?
Due to a few past mmorpg experiancs and hard starts some folks have been jaded about brand new releases start up. Has the dissappoint in other games caused to you to be more weary of opening day "blues" and or more cautious on your timing of purchase, or is it full steam a head for you?

to a small degree, its taught me to be more careful about reading up on it alot more before purchasing. I used to be able to return games like a year ago to the local EB's and Babbages, but they really cracked down on that and now none of them allow returns on opened games.
That said, as long as i get decent value from them i dont mind. I'd buy WoW or would've purchased it in alpha, and i guess WoW is one case where i wish they werent being so thorough about the game before releasing, i would've been happy to play it with bugs, crashes, and all. I have to respect Blizzard for what their doing, but its pissing me off hearing all about the game from so many people meanwhile the game isnt out for me to buy, but it feels like its already been released due to all the beta players talking about it.
Its taught me to never buy a game based on hype, to read up on the game, to play it, and to not recommend it to anyone untill i have tried it for over a month.
AC1 is the only game i have played ACTIVELY for over 3 years, and is the best MMO i ever played.
I swore I'd never pre-order a MMORPG again, but then did it with SWG (and was sorry for it). And I have a copy of CoH on my shelf still in its shrikwrap because it took me about three days in pre-order beta to discover what a pile that game was.
But this time, with WoW and EQII, I really mean it!
(I too played AC1 for many years and was hooked on the genre by this game.)
Former Stress Tester of WoW
Realmreaver formally of EQ, SWG, FFXI and WoW.
Malis/Pirotess of PSO.
Some named of Diablo 1 and 2
Grendel Kinguard of GW.
i'm at the point now where I need to test the game before i spend my money on it... I've had too many dissapointments. Mainly ... Final Fantasy XI! that was the killer for me.
I am however happy that these new games are giving pre-order packs and free play beta weekends to test out the games ... Go Guild Wars for that one!! even though the game is free per month it's still a good insentive..
If only all other mmorpgs would follow suite
I mostly wait awhile before buying any MMORPG now a days. I want to get Ryzom but need to wait on more reviews and to hear wat ppl in the game really think about it.
The one game i can see breaking the mold is WISH. where on one server there can be about 10,000 people in a living world where the story in constantly changing. Hopefully the makers of this game can change the world of MMORPG's for the better.

Interesting thread....
I purchased Anarchy Online the day it was released as I was looking for something new from EQ (IIRC). Wow was that a bad move. At the time the lag was obscenely horrid and there were more bugs in the game then in Osama Bin Ladin's phone lines. If I had the option, I would definitely waited and read reviews before purchasing.
That being said, old dogs obviously do NOT learn new tricks as I just pre-ordered WoW from EB Games yesterday afternoon. *chuckles* In all truth, I have been following their beta boards pretty closely and have spoken with several friends in beta/stress test so its not a completely blind buy.
