What is with all the people having computers and graphic cards that are total suck?
500mb RAM - REALLY!
IT can't be money as 2Gigs of RAM is $30 and decent vid cards go for $80.
Let me see... OH I know - people play there concole crap then want to come play WAR and cry when they fire up their craptacular pentium 3 for something other than prn surfing.
SERIOUSLY stick with your Wii. but SHUT up about how you get lag in a game like WAR. LOLOL.

I actually have to agree to a point. Why a kid would have a 2000 computer to play games seems perfectly plausible to me. But why a guy who has a PS3, Wii, and XBox360 refuses to upgrade thier PC and complains about not being able to play games on it, then I wonder why since it only costs $400 for a prefab that can. (I just made my brother a $170(OS included) machine that can play any mmo under the sun including AoC.)
The real problem is not old pc's, the real problem is crap products like prebuilt systems with vista and 1 gig of ram and stock 2400 pro video card that cost 700 bucks.
The real problem is having anything less than 4850/9800gt sold as an addon graphics card. The below budget cards should be the last year cards not new detuned cards.
The year or brand has nothing to do with how good your pc is. I replaced my 3 year old 500 pc last month and it could still play everygame on the market.
Own, Mine, Defend, Attack, 24/7
heh I cant count how many times I have told people to get more RAm and the best video card they can afford when they get their PC yet they will always buy the cheapest they can get.......Soon thereafter its "I hate Dell" or "My new PC sucks" or "Warhammer must be a crappy game cause I cant run it "........Liek the previous poster said they'll get a vista system then get 1 gig of ram and think jsut cause they have the newest OS that everything should run just perfect.......The difference between PCs and consoles is you buy the same unit when you buy a console where a PC is night and day i the differences.......
Hope that wasn't a referal to about 'the guy running 1 gig of ram on vista' lol I know i need more RAM , and I will bu it, just wanted a tempory fix for until the RAM is delivered.....
But yeah you do have a point, like the people who say 'oh I could run WoW max graphics but WAR is laggy' oh can you compare a game thats several years old to one thats just come out? ok on the surface the may appear to be the same, but newer games always need newer / better tech...
However as a keen console and PC gamer, I can understand why this happens, these console gamers you speak of, obviously do not understand that not 'any' pc can run any game, just like they have a console with the right label to the right game and they know it will work, often a PC game you need something above what they say is the minimum specs to get the game playing to the same quality...
Oh adn as for those who say your either a console gamer or a pc gamer... ya wrong lol I happily do both, I am a gamer, doesnt matter what the game is on..
shhh... you might wake the trolls
So maybe some of us have done console gaming and are now trying out PC gaming? Is it not okay with you if we ask for help on how to run WAR? Or were you born a computer genius and have never had to ask help?
Well, on second thought. I doubt you were born any kind of genius considering your extensive vocabulary of 'craptacular'' and random punctuation. Also, how you assume console users are idiots.
PC gamers' egos are really annoying so shut the fuck up. We're just trying to figure out how to run WAR and need some help. Just because you play on a PC doesn't mean you're some sort of elite gamer.
They think becuase they play a game on a pc they are automaticly smarter then console players for some reason.
Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.
If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.
And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms

I would love to know which components you bought for this "$170(OS included) machine" and where you got them from. I cannot fathom how it is possible to build an entire machine (with modern-day components) for $170. I suppose being able to run a game is quite different from being able to run a game that actually plays well and looks nice (a.k.a. being able to turn the graphics up past "absurdly low" setting).
I totally agree that!!!!well well well ...great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with that, just XP costs $100. A complete uppgrade of a friend computer (hardrive, screen and box not included costs $300-$400. Sure I could upgrade it for $170 but then it would be so slow that you could run AoC but just on low setting.
But the OP is right, you need to upgrade at least your videocard every 2 year and the whole rigg every 3. You could have it last a bit longer by clocking it (processor and GFX card).
I got: Intel quad 2,4 mhz (Clocked at 2,97)
4 gigs ram
GTX 280
Works like a charm, running AoC at high with no problems.
The key word is playable. You gotta wait for such a thing to happen when deals hit a certain price, as well as combo deals. Also I took advantage of new more powerful IGPs, and really just made the machine about gaming. A 780G board is capable of playing AoC, and alot of the Korean Games and WoW on max graphics.
