Just had a 35 min fight...1 vs 1

Coming from SWG...

I can remember having these badass 45 min to 1 hr long fights with BHs and Jedi. I really missed those days...until tonight!

Tonight while traveling through an RvR zone, I came across a Swordmaster the same level as my 21 DoK. So I buff and engage in one of the coolest battles I've been since 2005!

In the end, my healing was the difference in a very close fight. I gave a respectful /bow and left the area. All in all, I'm having a blast in WARHAMMER ONLINE.

    Dude!

I live for fights like that. I really hope find more of the same. As it is right now I match very well with most Melee Profs. It's the ranged that give me a fit....I do OK, but I have to make them chase me around Buildings, Trees, and Rocks.

I remember fighting a Zealot 1v1 with my Archmage. Yeah. After 30 minutes I was aghast that either one had walked out yet. I eventually managed to burst him down though (hurray for Archmage DPS).

When I find myself in such a situation I just pretend to flee but actually luring the other guy into my group for a quick free kill.

    ???

As DOK you should kill same level Swordmaster!

    Slowly but surely.

You heal yourself, he does not.

His HP can only goone way -> down.

I hate long fights, almost as much as fair fights.

I'm playing on an RP/RVR realm and I'm a Witchelf, if a fight is long, then it's only long because I like to play with my victim and let him bleed until he drops dead.

Very nice btw the debuff that kills you if you start running, it can be like "You can stand there, let me escape and live or chase me and die, your choice *g*" - Although people seem to be just too stupid to realize how this works. Nothing is attacking them and they keep running and running and running. They stop, damage stops, they heal, and start running again....

takes a central african monkey to figure out that "running" might be the problem here.

Then I'm dumber than an African monkey 'cause I never figured that out.  I know there is a run speed debuff.

The tiny little icons by your portrait don't do so well in telling you what type of hex you have.  plus most of the effects in this game are not clear and precise visual.  So I could be getting hit with hexes and not even notice.  On top of that I don't play rogue classes therefore I don't konw all their abilities.

The same problem occured in WoW for about 1 year.  After one yer, every spell type had a unque look and debuff icon that really let you konw what was happening to you.  Example: Fear always had the rattling skull icon above your head.  Bleeds always had icons of a gash with blood spurting out.  dots were typcially greenish icons of decay.

Im surprised someone from either faction didn't stroll past and weigh into the fight to tip the balance one way or the other. 35 min is a long time for a duel to go uninterupted in an RvR lake!

aaah, you made me think back about swg fights, my best fight was 4 hours of chasing a holocron popping jedi with mind crystals who REALLY knew how to maintain his force bar for 4 hours straight around lock before finally layhing him to rest.

I fought a zealot for about 10min with my archmage before deciding neither of us would ever win 1v1, so I disengaged. Was fun though.

I didn't have any long fights like that.. but I did manage to make a nemesis on my WH, a nice little WE who kept running into me in scenarios. I guess we made some sort of agreement to ignore everyone else and slaughter eachother in every match. I think the final score was 9-13 for her after I had to leave..

    Too much fun.

Waiting for Fallen Earth, World of Darkness, Old Republic, FFXIV

If you have a fight that lasts over 5 minutes.. you are doing something wrong.  I'm sorry.. but either I'm amazingly good at PvP.. or some of you are incompitent MMO'ers..  it's gotta be one or the other.

Roll up a runepriest or another healer heavy type and ill do same on destro. we level up to same level and then dish it out and perhaps you will learn a bit more about the game before commenting.

Reminds me of the time I ran into a runepriest with my shaman. Same level; with me full heal-specced. Our toons had to shake hands and walk away after quite a borefest :)

Still, I have to say I love my shaman.

A DoK vs a Swordmaster can last for a while if they're at a level which allows the Swordmaster to mitigate damage enough despite a DoK's self-healing. So it lasts long because the Swordmaster's health isn't going down too quick. Now, this does not happen all the time, as it depends on the Mastery spec the Swordmaster chooses as it does for the DoK's mastery spec.

Personally, I went up against a Runepriest as a Zealot around level 15-16. Even match. We were DPS/DoT'ing - Burst Heal/Morale Heal/HoT'ing for about 5 minutes before the Runepriest decided to bolt. There was no way we could take eachother down. The furthest we got eachother down was 1/4th, but even then--- our HoTs were ticking.

It is true however, that it requires patience to go through a battle that long. Its a match of wits, because one wrong move can bring your health percentage lower than your heals can catch up. Some people enjoy it, others don't have the understanding or patience to appreciate that they're going up against a like-minded foe.

lol if you really like long fights roll a zealot :P, you hit for almost no damage :/ (takes me 1-2 minutes a normal pve mob) but 2 HoT's and a bubble every now and then and you can fight for days.especially vs an arch mage or warrior priest lol
