Originally posted by David_Wolfpa From an source that I cannot name, I have recieved infomation on a new class... it sounds interesting... SHADOW BEAST-TAMER "This class has the unique ability to transform into enemies that he/she has vanquished, this will include all monsters, even boss monsters such as dragons, or towering beasts" This is part of the document which he managed to get hold of, sounds good to me.
Well, your source lied to you, the "papers" he has are faked (or nonexistant), and you fell for it.
Shadow-Beast-Tamer... uh-uh, well, sounds like a load of crap to me, maybe a skill or somesuch like beast taming in UO... maybe although that doesn't sound all than everquesty to me...
Hmm that does not sound like something from SOE to me-they wouldnt give it away-but then again if your right i will owe you a few cheap beers at crows-if its still around.
i strongly dought this is true lol... but if it is or its a lesser form of the Beast's you'v encountered.. then it could be.. as in if you took the form of a dragon but you still only fought like a strong lvl max warrior like in EQ 1 if it was like a 65 warrior... but then again.... i dont think SoE would make such a class.. even tho thay could probaly make it fit in if thay just sed you got a lesser form of ech beast...
biggest load of BS i have ever heard. first of all, totally not SOE's style. second, if there was something like this wouldnt everyone want to be one? just dont see anything like this ever happening, especially in a ptp game, it would completely ruin it.
I don't know. This sounds like one of those ideas that people think up when their head is in the clouds or after too many hours sitting in a raid group without sleep...
I highly doubt there are classes at launch outside of those in the tree structure. I could see this being an illusionist skill though. Much like the image buffs in EQ that let a chanter change forms. The chanter or other toon looked like whatever but had none of the abilities.
I am a little suprised they are doing this with boss mobs though. I can just see a trading area full of bosses that cause tremedous lag.
I am fairly sure that nothing as powerful as you described would ever be implemented, but let's say something like that was made. Perhaps a shapeshifter that would look like the monster, but not take on the monsters abilities.
Look at it like this, the Shapeshifter changes into the form of a Dragon, she then receives for a limited time the ability to resist fire and gain firebreath, but her attack and defense (for the most part) remains the same as her original form had. If this is true (I am not saying it actually is) than this kind of class might be able to exist without becoming too powerful.
This is just an idea of a crazy person. Disregard it as any kind of human thought.

that is a load of crap
That does not fit into their archtype system "all class can fill their role" at all.
We will not see any new classes until maybe expansions.

This is BS I have read post on the EQ2 forumn suggesting the same thing. I think someone is hyping there idea a bit.
Could be doable with the new Diablo II type skill advancement ( tree )
Can morph into anything slain if it's level is no greater than the level of the skill.
Of course becomming a dragon, giant etc. would be impossible ( most likely no magic creatures ).
Interesting idea indeed
The poster made up a bunch of crap for no apparent reason, and somehow there are 4 pages on this thread.
Shadow Beast-Tamer...lmao.

it isnt true lol, there is no "shadow beast tamer" class
sweet, im willing to give that one a try.
I really don't see it happening, unless it was from non-boss mobs, then it makes sense.
